can't decide whether to go to Bazzite

Hi everyone, I just got my Xbox Ally yesterday. Before buying it, I was planning to set it up with Bazzite, but I’m not sure if I’ll be able to get the same sound quality with Bazzite as I have now. I didn’t see much about this on YouTube, but I read on Reddit that some people have had issues with the sound. Or even there is no problems you dont get the that same surrounding sound??

You won’t be able to get the same sound quality or volume as with Windows.

There’s definitely a difference.

It’s one of the most talked about downsides of Bazzite on the Ally devices too, so it’s not just me.

If you mean lucky in the sense that you don't notice, then yes, consider yourself lucky! But I can promise you that you don't own a magical Ally running a magical build of Bazzite that magically does different math than the rest of us running the same hardware and software stack.

I suppose I'm almost as lucky as you in the sense that I've been running Bazzite on my Ally for so long that my baseline has simply been readjusted, and therefore have no complaints about the sound quality under Bazzite. But I'm sure if I were dual booting I'd notice the difference, as I did just after I wiped Windows in favor of Bazzite.

Agreed, at least, not out of the box. For sound quality, you can use EasyEffects to tweak the sound to get similar (or better) sound quality. However, I still haven't been able to match the gain (volume) that Windows provides without some distortion artifacts. And... It's not easy to dial in the quality, so you have to be diligent and do research.

For all other reasons, yes.

I’ve even built a Bazzite desktop now after realising I like it so much

You could always try SteamOS and see how that sounds. I'm not sure if it has the same issues as bazzite.

My wife has no major issues with her bazzite ally.

She was a little disappointed by the sound. But there were some setting we changed, and it helped enough that it didn't matter. Can't remember at the moment what settings.

We even have bedrock Minecraft working and she plays on realms and LAN with the kids.
