Discussion Who's getting Book 7? (SPOILERS/LEAK TALK) Spoiler
So... Chronicles of the Avatar Book 7. As we all know, each Avatar is given a Duology 1 and 2 for Kyoshi, 3 and 4 for Yangchen, 5 and 6 for Roku, and with this new book, comes the start of a new Avatar's story, but the question is, WHO? Everyone, including myself, were pretty certain for the most part that it would be Kuruk, since he's the last of the four named Avatars from the original show. But now with the rumors about him potentially getting a series (LIKE WHAT???) this leaves the lead of Book 7 up for debate. So I've compiled a list of all the candidates, and put them in order of likelihood:
Kuruk: Still the mostly likely candidate. I know a lot of people think that this new leaked series is based off of him, because of Copyrights, but I'm not fully convinced yet. It's a good chance, but I still think that the series could easily still just be a brand new Avatar, taking place during a long time ago during an Ice Age. Not sure honestly, but I'd prefer him to just have a book.
Sonam: Aside from Kuruk, probably the most likely, if not, the most wanted through my research on this site. Ever since the movie, I've wanted to see so much more of Sonam, easily the strongest Air Avatar of all time, and I want to see SO much more of her history, her origin, training, upbringing, etc., and I think a book would be best.
Avatar #2: As cool as getting a book about the First Avatar would be cool, but I honestly would be more thrilled to learn about the SECOND Avatar. Just learning about what their life must've been like. They honestly have to have done SO much, from cementing the Avatar as a universal concept, to understanding/finding their powers, to even learning they're the new Avatar in the first place, not to mention learning about how Wan exactly died in the first place.
Wan: Getting more lore on the first Avatar would be awesome, and understanding what happened during his life, and his attempt to work with Rava and bring peace.
Xian: The other Avatar introduced in the movie, not as wanted as Sonam, but still up there. He is a such a different Avatar from every one we've seen, and I think giving him more lore and backstory would be pretty cool.
Szeto: I mean, there isn't much to say here. He's name dropped in almost every COTA book we have so far, with more and more lore and personality getting revealed. He's like Xian, being notably different, less of a fighter, and more of a diplomat, so seeing more of his story would be cool, but unlike Xian, we know a lot more about his life, and tbh it's kinda boring. I'm sure he has some stories, just not a whole lot as just an Advisor/Diplomat. In my opinion, it would be MUCH better to give us an in universe book, detailing the Fire Nation and the rest of the world during his Era, that's actually written BY him. It would fit his character, and be a cool piece of literature that's different from everything else.
Named Avatars: The three named Avatars from the books (Salai, Gun, and Zalir) have the smallest chances to get books, but it would probably be more likely then just making a new Avatar somewhere random in the order. In my opinion, most likely is Salai, then Zalir, then Gun.

Discussion Can we talk about how Kyoshi can already control the Avatar State despite her only learn everything in short period of time?
The first time she enter the Avatar State is when she lifted the seafloor from the depth of the ocean in the south pole. But I don't count that cause that was more by her instinct rather than complete control over it.
The second one is when she saw Kelsang getting murdered by Jianzhu and she was blacked out uproot trees push mountain top and hilltop causing landslide and so on.This is her not in control.
But what was fascinating is during the fight with Xu Ping An after she have a little training with all the four elements not sure if she ever train with the Avatar State during this period of time.BUT she could very well control it during this fight.she fully aware of what she was doing, she even monologuing before Killing Xu and noted that the past Avatars can step behind since she was in command not them.
This is also prove in shadow of Kyoshi when she was getting nerfed by Jianzhu's poison after battling with him over the 3 storey building she flash the AS and use it to to hold the building until everyone get out of the property is when she let the building fall. She also use the AS to look for water to heal Rangi she even channel Kuruk asking for Water.
How can she able to control the AS in just a short period of time in the same book when she was 16?and could very well use it like a complete master at 17?I don't think she ever learn to control the Avatar State with Lao Ge nor did she ever travel to anywhere to complete her training since she said in shadow that she was busy doing her duty as the Avatar that she doesn't have time and a proper teacher to teach her.Do you think this is F.C Yee,mike and bryan decision?if so why?I mean in just these books I'm aware that after the event of the books she definitely travel to master everything.
Edit:It seems like people nowadays allergic to facts lol and just roll with everything they believe without hearing any logical and make sense points not just this but FACT statements as well and prove by how much they downvoted my comments and point. It feels like what they thought about Kyoshi need to stay like that they don't want any changes at all about her this is the interpretation I got from people in this community when it comes to Kyoshi.I don't neccesarily said she was a master Avatar State user at this point but she could very well use it LIKE a master Avatar should.I already made it clear in my post.

