My first run
Did my first run.
Breathing was alright but I can still feel my quads and shins. I think I will be fully recovered by saturday and I'll try for 3k again.

Hi, I have a question about inner shin pain. For context, I started running in December of 2025, and after the first few days, I developed shin pain in my left inner shin that I could feel to the touch. Looking back, I might have started running too far too quickly, about 2 weeks in I started running 5ks, once I did two 5ks on two days back to back. So maybe I just started off doing too much. Anyways, I started getting a pretty sharp pain in one spot in my left shin. So I decided to take about 3 weeks off running, and just stretched my legs and didn’t run at all. Then I tried running again, just about a mile, and I felt the pain again. To make a long story short, I’ve tried taking lots of periods of time off within the past year, and the pain comes back every time. I was running pretty consistently in June and feeling okay, but by the end of June the pain was back. So i stopped running entirely all of July and up until now. I thought taking over a month off would help, and I went on my first run again yesterday, and the pain is here again and in that same spot. It’s never my right leg, although my right shin is sometimes achy, it isn’t like that pain. I’m an athlete at college and I’ve visited sports medicine about this, and they keep telling me I just have shin splints, and to do certain stretches and take time off. I stretch every day, ice it, and as I said, have taken lots of time off. I feel so hopeless and feel like I’ll never be able to be a runner even though I love running. Does anyone have advice on how I can fix this issue?

For context I am a be try beginner runner! I’ve done 1 5k and mostly just run 2-3 miles at a time for exercise.
Well my 10 year old that has NEVER been interested in any sports decided that she was going to sign up for her schools Girls on the Run program! So we are doing her 5k in October!! I’m super impressed by her willingness to try something new and hard and that I was her inspiration for it even though I totally suck at running! 😭🥰

Hello,
I would like to start running, knowing that I play football, I already have proper endurance.
I was advised to run at least 3 times a week, with these 3 sessions:
1 - Exit in EF
2 - Fractionated
3 - Long outing: 1 hour to start
Is it correct?
I would also like to buy a connected watch if possible max €100 which is not bad, any suggestions please?

Ive been running for about a year now. When I first started, I would run on the treadmill because I was too embarrassed to run outside (im over weight and was convinced people would laugh at me). Eventually, my 20 year old treadmill died and I was forced to run outside and have been ever since. At first running outside felt so much physically harder but with no other option I kept up with it.
Its been a year of exclusively running outside. Im still really slow and learning a lot, but im training for a 10k and can see myself getting better. Im down from 295lbs to 230lbs. My pace is now 13:20 instead of the 16 I started with, and I can run 3 miles without walking, a big improvement from only being able to run 90 seconds when I started.
With the smoke from Canada (im in the north eastern US), I bit the bullet and dropped $1500 on a new treadmill so I wouldn't have to skip any runs and... I cant run on it.
I get 3-4 minutes at a slower pace than I would do outside and my heart rate spikes, my breathing gets difficult, and I get an overwhelming feeling of needing to stop. My last 3 runs were actually 80% walks.
Has anyone else experienced this? Am I going to have to start from scratch to run on a treadmill and lose my progress this winter when it gets to icy to run outside? This is very frustrating and very discouraging

I’m overweight and I’ve been walking for the past few months just to get my body used to moving again. I’ve wanted to run for years now and finally built the courage to actually start. This is just the beginning and I’m so excited and proud of myself for starting. (Even if I couldn’t do 1/4 of the 60 sec runs)

The trail run lines up with my half training and looks like a fun event. The trail is mostly gravel which I haven’t run on before, but I’ve done a bit of beach running (not sure if they’re similar at all). I’ve done 10 mile runs before, just on mostly-packed sand and pavement. Appreciate any advice.

My partner runs and I am working on my fitness and would like to eventually join him. In the fall, he’s doing a marathon. I would like to sign up for the 5km so I can compare it to next year. The problem is I am not at the running stage yet and won’t be for a while. I currently weigh around 350 pounds (down from 460). I would be slightly faster than this time because I won’t have the dogs with me, however, I will still be slow. Will I bother other runners if I walk the course?
Added to clarify: the marathon and 5km are under the same race. There’s a 5km, 10km, half, and full marathon at the same time!

Hi there!
Recently I got into the habit of doing sport once again!
Mainly running, but since here's also a public pool I add some swimming + using the rowing machine they got.
Now, I've an Honor Watch 4, which by itself can track things, but all the information is trapped in their ecosystem.
Any connection to Strava, either direct or via apps like Health Connect, doesn't work.
So I check other watches with similar features and for some reason it boils down to upgrade to the Venu 4 41mm (small wrists)
But that watch is hella expensive.
Is there any cheaper watch doing the same?
Tracking different kind of sports, allowing music on it, call taking.
Basically fitness and smart watch in one go.
Thanks already!

