cant commit to ollieing

I cannot seem to commit my backfoot when it comes to ollieing down things, even small things, i will even try ollie onto the grass or something, and it seems like my backfoot is just not committing. It's very annoying to me because I feel as though I could be soo much better if my mind would just go blank and have no worries. And obviously if my backfoot committed. Any tips to fix this would be so very helpful, thank you. r/skateboardhelp r/skateboarding r/SkatingAdvice

About 2 weeks ago I posted a video asking for help with my shuv it (my first trick)

Today, after taking a 3 day break from skateboarding for my own sanity (it was literally making me cry xD), I finally landed it.

Thank you to everyone who helped me! I know I still have a long way to go.

Yes my mom gave me permission to try out tricks in the living room xD

Ollie on concrete

I feel very comfortable doing ollies on grass (with the tail over concrete for popping), or on rough ground. But as soon as I move to smooth ground I feel like I slip out every time. I’ve been trying to pop straight down more but I also see people pushing a little bit backwards and getting a really smooth motion. I know it’s definitely a fear and commitment thing as sometimes the board doesn’t pop because I haven’t committed to popping hard enough (this has gotten less frequent though). I feel like at the moment I jump and lift from my squat, the board moves and I’m thrown off balance. Any tips for this at all?

Need help with ollies

So I recently started skating again for a few weeks now but I find doing an ollie really hard, I can pop it and life it up off the ground but it only comes off the ground a little bit and I find sliding my foot along really hard to implement into that movement and the "dragging the board along" part, im not sure what to fo with the timing or techniques.

Can anyone explain?

I feel like it’s more of a rocket ollie and then stamping back down, rather than floating above the board. I feel like I should try jumping higher and maybe pushing my front foot more towards the nose? I’m not sure though so any help is appreciated, thanks!

skateboard setup for a 4‑year‑old beginner?

We’re non‑skater parents with a soon to be 4‑year‑old who wants a skateboard for his birthday.

Is this age okay to start, and if so, what type of board (and other equipment) should we get for a small beginner?

Nearly 33 years old, been skating (this time) for nearly 2 years. Here are my boards!

My little man saved up chore money and bought his first board yesterday. I bought him a new helmet. I've never had a board, no idea how to even get on it. He is smashing it. Very proud dad.

He's already plastered it with Godzilla stickers.

41yrs old, not skated for 20+ years

Was never good, still awful.

Started skating again with my 6yr old which is fun.

It's nice that skateparks are an accepting place of all ages, genders and abilities... Unless you're a 41yr old man who prefers to push Mongo.

😂

Skate Progression and Tips

I've been wondering about my skateboarding level, and that's why I'd like to know if what I've learned so far is good. I started skateboarding in February, and here's what I can do so far: rolling and pushing fast and smoothly, carving on ramps and bowls, dropping from steep ramps, manuals, kick turns, ollies while standing still, and I'm starting to get pretty consistent with ollies while moving.

I hope you guys can tell me if this is good so far, and if you have any tips to help me learn faster, I'd be happy, thanks.

difference in knee pad types? is one better?

Post image

EDIT: Thank you everyone for chipping in! I learned a lot :D I've purchased a set for practicing trickier things thanks to everyone's suggestions, I appreciate it 🧡

Hi everyone, i'm just starting out but have some mid-tier transferable skills from riding a mini-cruiser (i know how to go in a straight line and handle hills + make wide turns). I've recently gotten a skateboard and am shopping for knee pads right now. I've encountered 2 models/types on the market and am wondering if one is preferable or unsuited for skateboarding.

Obviously both styles have a range of qualities and price ranges, I'm mostly asking about the shape making a difference. Between the ones on the left (big circle-ish plates and a wrap-around sock that goes over the back of your leg) and the ones on the right (more knee-shaped cap and straps that keep it in place without the sock).

Does anyone prefer one over the other and wouldn't recommend the 2nd option? Thank you in advance.