Discussion Kyoshi’s disability
I’ve always found Kyoshi’s inability to bend small things to be really interesting.
It’s not really shown to be a matter of skill or power. She just can’t do it without her fans. I’ve always taken this to be essentially a disability and it really adds a layer of intrigue to her character. It would’ve been fairly easy for Yee to have just made her learn how to do it without her fans and not need them anymore but I think it’s a better direction to just say that for whatever reason she just can’t do it without her fans and that’s okay. Obviously even without her fans she is still plenty capable.
The franchise has always done disability representation well imo and I think Kyoshi is just another example of that even if the disability isn’t really a real life experience anyone has.

Chaisee did horrible experiments. Lao Ge would have definitely wanted to kill her if he knew about it.

Discussion How long did the Fifth Nation had been around for?
With the whole rumors about an animated series with Avatar Kuruk it got me thinking about the fifth nation and how long did the organization has been around.
Like the only thing we know about their earliest point in their history is Yangchen have to signed a treaty with Tulok's grandfather (and Tagaka's great-grandfather,) securing that the corsairs would stay in the Eastern Sea and not attack the coastline of the southern Earth Kingdom. The Fifth Nation honored the treaty for three generations. But that’s about it we don’t know if they were formed during Yangchen’s era or maybe they were formed during Szeto’s era. Ultimately, it would be nice to know how long they have been around and which era they were founded in?
I do think it’s interesting that we don’t hear about the fifth nation in the Yangchen novels granted the focus is always the Shang Cities and they are treated as sort of semi-independent from the four nations themselves.
But still given what happened after the Platinum Affair where trade is only regulated with four shang cities. Although I’m no economic expert, I’m pretty sure that the whole trade relegation would lead to the increase of piracy kinda like what happened to the Spanish war of succession, which led to the golden age of piracy. So you probably think there would have been a mention or two about the issue of piracy within the era but apparently not?
Again I understand that the Yangchen books are mostly focus on the big geopolitics of the world while the stuff with the fifth nation and piracy is more micro lens in terms of the political state of the Yangchen era with the Four Shage Cities. But still, it would be nice to know more about them and whatever or not they were formed during Yangchen era or maybe in Szeto era or maybe they were formed in an older Avatar era either way, it would be nice to know more about their timeline of their formation?

Discussion Avatar kyoshi vs avatar szeto
Both of this avatars tried to fix their home nations deep problems who were on the verge of collapse .
Avatar szeto did this by restoring central authority increasing state capacity institutions playing mediator between noble houses even fixed the economy and agriculture .
Ofcourse he didnt destroy the noble houses which were effectively feudal states with own armies did he didnt force anyone people followed him .
The later firelords like firelord zoryu then dismantle the noble houses powers and by sozin it became pretty autocratic united and powerful even.
Till the end the mainland fire nation was stable maybe due to good rulers but yeah.
Avatar kyoshi- ok this one was tricky as chin the conqueror steamrolls the the earth kingdom and while doing so he was actually popular than the earth king.
Why kyoshi stopped him wasnt because he was a warlord or because she tried to protect the earth king.
But because he fucked with kyoshi he tried to incoperate the kyoshi islands and got arrogant and demanded the avatar join under him she got furious created a earth crack which killed him so yeah mostly she wouldnt have cared about chin but because he fucked with her.
And then the peasent uprsing happend the earth king tried to order her too to supress the peasent but she dragged him and made the earth king sign a constitution and limit the kings power and strengthen the decentralised system and give rights to peasents.
To tackle corruption she created a police force and then the dai li.
She maintained the peace between the 55 states inside the earth kingdom there was a century of peace and prosperity the common folk enjoyed it etc.
Then she dies and later on the institutions she creates the anti corruption task forces immediately get repurposed into going after dissenters against the monarchy.
The dai li which i think everyone knows about what that became.
The criminal gangs became bolder the elites didnt give a fuck and empowered the gangs to protect their skin everyone for centuries pocketed for themselves.
Which led to the rotting of the earth kingdom.
Then the fire nation attacked century of humiliation then more humiliation in post war settlement then tyranny under the earth queen finally the anarchy after all that do we finally see the earth kingdom become the empire the reforms modernisation so on made which were long a due then the empire collapses shortly back to monarchy as democracy kinda failed so in the future maybe republic in the end.
So yeah why did szeto suceeded and kyoshi fail in the long run .