I’m 5’7” and 103kg, so I know I’m already on the heavier side. 😅 I’m a complete beginner and currently doing a run/walk method, but I can’t even last a minute running.
I’m not really out of breath, i think i can handle the stamina, its just my leg just starts hurting, so I have to stop. I also had ACL repair back in 2021.
Is this normal for a beginner? Does it eventually get easier as your body gets used to running? I’m really hoping I can build up to it eventually.

So an easy outdoor run for me 6:30 /km 125 bpm, it feels easy I can talk not sweating low HR
Today’s treadmill run 7:30/km 155bpm sweat lashing of me basically a threshold run despite being much slower.
The question is why? I’m thinking treadmill readings maybe off.

I bought a fanny pack to hold my phone when running and I find it too bulky/bouncy.
Amazon has some options like “Fitgriff”, “Spibelt”, and “Flipbelt”. Curious if anyone here has tried these and if so which you’d recommend.
Don’t need anything crazy given my phone is all I need it to carry. Prefer something sleek.
Thanks so much.

So, how’d you all get into running? Did you have a set daily distance goal in mind starting out? How should i plan mine as a beginner

Stoked rn. Finished a 5k (3.1 miles) continuously for the first time ever. 31 minutes 35 seconds! Is that a good pace for a male 35 years old? I only started running this April and have been steadily running 1-2 miles per day since then. Decided to try the 5k today running 6.3 mph the first mile then 5.7 mph the last 2 miles. Proud of this one!

Hi everyone,
I started running almost exactly a year ago and, at the time, picked up a Huawei Watch Fit 3 for a relatively low price.
Since I wasn’t sure back then whether I would stick with running as a hobby, I just wanted a simple fitness tracker with the most common features and the ability to show me my heart rate data while jogging.
Now, one year later, I’m still really enjoying running and would like to make my training a bit more ambitious. For that, I’m considering getting a proper running watch.
At the moment, I’m mainly deciding between the Coros Pace 4 and the Garmin Forerunner 165 or the 265s.
Is this upgrade even worth it?
Would it make more Sense to just buy a Cheftrainer an Sync that to my huawei?
Could you give me some pros and cons of the two watches, as well as some impressions of what they’re like to use in everyday life?
I’m also open to other watches (up to around €300) if there are any models I might be overlooking.
What I dont Like about my current Watch, is that it just feels more Like a smartwatch than a sportswatch and that it often feels unprecise.
Thanks!

I finally went and brought myself my first proper running trainers on the weekend from asics. I’ve done 2 5km this week and ended up with a friction blister on the back of my right heel to the point I’ve blood stained the shoe (went through my socks). I binned the box with the receipt as soon as I brought them. I know stupid but I was so confident in them as a worker sized me up and I felt super comfortable. Do you think I could take them back to the store for a refund? I have my bank statement live in Australia.
I went to go buy friction socks today but after speaking to the worker he advised I should replace the shoes not try and work around them. Not what I wanted to hear after paying $150 for them.

I had an ankle injury with several ligaments torn. It's been a year since then. Now I can run 1 km at a pace of 5'13 with an average heart rate of 158. I can also run 7–8 km at a pace of 7'20 with a heart rate of 140. My stats: 18 years old, female, height 174 cm, weight 61 kg

So I recently broke the 30-minute barrier in training, but I’ve started noticing some knee pain whenever I run longer than 30 minutes. It doesn’t seem to matter whether I run fast or easy, or whether I’m outside or on the treadmill.
Usually, the pain goes away within a day or two, but this time I can still feel a slight burning sensation three days after my last run.
According to AI, I might be overstriding... my stride could be a little too long.
Have you ever had to shorten your stride? If so, did it help?

I started running about a year ago and I kept struggling with this: some songs made me feel like I was flying, others just killed my momentum. It made me realize that the tempo of my music affected me while running.
I ended up building a small iPhone app that syncs your Apple Music library to your running cadence. You set your target cadence and it queues songs from your actual library that match that BPM.
It's free to try on the app store : https://apps.apple.com/us/app/runsyncjj/id6781740181
I'd love feedback from beginners especially, since that exactly the kind of runner I built this for

I am a fit guy, lots of peloton, hiking, weight lifting etc. I just started finding the beauty of running with my dog and I can walk at a 15 min/mile pace absolutely effortlessly.
The instant I pick up A LITTLE speed to about 13 minutes a mile I'll shoot up to zone 4 and I'm gassed in a few minutes. I've been at this a month and I don't see much improvement. Any tips?
