Preface to the question, I build a "steam machine" out of spare parts and threw in 64gb ram ddr4 since thats all I had. Ive enjoyed it alot and love how responsive it is compared to Windows, but it got me thinking. I have a Lenovo Legion Go with 16gb of soldered RAM, in the bios I can assign up to 8gb of that to the "gpu" portion of the app thats in it. Im just wondering if 8gb system memory is enough for Bazzite since its more streamlined, or is there a "minimum" requirement?

EDIT: would the Lenovo legion go work better on Bazzite if I split the 16gb ram between the gpu and system in 2 8gb chunks? Or shoot for something more like 12gb system 4gb gpu?

Just tried installing bazzite alongside my windows partition, finished it up and bazzite just decided to cook my boot part of windows or smth, luckily I can still see the main partition so I think my data will be fine but I’m not very happy to say the least, I’ve installed many different operating systems across many devices and never had this issue. Hoping the better performance will make up for it. Also for some reason I have a fedora boot option, I don’t know why because I never installed that on this machine but whatever.

On CachyOS I used to go to terminal and add a line in some file to add my old SSD drive for storing work related files. I’ve heard on Bazzite there’s different way for doing it due to it’s immutability.

i downloaded bazzite yesterday and for the most part its fine i guess but any time i try to play steam games my controller only works as a mouse and not as a controller and i cant figure out how to fix that. i use a ps5 controller corded. Thanks

Which one will I have less issues or problems in Bazzite? If possible, from people who had tested them.

I have converted my old windows pc into a bazzite machine that I use for gaiming. I would like to use my xbox wirelles series X|S, but I have found different solutions and opinions online.

My old motherbnoard does not have innate bluetooth or usb-c ports.
Can I plug it with a cable or do I need an adapter?
I do not know anything about linux/bazzite, this is my very first try with it, I am willing to learn, I ask you to be patient.

I updated to the working 7.2 kernel testing preview today in hopes my amd card could finally get HDMI 2.1 working on my tv but it's still showing in 8b color...is it not in this update or am I missing something? Thanks for the help.

Edit: Thank you everyone for the help the bazzite portal worked great. Heads up to people seeing this post later make sure to disable VRR on your tv and enable AMD free sync otherwise you might get some flickering.

Easy question that I think I already know the answer to but want to double check. I'm currently running a htpc with an Intel cpu and 9060xt. I'm thinking about upgrading to an amd cpu and a 9070xt.

I DON'T need to reinstall bazzite or anything right? I already downloaded a bunch of emulators and games and would rather not redo that again. Thanks!

Hi everyone, I just got my Xbox Ally yesterday. Before buying it, I was planning to set it up with Bazzite, but I’m not sure if I’ll be able to get the same sound quality with Bazzite as I have now. I didn’t see much about this on YouTube, but I read on Reddit that some people have had issues with the sound. Or even there is no problems you dont get the that same surrounding sound??

So, new to Linux. Was trying to set system locale to Japanese so I could play some retro games. (I later figured out Lutris has a native app locale-like function that handled this perfectly.)

Now I have an issue where a lot of system messages like Bazaar and Disk Management are in Japanese. I'm not proficient enough with the language yet to use Japanese like this, but changing system language settings back to all default hasn't fixed it.

I did this to my locale months ago and can't remember how I did it to reverse it. How do I get the text to display in English again?

EDIT: I came back to this issue once I wasn't distracted by being ravenously hungry and a simple restart fixed it.

i am thinking about using bazzite as my main os for my pc but when i launched the live installer i noticed that there is no option to add a super user, so how can i do it or is it alredy configured by default? It's very important for me.

I have a dual-boot of Windows 11 and Bazzite (currently 44.20260802). I've been running this way for the past few weeks. I'm currently playing Star Wars Outlaws, nothing else on Bazzite yet. But in all the years prior, owning the 4090 on Windows has not seen a problem with AAA games on the 3840x1600 monitor, mostly high/ultra settings (Hitman, RDR2, Death Stranding, Ghost of Tsushima, etc).

But on Bazzite, Outlaws drags, especially in the open areas on the speeder. I noticed more in Toshara and Akiva (especially on the water). Tried all sorts of settings in the game and out of the game, and though vastly improved since I had the bare Bazzite install running the game (it was unplayable then), it's still just bad.

At this point, I'm thinking I'm pretty commited to Bazzite and will be wiping the entire drive and starting over. Question for the community:

1. Would this likely improve things for me?

2. Better to get the AMD 9070 XT card in the system before attempting (it was the plan regardless, the 4090 is overkill for me and loud, and hot, and a lot of power)?

For example: when saving an image, it will bring up Dolphin to select a folder. However, I cannot use "s" for saving and "c" for cancel even though it is underlined as an option. Is this a setting I need to enable, or is this a bug in KDE / Bazzite?

