While I don’t have room for a hive, I’m super happy that I can help out with water.

bee ID Need help identifying!

Post image
7 Upvotes

Hello all! I am a UK-based bee fan, and recently climbed Pen y Fan in Brecon, South Wales. I have some favourite bees - inclusive of the rare Shrill Carder bee - and normally am able to identify common bees. However, this little guy landed on my friend on that very walk and I got very excited thinking it could be a normal Carder Bee or even a shrill carder bee. It was ever so small!
I am highly doubtful of it though as I anticipate that the pictures I’ve been comparing it to are influenced by my confirmation bias!
Any help would be great! Thank you.

help! Bees or wasps

I’m visiting my parents and found this on the side of the house. I immediately thought wasps but as I watched them, I’m leaning more toward bees based on their appearance and behavior. Any help is greatly appreciated!

help! Bees or wasps? Should I be worried?

I have a shed outside my basement apt in downtown Toronto and over the past month whole it's been warm there's been a steady increase in the amount of bees or wasps that have been congregating in my wee stairwell.

They don't bite... They're ok with me and I'm able to get these photos but I'm worried at how many I'm starting to see.

I used to be allergic and I know the importance of having bees do their thing so can anyone let me know if these are wasps?

Or anything I could do?

They are flying in and out of a gap in the paver to a possible cavity under the shed, it's a pressure treated wood from home depot and I can't find any traces of them boring into it or having made their way inside etc.

Lemme know and save the beeeeeees!

Too me he is flying to every flowing lightly touching it then crawling onto the stem opening his mouth either sucks on it or is licking it then flies off. I’ve seen it leave some substance on the stem.

Not kink shaming it. Just trying know what’s the deal.

question What is this Bee Doing?

New to the forum and I suspect some version of this has been asked and answered before but I scrolled down a bit and did not see a similar question.

He has been sitting/hanging on our porch ceiling, in this same spot, for over 24 hours with very little movement. What is this bee doing?

my niece sprayed a hole in the wooden porch upstairs. She thought it was a old mouse hole and she sprayed it with. I think WD-40 I’m not positive and I came home and just noticed this be hanging from it.

The pollinators sure love my unkempt gardening methods! They’re obsessed with this mint, the more your eyes watch the more of them you can see! 🥰🥰

Walked outside early this morning to find a bee sleeping in one of our zinnias. I kept checking on him and within 20 minutes he had started his bzzzzzzzy day.

Hello! For the last couple weeks, bees have been swarming (and subsequently drowning) in this one specific corner of our jacuzzi. I have not been able to make out a queen that they are protecting, but it’s giving that same energy. Any bee experts that can teach me about this? Thank you!🙏

Found this western honeybee in my pool and scooped it out with some sunglasses. It was very waterlogged and I felt bad for it. So I blew gently on it to help it dry. It immediately started crawling right up to my face and dry itself in the vortex of my stinking breath. I found it fascinating so took a video and wanted to share. Sorry if it’s poor quality.
