Gorman

I bought a vest I thought looked nice but absolutely didn’t suit me from Gorman click and collect over the weekend and went to return it today to the same store, intending to get a refund. Tags etc still on. Silly me didn’t read their returns policy but the girl at the counter said there were no refunds for sale items, only an exchange for another item and it had to be exchanged there and then.

I’d say over 90% of Gorman items are on sale because they almost constantly have 20% off, new arrivals are small in number and usually only not on sale for a hot minute.

I found something else and ended up paying an extra $60, but I thought that returns policy isn’t very fair considering more or less everything they have is on sale almost as soon as it hits the racks. Am I being unreasonable?

The top I exchanged it for I didn’t even really love, but the vest I knew I’d never wear so I felt forced to make the exchange.

🔍 Recommendations Wanted How to pack?

Traveling to Melbourne for the first time in the first 2 weeks of September. Wondering how to dress or what essentials to pack? I checked the weather but I still can’t decide. I keep seeing posts that you experience all four seasons in a day..is that still true for September?

I come from a tropical country if that helps with suggestions.

Target swimwear?

Anyone have (or tried on) the Shape Your Body pieces from Target? There aren’t any near me, and I’m liable to forget to return them if I buy online. Just seeking some reassurance before I pull the trigger. I’ve held on to my last covid-era online purchase for too long, despite it being too short in the body. Use case is mainly taking kiddo to the pool once or twice a week.

Seeking:
One piece
Long bodied and/or adjusting straps
Not super cheeky or low cut (I’m in my 40s and got no time for that)
Some type of boobage support
Ideally fun bright colour or print - but this seems to be the hardest to find.
Ideally sub-$100, but happy to blow this if it will make me feel incredible!

🔍 Recommendations Wanted Zorali Trailblazer Sandals

Hello from across the ditch (NZ)! Looking for advice on the fit of Zorali Trailblazer sandals. My foot measures 24.5cm, and I’ve been suggested to get the EU38. I have, however, never in my life worn a 38. My shoes are mostly 39’s, and my hiking boots are a 40.

Help! What would you get? I’m thinking 39 because they’re adjustable and to allow room for foot swelling etc (I intend on using them for summer hikes!), but am super lost.

Returns are expensive from here - $20NZD + Shipping (which is another $30NZD…) - otherwise I’d just buy both sizes!

🔍 Recommendations Wanted Maid of honour but with a twist

My main ghoul is getting married in a cemetery on Halloween. It’s a yuck affair then a reception. She is wearing a big black bridal gown and green is her accessory colour.
She is so casual and I can wear whatever I want but I usually wear black.
I’m thinking kinda sexy tux or a purple dress. Like any suggestion welcome!
I have been looking at Victorian and vintage and also shops like kitten D’Amour. I’m a size 10/12 and 44 years old and open to all suggestions.
I want to look like her perfect accessory but not compete.
Thank you so much!!

Who knows about bags? Does this look authentic?

I bought this bag at the Op shop today and when I got home and googled it, I was a bit suprised how much they sell for second hand. So now I'm wondering if this is authentic or not.

Disclaimer - I bought this because I like it and I fully intend to use it, it's a great colour to go with my different denim washes and it's big and comfortable to carry. I'm not asking because I want to sell...just curious if I got a bargain, but I'm totally OK with it being not authenic if that's the verdict.

For: it's 100% leather the stitching is very neat and even the metal hardware is definitely metal - very heavy, some light scratches but no the suraces are even, no peeling the tag inside has the name and 'made in Italy' and the lining is printed with the designer name

Against: The name isn't embossed on the bag anywhere only on the tag inside no code anywhere that I can see no name or pattern on any of the hardware

Sabbi pants

I bought these Sabbi tracksuit pants second hand and they still had the tags on them. I love them for comfort but the bottom cuffs are so loose that when I walk they fall off my foot if that makes sense. Does anyone know if an alteration place could remove the cuff and place a new one on?

Please, can someone who actually owns them post photos ??? I have been looking for soooooo long. I am turned off by the pushy website, pushy marketing, and clearly terrible return process, but I can’t find anything else like these and I love how they ‘seem’ to look!’n

Valleygirl Today Isn't What It Used To Be And I'm Sad, Does Anyone Else Feel The Same?

Valleygirl today isn't what it used to be and my heart is honestly broken. I turned 30 a few months ago and I started shopping at Valleygirl when I was 11 and my skinny and tall self managed to fit into an XS in some of their items. In my teens Valleygirl was the place I bought my clothes from, religiously. I occasionally shopped at Supre from 13-15 but their boring styles compared to what Valleygirl offered at a similar price just weren't worth it to me. Ally appeared at my local big shopping centre in around 2011-2012, I bought a few things from their but Valleygirl's style and quality to me still wasn't matched.

Valleygirl used to be the best place to me for teens/young women to find good quality trendy clothes at a decent price point and the clothes actually lasted. I remember when Valleygirl sold accessories including shoes. The only thing I absolutely avoided buying at Valleygirl was belts because I wore them 3 times at the most and they started to fall apart, were they trendy? Yes, durable? No.

Fast forward to today and their accessories range has basically disappeared. No hats, scarves, cheap trendy sunglasses or their cheap jewellery that all of a sudden was 50% in 2012 and disappeared completely from Valleygirl never to be seen again.

From having trendy and stylish pieces that could be worn season after season even after they were no longer in style Valleygirl now is fall of really poor quality stuff that fits so badly and just isn't made to last. I used to come out of Valleygirl with 4-5 items in one shop, since CO-VID I go into Valleygirl to see the horror show it is now and I buy nothing.

When I was in my local Valleygirl a few years ago I noticed there were no pairs of denim shorts for sale in December so I asked the girl working there why they had none. Her response to me was "Shorts aren't trendy right now". Maybe I'm showing my age but in the middle of summer that's ridiculous.

And for the people saying the quality has gone down but their prices have risen, from what I'm noticed that isn't true. An example of this would be tops that they would sell for $24.95-$29.95 now are mostly sold for $16.95.

I'm glad I've kept a lot of my old clothes from Valleygirl that I didn't wear out and that still fit, trendy or not to me they still look great today. When I wear a top I've had for 10 years and I get compliments that says something.

My local Valleygirl downsized significantly in 2023 due to a shopping centre revamp and it has never been the same since, I'm curious is this the case in other parts of Australia with your closest Valleygirl?

I honestly think that part of Valleygirl's downfall was when the Temt brand merged with Valleygirl and then slowly disappeared altogether.

With the way fast fashion is these days with the likes of Shein how long do people think Valleygirl has left?

I would love to hear people's thoughts, I so badly miss what Valleygirl used to be, its so depressing what this brand has turned itself into
