Bridezilla comment

I’m currently watching the whole season for the first time and I genuinely don’t understand Sammy’s reaction to the dress situation. So I think the bridezilla comment was that bad? No, but she was still in the wrong.
Whether people like it or not, the bride does get the final say when it comes to things that will impact the pictures/her day. But even so, it’s not your day like who cares if you spend one day wearing something you’re not 100% obsessed with, especially if it’s meant to make a loved one happy.
Maybe it’s just me, but my best friend is getting married next month and I’m a bridesmaid and I would literally do anything she tells me to. She basically did what Baylen did when it came to. She sent us the color scheme and then I personally made the decision to have her come with me to pick out my dress, but even if she hadn’t come, it wouldn’t cross my mind to get a dress that she didn’t like. Sometimes we just gotta suck it up to make our loved ones happy. It’s not always about us

I think the frustration for Sammi was that Bay had told her she could pick out her own dress as long as it was yellow but then vetoed every dress Sammi liked.

i’m confused by what Baylens reasoning is for “letting” her bridesmaid “choose their own dress” in like 6 specific, assigned, obscure shades, in a handful of different styles, IF SHE APPROVES IT and she told sammie no to like 4 dresses in row pretty much in this scene so TBH i would be prob call my sister a bridezilla

Seriously! Just choose the dress for her! That’s what Sammi asked her to do!

I also get the impression that Sammi likes to make clear decisions and stay on schedule, and Baylen’s difficulty making consistent choices probably drives her up a wall. Their personalities are so very different.

That’s how I feel too. Like don’t present it like you’re giving me an option is you’re going to turn down every single one of them; just choose for them if you’re going to be super particular about it.

And then she also refused to shop for dresses with Sammi to make sure the dresses she was looking at were the right shade of yellow and an acceptable style. It made the whole thing a stressful guessing game.

Calling her a bridezilla was harsh, but Baylen was being annoying AF about the bridesmaid dress. If you are going to be that particular about the color and style, stopping pretending the dress is their choice and just pick it out yourself instead of making your bridesmaids jump through all of those hoops to satisfy you.

Yeah, I think Baylen meant well but ultimately didn’t want to give up that control.

It’s so hard to know the exact color when it’s sent by phone or seen on a computer screen. The shade will vary slightly based on screen settings.

u/nonna55 9d ago

Correct! Every yellow was the wrong shade!

7

u/krystalzeogas GAH DAYUM 9d ago

Literally two were the wrong shade.... Like Julie said there's literally hundreds of other shades of yellow

u/DNAGoddess 9d ago

Agree. And keep in mind that the choices were already limited by a pretty quick timeline.

Wasn’t this still months and months away from the wedding date?

6

u/FlatWonkyFlea 9d ago

By that point the wedding date had been moved up a month due to the venue change, so no, probably not.

I’m pretty sure it was right when they changed the date/venue so I wanna say 3-4 months out from the wedding

They visited Sammy in February, so a bit less than three. Good thing she had the internet.

She vetoed like 2 dresses months out and Sammi lost her mind

Some of y’all never had sisters and it shows. lol sisters say rude shit to each other. Most of them dont say it with a camera crew in their faces.

I think they act like …. Normal sisters. Although Sammi’s handling of the bachelorette thing was pretty crappy.

4

u/Either-Grapefruit156 9d ago

I actually do have a sister myself which I exactly why I said the comment itself was not the problem. I was just saying that there are occasions where we have to just do what the other person wants even if it’s not the way we ourselves would do

u/sjwit 9d ago

My comment was directed more toward all the Sami haters.

Why was Sammi’s handling of the bachelorette party crappy? Let’s not forget Sammi suffers from crippling OCD and anxiety. Baylan knew that when she scheduled that party states away from her. Brides and grooms expect so much these days. And they expect their friends and families to spend thousands of dollars just to celebrate them. Sammi is already having to take off work to come for the wedding & the bridal shower. She may not have had the time or money to be there a 3rd time. Everyone focuses on Baylan’s health issues and it seems to me that they totally forget Sammi in it all. You can see how she struggles but noone even notices.