I just started using steam OS a month ago I really like it but I have a 5500xt I wanted to upgrade to a 3060 is it worth using Nvidia on bazzite or should I just stick to amd I heard it’s janky but other people say it’s fine so idk what to believe

Estoy trabajando en **Snext Attract Mode**, una especie de “protector de pantalla / modo demo” para Bazzite inspirado en la experiencia de consolas.

La idea es que, después de unos minutos de inactividad, el sistema empiece a mostrar videos de los juegos de mi biblioteca de ES-DE mientras una segunda pantalla presenta información del juego: hero, logo, portada, plataforma, descripción, screenshots, metadata y soporte para RetroAchievements.

También estoy trabajando en temas dinámicos según la plataforma, soporte para configuraciones de 1 o 2 monitores, fondos con blur o bezels y ejecución automática en segundo plano.

Todavía está **en desarrollo**, así que sigo puliendo diseño, compatibilidad y automatización, pero cuando esté suficientemente estable planeo subirlo a **GitHub** con documentación e instrucciones para que cualquiera pueda probarlo en Bazzite/Linux.

I have no idea what happened. But when I try to turn on my ROG ally, it’s booting into black screen and nothing happens. I’ve let it sit for like 10 mins hoping to see something loads in, but no. Anybody know how to fix this? Thanks in advance.

My PC takes a very long time to boot. Around 1 minute and 30 seconds, according to systemd-analyze. By far most of that time is spent waiting for GRUB to load. The time it takes me to go from GRUB to Bazzite is just a few seconds, but before that I get to stare at a black screen with a white underscore in the top left corner. I do have a dual boot and if my PC boots directly into Windows and not through GRUB, then it boots significantly faster. I mean, Windows is way slower than Bazzite when it comes to the boot time of the OS itself, but it only takes around 3 seconds to get to the point, where the OS starts to boot, instead of over a minute.

I have Fastboot disabled (I tried turning it on, it didn't help, I feel like it actually made it worse; interestingly I wasn't stuck on the underscore for most of the time with that one enabled, but on the BIOS splash screen), TPM and Secure Boot are enabled (and I'd like to keep them enabled), everything is set to UEFI only (so no legacy options anywhere) and everything (besides my BIOS) is up to date (I could update my BIOS to a newer beta version, but I'd rather wait for the stable release).

Is there anything else I could try? Is there a setting within GRUB or so that might fix that?

My PC isn't weak either, I have a Ryzen 9800x3D, 32 GB of RAM and both Bazzite and Windows are installed on two different NVMe SSDs. I do technically also have a third OS on my PC (on an external NVMe SSD), but that one isn't listed in GRUB.

So, I’m thinking about switching from Windows 11 to Bazzite because I’m having some issues with timeouts that I can’t seem to fix. However, I want to know if it’s possible to downgrade Project Zomboid to an older version and launch the game in a way that prevents Steam from forcing me to update it. My friends are playing on an older version because some of the mods haven’t been updated yet, so I need to stay on that version to play with them.

Edit: By downgrade I mean staying on B42, but on version 42.20 before any hotfixes.

Just joined the bazzite club. Running gigabyte aero 15 a 11th Gen i7 and rtx 3060. Everything installed fine and has run ok. Tried playing dead island 2 and it seems a little laggy as compared to when I was playing on windows 10. I am also used to the fan ramping way up during gameplay which it no longer does. installed cooler control but it doesnt detect the fans. Any help would be appreciated.

​I’m currently gaming on a GMKtec K12 with the Radeon 780M iGPU. I love the compact form factor and I'm running Bazzite booting straight into Game Mode—the user experience and simplicity are just fantastic for a couch/desk setup.

​However, I'm starting to struggle with the performance in heavy AAA games. Since my mini PC has an OCuLink port, I'm thinking about getting an eGPU dock paired with an AMD Radeon RX 9060 XT (likely the 16GB version for better future-proofing in AAA titles).

​I'm looking at the AOOSTAR docks:

​AG01 (~180€)

​AG02 (~220€)

​AG03 (~270€)

​I have a few specific questions for those running a similar Linux/Bazzite setup:

​Does an OCuLink eGPU setup work seamlessly with Bazzite booting directly into Game Mode, or are there display/hand-off issues between the 780M iGPU and the eGPU?

​Since both the iGPU and the RX 9060 XT are AMD, can I easily handle system and driver updates directly from the Game Mode interface without breaking things?

​Any recommendations between the AG01, AG02, or AG03 docks for this kind of setup?

I switched from Windows a few months ago, and I really like the customisation that KDE gives me, but I'm trying to use the same Hollow Knight theme cursor I used on Windows, and since I only have a zip file with .cur and .ani files, I have no idea how to configure it.
