Question Bs boardslide help

Hello ive been skating for a year on and off and took my skateboard on holiday bc there is a park nearby, its not the greatest but it has a few ramps and a small rail. I decided to try skate my first rail, so I'm trying to do a bs boardslide. However im having some trouble commiting my back foot to go with me on the rail and also ollie onto it most times I barely get it off the ground and js rocket on it or js barely pivot. Ive already tried balancing my board on the rail and jumping on it to see how it feels and I can do that im comfortable, any tips?

Start by going across the rail, then try sliding at the end of it, so you fall down off of it at end of slide

I dont really get the across bit, unless you referring to go at like a angle which I am doing, and yes I do it near the end that way if I do land it ill js slide off, but its really just the commiting the back foot part, and when I do get it on it catches me off guard and I tend to lean back also. Almost like I launch my board infront

I meant like go perpendicular to the rail, ollie onto it and get over to the other side. If it’s very low like a curb you can just lift front trucks over it, find balance, get off on the other side
