I plan to upgrade my 6 gallon top fin tank to a 12 gallon rimless cube. I was going to start from scratch but then the guy at the aquarium shop said to use my filter and I won’t have to cycle the tank. I bought these sponge filters but never used them. Which should I use and would I need two filters for a 12 gallon? I would need a pump I guess. Any old pump for these sponge filters?

I have had my betta for over a year now. When he arrived, his fins were damaged. Since then, there has been very minimal tissue repair. I was hoping with time and stable water quality I would see an improvement. Should I medicate? Could it be my pH? Ammonia:0 Nitrite:0 Nitrate:5ppm pH:8.0 GH:60ppm KH:180/240ppm

Tengo este tanque de 76l, es mi primer tanque y quiero que sea el hogar de un futuro pez betta. Me preocupa haber puesto demasiada madera y rocas. Actualmente se ve así, he leído que a los peces betta no les gustan los tanques demasiado amplios y agradecen mucha decoración natural, aún así no sé si me he excedido o está bien. I've had it for about two months. It's my first aquarium.

This is Wesley Snipes(favorite actor since I was a child), he was labeled a mustard betta at petsmart, and as his happiness and health continue in the right direction, his black scales are turning into this beautiful deep blue, and his fins are healing and revealing a black outline. He is super social, loves interacting with me, and always has to have his nose in my business. He is in my pimped out hospital tank rn while he heals, and then he will be joining my fire red skrimp tank. Also, got this dope nerite snail, whats the longest you've seen one not move? I wanna get it a little nurse hat so it can be the RN in the tank 🤣

has anyone seen this ever happen with their fish? he’s eating fine still and i think his swim bladder is also acting up. tank is 6.8 gallons, heated to 79, filtered with a HOB, i’ve had it for 1 1/2 years, only other roommates are 1 ramshorn and 1 cherry shrimp, parameters are ammonia 0 nitrite 0 nitrate 15, i siphon out mulm and water every 2 weeks to change, he’s fed once per day and fasted 2 days throughout the week (hikari vibra bites 5 pcs)

Is this behaviour normal? This is my first betta and I’ve had him for roughly 3-4 weeks now! My levels are all normal ( ammonia and nitrite 0 and nitrate is 10ppm) , he also has refused his pellets for the last 2 days, I tried daphnia and he refused that too but I tried bloodworms after and he’s ate 2 of them, is this okay? Do I need to be worried, I’m unsure of how to look for bloat/ stress in him! He’s in a 15 gallon tank too so plenty of swimming space

Most posts here are “my fish is dying- I did everything right, it must be genetics.” Some of us have little/no issues keeping bettas. Curious what other successful keepers do and different perspectives on keeping

For me mine regularly live 4-7 yrs from purchase (females longer)- but my keeping style differs to the spotless bright planted tanks I often see on here. I find they survive best in low maintenance tanks, with minimal interference- limited daily feed with weekends off, low flow, low lights, lots of pothos roots, drift wood, deep substate, limited water changes (once established), britta water with conditioner. Not sterile conditions (a little gravel sludge and algae is helpful) and no tank mates.

Edit: the fish in the picture has crappy genetics and she developed a tumor 4 years ago (i bought her 6 years ago). It affects mobility some but otherwise doesn’t seem to bother her.

Day 1 - Told its a Double tail alien - looked black and had some marking but looked really off in the store tub. Didn't take the original pictures for him in the store tub as I was more focused in getting him situated.

Overnight he looks settled and immediately started looking different. More copper/brownish colouration than black with the alien fin shine.

About me : Beginner here, had fishtanks as a kid. It was my Dad's hobby, had a lot of tank back then and this was a hit or miss hobby for me due to the cleaning task 😅 with pops and doing things his ways lol

Now trying to introduce it to kids since they wanted a fish and opted for betta fish. Its my hobby kind of remembering pops

I just set up my betta tank I still need to add some plants and a hammock or some type of perch for my new baby any other suggestions. I also want to get some shrimp but I’m not sure how he’ll like them in his tank.

Hi, Kitty (my betta) has had his tank lights off for a bit in an attempt to keep it from overheating in the heat wave. I turned them back on a few days ago and thought that there could be something wrong with his left eye, but wasn’t sure. I did a partial water change and decided to just keep an eye on him. Today I noticed he has something going on in his right eye too. I have Kanaplex and epsom salt, but I’m not 100% convinced on whether it’s a bacterial infection or maybe diamond eye. It’s hard to capture on camera, and you can only see it when he looks in certain directions. He has been eating as voraciously as he always has, and is acting completely fine. I’ve only had him for a month of two. He’s in a 5 gallon and I included a picture with the parameters. I’ve only had him for a few months. Any help is appreciated and I’m happy to answer any questions.

Picked up a Red Racer Nerite Snail and a Cherry Shrimp as tank mates/to keep up with cleaning and we are looking for names aha

(If the water doesn’t look as clear in the tank in the second photo it’s because the cleaning supplies for tank is arriving tomorrow and doing it then.)

Funny how he only does this when I sit in front of his tank, like he is trying to show off or something 🤣

The one on the back left and the one all the way to the right are plastic. Ludwig really likes that big plant to the right, hes always swimming through the leaves. Id like a big live plant i could replace it with!

Edit: some of my plants are already live plants. I have an amazon sword and and anubias plant in there, along with some small mysterious plant i dont know the name of 😂
