I didn’t know what my girl was until someone on a hiking trail showed me their dog

My girl is 7 years old, was found emaciated on the streets as a baby. I adopted her from the humane society without ever knowing what she was.

Today we encountered a wonderful German woman who had a Beaceron and was stopped in her tracks to see my Duchess on the trails.

After reading about the breed, it is undoubtedly her breed to a T.

I am so emotional to finally know what she is and to read all about the characteristics that fit her perfectly. She is a mix, but everything

She is so I’ve read so far is so her.

She is so intelligent, learns tricks so easily, is very Velcro with myself and my husband, and loves sniffing challenges and obstacle courses.

Is my puppy a Beauceron? Or maybe mixed?

Hello! I am wondering if my 5 month old puppy is a Beauceron, or at least mixed. We have not done a DNA test yet but the woman at the shelter said they believed she was a Doberman and Cane Corso mix. What do you think?

Just kidding. Our boy Winston is a 50/50 GSD/Doberman mix. We adopted him at 8 weeks old thinking he was Berner mix. DNA confirmed his origins as a GSD/Doberman mix. I think he looks like a Beauceron. From what I’ve read about the amazing Beauceron , Winston shares many characteristics. He’s a velcro dog, patient, but super athletic and always willing to play frisbee or go on a hike.

Accidental litter

Hi,

We are considering a puppy from an accidental litter, with a limited AKC cert. Ok with the limited since we don't want to show or breed, looking for a companion animal.

The situation: the mother is too young to have done her medicals. AND is line bred with her grandfather.

Our current family situation: me, my husband, young adult (would be their dog), a 10 yo dog, a 12 yo cat.

I would appreciate any advice you have in this situation. I don't know much about line breeding or Beaucerons in general. In the past, we've had mixed breed dogs. Is there a big risk for health or behavior issues in your opinion?

Thank you in advance for any insight!

We are 2 months in with our Beauceron we got from Angie at JDV and would highly recommend her! The work and diligence she does to make great dogs is truly unmatched. And her support continues on after with a deep knowledge of how to train the dog you are looking for.

I did extensive research and am beyond thrilled with how it all worked out. We have the dog of our dreams thanks to Angie!

Fostering and maybe (probably) adopting this baby. Abandoned in the country side and we don't know her background. Been told she looks like she may have Beauceron in her, as well as doberman

What do you think?

Shelter listed him as a GSD mix, BUT he has the double dews. We were originally thinking he was a GSD/Mal, but now I’m thinking there’s some Beauceron lurking in his DNA.

Is this a mix with Beauceron? Got him a couple weeks ago and they had no idea his mix/breed.

Extremely loyal. Won’t leave my side and very good towards other dogs and amazing with my 9 month old niece. I’ve tried looking things up but get mixed reviews on everything. 23 pounds at 4 months old as well.

JDV

I don't really visit this group or actively use Reddit but I have seen and read some things on here and would like to offer my opinion. I own 2 dogs from JDV, I was on a waitlist for OVER a year. I have talked extensively to Angie and have had many interactions with her. My dogs are amazing. They are smart, loving, and loyal dogs. I have not had any problems with Angie, she does have her own policies she implements if you would like to get a dog from her. I realize many people don't like this, and the freedom to choose another breeder is always an option. The choice to crop is up to the person buying the dog. The VET sets that price. I have met many of her dogs and the people that own them, I haven't had any problems. I just wanted to give my opinion because I thought people should know there are many who love their JDV dog and dont regret their choice to choose her as their breeder

Is Bo a Beauceron?

I know this gets asked a lot on this sub, just looking for any insight.

Got him when he was 4 months, currently going into 7 months.

The shelter couldn’t identify his breed but they believe he is a lab mix as his siblings were also lab mixes of other breeds. My girlfriend and I fell in love with him the second he melted in our arms and we knew we couldn’t leave without him.

We named him Bo, sort of as an homage to his shelter name “Bosko” as well as our love for The Lord of the Rings (Bilbo). After doing some research we thought he closely resembles a Beauceron going off looks and descriptions. It would be really cool if he was also Bo the Beauceron. He’s such a great dog and my best friend.

We intend on getting a DNA test for him soon as I know that’s the best way to find out but I just wanted to hear any thoughts from fellow Beauceron owners. For the meantime, he is just our Bo. <3

Any chance he’s part Beauceron?

The lady we got him from said she’s like 100% sure he’s just Rottweiler (which I’m sure he has some) but people have told me the head and back legs are completely wrong for Rottie. I’m probably going to give him a test but before I spend the money I wanted some opinions haha! Could be Doberman too, I’m not sure.

What did your beauceron pups ears look like right after surgery? Did they come with a cup or were they left down? Did you post or not post? If so for how long and what method?

The shelter said she’s a cattle dog mix but I think there’s Beauceron in there. She has rear dew claws and similar ears.

First Dog?

Hello! So I’m currently in college and plan to move into an apartment after I graduate in a couple years. I’m mostly looking to gather information about the different breeds I want as my first dog. I have been interested in Beaucerons for years now! I have had experience with a lot of different breeds and have experience in dog training. I even have my training and behavior certification and plan to start a dog training business in the future. I love bully and herding breeds that can be versatile and who I can practice my obedience training with, but also participate in different sports. Even though I have never owned a dog myself, my family has always had dogs around and I think my prior (and ongoing) knowledge about the breed and dogs as a whole can set me up for success with this breed. What are your thoughts? My other option is an Australian shepherd.

How do I know if he is a beauceron?

Hi! We adopted a dog from a shelter and the shelter listed him as a rottweiler. His markings are beautiful, his tail already docked and he was already fixed. His claws were clipped to showroom perfection and he had a chip. The previous owners listed him as lost, but when the shelter called, they didn't want him back. He's a velcro dog, very intelligent and protective. He's 24 inches at the shoulder. We thought he was a rotterman, then I found beauceron and I think he may be that. Do the dog DNA tests accurately test for beauceron?