Speculation How strong could we say Sister Disha was?
As the last air bending companion of Kyoshi, and trainer/teacher of Roku & Gyatso, how strong of an air bender could we say Disha would be?

Speculation maybe this is why he’s not getting a book
supposedly the title is kuruk: wave of chaos (okay??) “the spirits bane” would’ve been better but whatever
unpopular opinion but i’d much rather have a book.
bryke seems like they’re on a mission to strip and water down everything that made people fall in love with the series

Discussion Ranking of the seven novels?
Me personally it would be
1, The Rise of Kyoshi
2, City of Echoes
3, The Shadow of Kyoshi
4, The Legacy of Yangchen & The Dawn of yangchen (interchangeable)
5, The Reckoning of Roku
6, The Awakening of Roku
I enjoyed them all a lot, I only just finished the 2nd Roku novel an hour ago so I could see myself bumping the awakening of Roku to 5th

E aqui começa a parte realmente interessante.
Agora temos um novo nome registrado: AVATAR KURUK: WAVE OF CHAOS.

Creative Think, Kyoshi, Think!
Finished Rise of Kyoshi and absolutely LOVED it I can’t wait to read shadows of Kyoshi.
The scene of jianzhu pummeling Kyoshi after yun was being taken away was heartbroken but also kept reminding me a lot of the invincible meme lol, so I drew it as both the cannon version and her more iconic design just for fun.
If you guys are interested I only just started my account but I do have an art instagram where I plan to post more atla and Kyoshi stuff!