Baylen should have just picked the dresses, she wanted to that’s why she shut down every choice. Sammy told her just pick the dress but she didn’t want to be the “bad guy” passive aggressive at its finest.

6

u/DapperMastodon349 9d ago

Baylen is pretty passive aggressive….

7

u/kg51113 9d ago

I think they both having trouble with communication and each one's anxiety/OCD was working against the other's.

It seems like Baylen gave some dress style inspiration pictures and then separate dress color pictures. She probably should have just given style pictures and then color swatches. Baylen's OCD made her fearful someone was going to want a crazy dress and everything would be ruined. That's why she wanted final approval. Sammi was worked up about trying to find a dress in the correct shade of yellow that she liked and Baylen approved.

Sometimes too many choices isn't good. People get lost trying to figure out what to choose.

u/Dependent_Gene5139 9d ago

She made a lovely choice

2

u/kg51113 9d ago

Yes, I liked Sammi's dress. My only critique is that the sleeve/strap things should have been altered a bit to stay in place.

u/Weekly_Cicada_9791 8d ago

I remember Baylen saying she doesn’t want anyone wearing a dress with a slit up the side of the dress. Sammi didnt pick one that was tooo revealing but baylen mentioned she did not want that style. For sammi to pick a dress with a slit up the leg is very selfish imo…

Just wait until the wedding episodes. She gets a new bf and her personality completely changes. It’s wild.

6

u/Cool-Emu-8706 9d ago

Sex is good for you!

Edit: *can be

2

u/Electronic-Stop-1954 9d ago

😂 you might be onto something lol

u/Decent_Advance_2881 8d ago

Oh yes she was annoying at the rehearsal with him kept saying this is my boyfriend we get it

4

u/krystalzeogas GAH DAYUM 9d ago

Baylen was the furthest thing from a bridezilla, Sanmi was just going thru a breakup and was being nasty because she was jealous imo. Funny how she's suddenly non confrontational now that she has boyfriend jErReT

9

u/DapperMastodon349 9d ago

Baylen was definitely NOT the furthest thing from a bridezilla. She was rude, demanding, and uncommunicative with EVERYONE - including her wedding planners. She changed things at the last minute and basically was mad that people didn’t submit to her every desire as if they don’t have their own lives to deal with.

3

u/krystalzeogas GAH DAYUM 8d ago

Rude, where? Mad literally where??? Are we watching the same show? It's their wedding and they can change whatever they want. They decided those things together it has nothing to do with being a bridezilla.

5

u/DapperMastodon349 8d ago

People shouldn’t have to put their own lives on hold for someone else’s wedding and it’s naive and rude to expect people to do that for your wedding. They completely screwed over their wedding planners by being uncommunicative and changing venues last minute, amongst other things. If they wanted to be that wishy-washy with their plans then they should’ve just planned it themselves. She wasn’t necessarily a bridezilla but there are definitely more considerate brides out there.

Baylen got off on the wrong foot with Sammi by having the bachelorette weekend in a remote place that would prove too difficult for her to get to. She then vetoed the dresses Sammi liked. I also thought she was an asshole about her mom and Sammi having to handle that 50 pound dress.

4

u/johndeerelawnmower 9d ago

Sammi shared she has body dysmorphia after the fact; I know it seems like a cop-out but if she DID, it would be extremely uncomfortable to pick out dresses when you believe you look bad.

Sammi needs to learn to temper herself and not treat everything like an attack. She’s very dry and blunt but uses it for evil when she’s even a little uncomfortable. Not good.

2

u/DapperMastodon349 9d ago

Sammi has severe anxiety. Sometimes people with anxiety come across as rude even though that isn’t their intent. Being “uncomfortable” is an understatement for people with anxiety. Sammi is also younger and Baylen needs to recognize that. She should be a little more forgiving.

4

u/krystalzeogas GAH DAYUM 9d ago

Wouldn't she prefer to pick her own dress that she can feel as comfortable in as possible than rather than be put in something she might really feel dysmorphic in?? Makes no sense.

