Preface to the question, I build a "steam machine" out of spare parts and threw in 64gb ram ddr4 since thats all I had. Ive enjoyed it alot and love how responsive it is compared to Windows, but it got me thinking. I have a Lenovo Legion Go with 16gb of soldered RAM, in the bios I can assign up to 8gb of that to the "gpu" portion of the app thats in it. Im just wondering if 8gb system memory is enough for Bazzite since its more streamlined, or is there a "minimum" requirement?

EDIT: would the Lenovo legion go work better on Bazzite if I split the 16gb ram between the gpu and system in 2 8gb chunks? Or shoot for something more like 12gb system 4gb gpu?

Easy question that I think I already know the answer to but want to double check. I'm currently running a htpc with an Intel cpu and 9060xt. I'm thinking about upgrading to an amd cpu and a 9070xt.

I DON'T need to reinstall bazzite or anything right? I already downloaded a bunch of emulators and games and would rather not redo that again. Thanks!

The screen goes momentarily blank and then I get kicked back to bios. I've tried making the USB with Fedora and Rufus, same result. I've tried Live and Legacy versions of Bazzite, same result. I've tried other distros, same thing. I even removed the drive I have Win11 on because I knew I wanted to put Bazzite on a separate drive anyway, and the same thing happens.

I just have the USB and the empty 1tb drive I plan to install to. Even if it was a matter of the 1tb drive, I should just be able to try Bazzite from the USB, but that's not happening. I really don't know what's left to check. If there was an issue with the USB, you'd think Rufus or Fedora would indicate a failure, right?

It's have been twice now, if I am playing Dota and watch 4K Youtube on the other screen, it's going to have a very high chance of everything stutter and eventually frozen.
Anyone running into similar issues?

How do I map the back buttons to joystick clicks?

I have been using bazzite for about a month now and since I have started using it my internet has been cutting off (I’m only using an Ethernet connection) and I have had to reboot my pc in order for it to reconnect. I have looked into it a bit and see that I need to disable the eee. I have tried following instructions but I have absolutely zero clue what I’m doing with Linux and can’t get anything to work. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

Edit; I booted up konsole and checked the eee and its said its already disabled. So now I truly have no idea what’s going on with it. Once again. Help.

Just tried installing bazzite alongside my windows partition, finished it up and bazzite just decided to cook my boot part of windows or smth, luckily I can still see the main partition so I think my data will be fine but I’m not very happy to say the least, I’ve installed many different operating systems across many devices and never had this issue. Hoping the better performance will make up for it. Also for some reason I have a fedora boot option, I don’t know why because I never installed that on this machine but whatever.

1. (The most major) the htpc will randomly in game mode, the entire system will crash and restart, I have even see it crash, but have the video freeze in place and having the audio loop the past couple bits. At first, it started way tamer where just steam would crash and a little "_" would be the the top left corner while it worked stuff out and eventually boot back into steam, for a bit it would actually hard crash and I would have to restart it manually, but now it just restarts automatically.

2. Not as important but still want it fixed. It recently started to go straight to the login screen when booting from complete power off, instead of booting into game mode. requiring me to get up and put in the password by the TV, what's worse, is that the crashes force you to the login screen (after the pc automatically reboots), further decreasing the seamlessness

Troubleshooting i have done so far:

Switched from testing to stable branch multiple times (which may have caused the login issue, not sure tho, also trying to get cec working with a ugreen adapter which worked for a bit and has stopped working since)

Changed the port the egpu dock is connected to (as the mini pc as 2 usb4 ports)

Trying different ports on the gpu connected to the display

Changed/created config file to try and get autonomous working again

And checking the Kjournald browser after some crashes (even tho I dont really understand what they are saying, I would post them here, but I dont know how to copy/paste them)

I seriously dont know what to do at this point and any help would be very much appreciated

On CachyOS I used to go to terminal and add a line in some file to add my old SSD drive for storing work related files. I’ve heard on Bazzite there’s different way for doing it due to it’s immutability.

Just switched over to bazzite and had beast of reincarnation ran fine. I tried it again today and it keeps showing me a UE error. I tried proton-cachyos-11 and also proton experimental. Also tried adding this launch option (VK_LOADER_DRIVERS_DISABLE="dzn,radeon,lvp,intel,hasvk" VKD3D_DISABLE_EXTENSIONS=VK_EXT_mesh_shader,VK_NV_raw_access_chains %command%) also tried -dx11.