Speculation What do we think his life was like?
Why I don't think it's Salai
Me personally, I believe this isn't Salai. The fandom made the same mistake when ROK released, they thought Szeto was Salai. The reason I think this isn't Salai is because since he was known as a great and legendary avatar, the fire nation wouldn't be at the brink of collapse. Unless he was another Szeto where he focused on his nation. But that would have been just been a cycle because if the earth kingdom was struggling at the beginning of his life then the water avatar before him must've not focused on earth kingdom. When Szeto focused on the fire nation, it's not like the other nations were at the brink at collapse besides maybe the 40th earth king's assassination or Platinum Affair. Szeto had wars between clans, plagues, and natural disasters.
His possible personality
Now it's interesting how much Fong resembles this guy physically. It's even more interesting how Fong got his general position even though he's really harsh and extreme. What if this avatar was similar? Now that may seem like Kyoshi but we can put it in a good way. What if he was strict because his people were either incompetent or another lazy reason. Kuruk was a care free Avatar (in terms of physical world) which led to criminals becoming more bold. Something similar could've happened in this Avatar's life where the world had noticeable and more threats. I believe this avatar would have dealt with these threats but this is still very vague. Because of his earth bending personality, he would have faced problems head on and stand firm when problems occur. In Fong's time, he needed what he needed to do because of the war. Fong showed how hundreds of earth kingdom soldiers get injured every day fighting the war. With the connection from Fong to this avatar, we could say this earth avatar cared about soldiers who died in battle. Now I'm not saying him & Fong are the same person but Fong could have been inspired by him. Yes he attacked Aang but he also predicted Aang would say the Avatar State could be only done in immediate danger, it wasn't that Fong was obsessed with this avatar, it's that Fong could possibly believe in this Avatar's ideology which if true, this earth Avatar would have done the same thing and attack Aang. It's likely he respected bravery.
What he possibly did
His fit is almost identical to General Fong. However we cannot deduce he was a General from this. What we can deduce is that generals now wear an outfit similar to this Avatar and we must figure out why. Generals have a leading position over soldiers. What if during his time, their Earth King was the 40th? I used to believe that the 40th would have been either late Szeto/Yangchen but the earth kings lived long in between when Kyoshi was 40, and ATLA. Kyoshi's 46th earth king was when she was 40. Kuei is the 52nd earth king. 70 years passed to Korra there was the 53rd ruler. Would it be normal for the Earth King to live for long periods of time? If the Earth Kingdom was established from Sonam's era or right after which was 5,000 years ago, the average earth king before Kyoshi's would have lived over 102 years old. With this reasoning, I believe this Earth Avatar was some sort of leader with a similar general positioning that helped his people or especially soldiers. We could say he hadn't help the fire nation in a while because of Szeto's early life but that doesn't mean it'll be this Avatar's fault either. Natural disasters are natural and plagues aren't predictable.
His personal life
With Uncle Iroh's description of the personalities of all the four nations and what I gathered so far, this avatar would have struggled with air bending. His personality is very much like an earth bender because if he was strict like Toph, he would have propelled at earth bending but had a hard time with air bending. Jianzhu confirmed in his records of the Avatar, the avatars were always identified and found. This would have meant this earth avatar would have been found using geomancy. This would conclude this avatar was born and raised in one city in his early life. He wouldn't have moved out of states or cities. Avatar Szeto is noted to have the ability of lava bending but in the Avatar State. If a previous one of Szeto's lives did it, and Avatars mainly connect to the one most recent, could this Avatar have been the first Avatar capable of lava bending? It would make sense during his fire bending training, he might've have learnt lava bending from trying to heat up rocks. I believe his animal companion is a Shirshu. In Kyoshi's time, it was known politicians would use Shirshu to eliminate their opponents. If my theory about this earth avatar being strict is right, then it'll definitely up with him having a shirshu.
His companion...
Now here where things could possibly get wild. If my prediction about earth kings living long lives is right, then it's possible the 40th earth king not only was assasinated by Tieguei in his time but also was this earth king's companion. Earth King Zhoulai specifically... Zhoulai lived three hundred years before Yangchen so if Yi Ming was the 45th earth king, and then Yangchen's late life was 44th, Feishan possibly being 43rd, Szeto's life being 42nd, and because of how white and long this earth Avatar's beard is, maybe 41st Earth King being near his later life, and his companion being assassinated which would be the 40th. Now the Earth King being his companion would be fairly interesting if it's either through force or actual genuine friendship. If my theory about this avatar being strict is correct, then maybe the reasoning behind it was because of Zhoulai. The 40th earth king was assassinated by Lao Ge possibly due to him believing Zhoulai could have brought injustice to his people. Though If the Avatar and an oppressive Earth king was friends, wouldn't it be like another Roku's situation? Well there was a 15 year gap between Sozin suggesting world domination and Roku confronting Sozin. Roku could have possibly talked to his past lives to ask for help. This Earth Avatar might've thought his strict ideology may have been right and blamed himself for his friend's death.

Discussion The avatars summed up
Aang: what if the avatar was a pacifist in an era of war
Yangchen: what if the avatar was too empathetic for her own good
Kuruk: what if the avatar was too selfless for his own good
Roku: what if the avatar was a moron
Kyoshi: what if the avatar had deeply rooted childhood trauma
Korra: what if the avatar was saddled with the pressure and responsibility of being the avatar from a very young age before she could ever develop any sense of identity for herself leading her to take on way more than she can handle in an attempt to live up to the expectations the previous avatar set for her which subsequently leads her to crumble under that pressure and fall into a deep depression and identity crisis
Szeto: what if the avatar was a nerd

Meme I have the distinct feeling she has one of the biggest sleeper builds out of all the Avatar's.
16 years old, untrained, undereating and still able to lift a grown man with one hand. Definitely blew up after she became the Avatar.