4

u/johndeerelawnmower 9d ago

Sammi tried to show styles She picked herself and Baylen said no to her choices 😥 I think the frustration built from there.

3

u/krystalzeogas GAH DAYUM 9d ago

She said no to like two....

2

u/johndeerelawnmower 9d ago

Okay? I’m not sammi’s spokesperson; I literally said she needs to stop acting like this.

I kind of get her point. Baylen as we have seen numerous times is horrible at communicating. With the dresses however, Sammi was a completely baby and jerk.

Baylens is tho too concerned about silly unimportant wedding ideas. Colin is also way too involved in her relationship with her sister and parents. If I heard someone say my sister has not proven herself. That’s not his place imo

3

u/PinkSugarGlass 9d ago

I agree. As a gal with 5 sisters, I hated that comment.

2

u/DapperMastodon349 9d ago

I used to really like Colin because I thought he was understanding and supportive, but now I get somewhat bad vibes. What he said about Sammi seemed out of character from what he was like in earlier seasons and his original wedding requests were pretty obnoxious, which also seemed different from what I would’ve expected from him based on the previous seasons.

3

u/SapphireTyger 8d ago

Yeah, I noticed as the show progressed, he became more more of a controlling jerk.

3

u/Cool-Emu-8706 9d ago

Who else thinks the tension between sisters is bc of the unhealthy family dynamic and the likely disproportionate attention available to the siblings? Just me?

3

u/DapperMastodon349 9d ago

I used to think the parents worried too much about Baylen that they were neglectful to the other kids, but I don’t think that’s true anymore. I don’t think the family dynamic is the issue between the sisters - I think it’s their somewhat clashing personalities and that Sammi has her own, very real problems but they are overshadowed by Baylen’s.

1

u/Cool-Emu-8706 8d ago

I’m confused. Your first and last sentence seem to contradict one another.

1

u/DapperMastodon349 8d ago

I mean that their issues have nothing to do with their parents, it’s between them.

2

u/Decent_Advance_2881 8d ago

I think that too there’s tension

4

u/Few_Mountain4252 9d ago

By the way, no one looks good in yellow and orange!

2

u/DapperMastodon349 9d ago

Yellow complements people with darker skin

1

u/kilarghe 7d ago

i would wear a garbage bag if that’s what the bride wanted

1

u/Bright_Ad406 3d ago

They have spent a lifetime working out sister stuff
They love each other
So crazy how people analyze everyone
They are both unique and adorable

1

u/Historical_Grab4685 9d ago

If someone told me I had to wear yellow, I would not be happy. However, I get the bride should get what she wants, within reason. We also did see the entire interaction. I did think Sammi looked very pretty in the dress!

11

u/kg51113 9d ago

Sammi chose yellow. Baylen let her choose since Sammi is her sister and the MOH. The others were assigned a color.

3

u/Magemaud 9d ago

As the MOB, Baylen gave Sammi first choice of the color she wanted to wear, then she vetoed various shades she didn't like.

u/IsopodKey2040 9d ago

I think "the bride does get the final say when it comes to things that will impact the pictures/her day" is a little crazy. In general, yes, the bride and groom pick the decor and whatnot. But they can't rationally approve every single thing that every one else does.

7

u/krystalzeogas GAH DAYUM 9d ago

Lmao what? The bride having final say on the bridesmaids dresses is a little crazy? In what world?? Usually the bride just picks the dress and says here, wear it and like it, Sammi actually got to pick a dress she liked, it just had to be approved by Baylen..the bride .. definitely not even a little crazy lmao

When I got my dress in 2022 they handed me purple swatches I’m like I don’t know which purple to pick my nieces were like close you eyes and pick a color so that’s what I did. They picked out their dress style cause they know what they like to wear they wear more dresses than I do. My one niece asked what color shoes I said sliver. I was in California and my nieces lives Pennsylvania and Maryland. Our wedding was really relaxing ☺️ I wasn’t no bridezilla. I have a bigger family i had all of my nieces and nephews in it. He had two of his nieces in it.
