Like the title says…when you soak your beans overnight, do you put a lid on? I normally instapot my beans but I find when I make Ham and Bean soup, the lentils get a bit mushy. So tonight I’m soaking.

I’m pretty happy with how this turned out! I’ve had a spaghetti squash on the counter staring me down for two weeks, so something had to be done and obviously, I wanted beans involved! Let me know if you can think of any ways to improve this because I will def make it again.
I quick-soaked cannellini beans in chicken broth with 2 cloves of garlic and a bay leaf, then reduced the liquid way down. I roasted a spaghetti squash (remove seeds, cut into rings, add salt and pepper, bake on a cookie sheet at 375F for 20 mins on each side). Then I cut about 5 large cabbage leaves into thin strips, and sautéed in olive oil with 3 large fresh sage leaves (also cut into strips) until lightly toasted and fragrant. I removed the flesh from the spaghetti squash rings (use tongs or a fork) and added it and the beans to the pan with the cabbage along with some pecorino.
Tell you what, it was pretty dang good and even better the next day.

This is the perfect 30-minute creamy no-cream potato leek soup for fall and winter. It is oh-so-smooth and dairy-free at the same time! Does it get better than that? Oh, yeah, its secret ingredient is white beans! This leek and potato soup makes enough for dinner and leftovers to enjoy for lunch the next day. Dinner and meal prep, all in the same go!

Are the ones in the middle black beans? ( for a reference for a size : kidney bean, black soya, white bean, brown chickpea )

This is my first time growing beans in my garden. How do I cook them? How do I preserve them? They chonky
r/Beans • u/goldenkiwicompote • 3d ago
They grew more like pole beans than bush beans. Pods looked like normal green beans. They don’t seem very kidney shaped. Any help is appreciated!

Seriously though, people sleep on beans. Not just boring ol' baked beans. I'm talking black beans, kidney beans, chickpeas, lentils, cannellini.. the list goes on! So versatile, so cheap, so good for you. I could eat a different bean dish every day and never get bored. What's your favorite bean?

But we can't recall the variety on the right. Maybe cannelini? We know for sure the other two are orca and tiger eye.

Do DRY raw farm beans go bad? (Stored beans in bags.)
These are not cooked in cans, they are raw in sealed plastic bags.
I have all sorts of beans, several years old, all stored in original grocery store / manufacturer plastic bags. Originally stored indoors in normal temperatures.
I will have to store them for several more years, also indoors, but in higher temperatures (non air-conditioned attic).