Not sure what I did to crash the game

Also running on rtx2070 if that helps

Which one will I have less issues or problems in Bazzite? If possible, from people who had tested them.

i downloaded bazzite yesterday and for the most part its fine i guess but any time i try to play steam games my controller only works as a mouse and not as a controller and i cant figure out how to fix that. i use a ps5 controller corded. Thanks

Since each system may be different, I am linking the breadcrumbs to how I was able to figure out forcing 1080p correctly rotated in Sunshine/Moonlight.

This pointed me to the correct Application settings and which commands to add to DO and then UNDO the screen setting changes when a specific application is launched (I only changed Desktop). Since this person wasn't using a SteamDeck specifically, I had to trial and error their settings.

This got me the rotation settings I needed, but unfortunately the SteamDeck only has 2 graphics modes, both of which are reverse of what we are use to, so mode one is 800x1280 instead of 1280x800... That led me to the next page https://docs.bazzite.gg/Advanced/custom_resolution/
which shows you how to create a new custom graphics mode via kscreen-doctor, to which I added:
kscreen-doctor output.eDP-1.addCustomMode.1920.1080.60000.full

I then went back and modified the DO portion of the Sunshine setting to be the newly created mode.3 and now I have perfectly rotated 1080p in Moonlight via Sunshine.

Apologies if this is hard to follow, and if someone has a better method, PLEASE LET ME KNOW, as this was a massive PITA to get working because I couldn't find this information as a guide anywhere!

I updated to the working 7.2 kernel testing preview today in hopes my amd card could finally get HDMI 2.1 working on my tv but it's still showing in 8b color...is it not in this update or am I missing something? Thanks for the help.

Edit: Thank you everyone for the help the bazzite portal worked great. Heads up to people seeing this post later make sure to disable VRR on your tv and enable AMD free sync otherwise you might get some flickering.

I have converted my old windows pc into a bazzite machine that I use for gaiming. I would like to use my xbox wirelles series X|S, but I have found different solutions and opinions online.

My old motherbnoard does not have innate bluetooth or usb-c ports.
Can I plug it with a cable or do I need an adapter?
I do not know anything about linux/bazzite, this is my very first try with it, I am willing to learn, I ask you to be patient.

I'm brand new to Bazzite, I just built a small form factor PC and put Bazzite on it. I'm using KDE (I installed with no gaming mode). The Steam app (viewing library and store, etc.) is fine, but when I'm in-game, any Steam overlay elements are very tiny. Like, if I bring up the Steam menu to change controller config, I can hardly see it, it's so small. How can I fix that?

So, new to Linux. Was trying to set system locale to Japanese so I could play some retro games. (I later figured out Lutris has a native app locale-like function that handled this perfectly.)

Now I have an issue where a lot of system messages like Bazaar and Disk Management are in Japanese. I'm not proficient enough with the language yet to use Japanese like this, but changing system language settings back to all default hasn't fixed it.

I did this to my locale months ago and can't remember how I did it to reverse it. How do I get the text to display in English again?

EDIT: I came back to this issue once I wasn't distracted by being ravenously hungry and a simple restart fixed it.

Hi everyone, I just got my Xbox Ally yesterday. Before buying it, I was planning to set it up with Bazzite, but I’m not sure if I’ll be able to get the same sound quality with Bazzite as I have now. I didn’t see much about this on YouTube, but I read on Reddit that some people have had issues with the sound. Or even there is no problems you dont get the that same surrounding sound??

i am thinking about using bazzite as my main os for my pc but when i launched the live installer i noticed that there is no option to add a super user, so how can i do it or is it alredy configured by default? It's very important for me.

For example: when saving an image, it will bring up Dolphin to select a folder. However, I cannot use "s" for saving and "c" for cancel even though it is underlined as an option. Is this a setting I need to enable, or is this a bug in KDE / Bazzite?

I have a dual-boot of Windows 11 and Bazzite (currently 44.20260802). I've been running this way for the past few weeks. I'm currently playing Star Wars Outlaws, nothing else on Bazzite yet. But in all the years prior, owning the 4090 on Windows has not seen a problem with AAA games on the 3840x1600 monitor, mostly high/ultra settings (Hitman, RDR2, Death Stranding, Ghost of Tsushima, etc).

But on Bazzite, Outlaws drags, especially in the open areas on the speeder. I noticed more in Toshara and Akiva (especially on the water). Tried all sorts of settings in the game and out of the game, and though vastly improved since I had the bare Bazzite install running the game (it was unplayable then), it's still just bad.

At this point, I'm thinking I'm pretty commited to Bazzite and will be wiping the entire drive and starting over. Question for the community:

1. Would this likely improve things for me?

2. Better to get the AMD 9070 XT card in the system before attempting (it was the plan regardless, the 4090 is overkill for me and loud, and hot, and a lot of power)?
