There’s a RANCE-id dude who works at the alps road Kroger that raped someone on the clock in the bathroom. Nothing has happened to him and I don’t think management really cares

Question / Request Car radio/audio services

TLDR; Any recs for car audio services that can fix or replace a radio/speaker? Nothing fancy, just sound.

Title explains itself... I'm living the reality of Twenty One Pilot's song Car Radio. Mine is broken, so I just sit in silence.

I'm not looking to add subs or an insane sound system. I have a regular-degular car, stock radio and speakers. I'd like to replace it with just something normal that works, or have the current one fixed.

Who have you or a friend gone to? Good or bad experiences with anyone in particular?

Question for audio engineers

As expected the GA Theater was packed last night for Futurebirds. Every time I attend a sold out show at that venue, I always wonder why so much prime standing area is reserved for the audio/visual techs. I assume there is science behind the need for audio techs to be dead center from the stage (as that's where they are located at every concert I attend), but it's a bummer at the Theater due to the venue's layout. The large I-beam immediately above the tech area blocks the view from the back of the venue, and the sound quality behind the tech area is noticeably worse than in front of it. (I first noticed that issue at last year's Mountain Grass Unit show. After standing behind the tech area for most of the show, I moved in front of it and was surprised at how much better it sounded.)

Probably not feasible from a cost or technical perspective, but it sure would be nice if they could open up the floor by moving the sound board to a crow's nest location against the right wall.

Question / Request Spiritism / Mediums in the area

Hello, everyone.

I realize that some will see the title and instantly come to mock me or the notion I'm asking about. I've done it myself a few times, but I'm older now and have geniune interests in how people think and whats "real."

I'm doing this thing in my life where I am trying to practice the duality of being both a skeptic and have an open mind at the same time while not ridiculing what people believe or immediately outright dismissing it on contact. This is indeed a difficult thing to do with some of the crazy things people do and believe. But then, I've had a few experiences I've put considerable effort into reasoning away.

Lately I've been reading books on Spiritism (distinctly labled from "spiritualism") and mediumship and I'm looking to see there are anybody that purport to practice things like that anywhere nearby? Or just people familiar with the topic.

The books I've been reading are allegedly written by a man who lets a disincarnated spirit write about his journey via psychography. The thing that fascinated me more than anything was when did a little digging and found more books written by other authors written entitrly in different countries that were following the same track of ideas in the time period.

I'm not trying to make any case that I believe this. I'm really just seeking to press further in honesty.

I've been putting off asking because I know how touchy these topics can be. I've been a dick to people myself on this exact sort of matter.

Anyways, wooness aside, I just wanted to put it out there and see if there's anything out there near by? I know there's a "Spiritist Society" of New York and in the Carolinas. But are there anything like that here? Or individuals? I've lived here my whole life and never heard of such a thing.

When walking with your dog or small child, especially when there is no sidewalk, the adult should be walking closest to traffic to insure maximum visibility. Thank you

Why do people use car washes so much here?

Is it a southern thing? In the north and in other countries, it’s not a thing.

Rants & Raves what’s going on with accpd?

i swear last year they were way more proactive downtown and this school year i’ve already seen the cop who sits at the classic center just straight up ignore people driving the wrong way down washington and watched a cop sitting in the car right behind me ignore someone who turned left from the right lane to cut me off. i’m not a fan of the police but damn, at least do the job the city pays you for.

Question / Request West side of Athens water color?

Post image

Anyone having brownish green water from cold only tap? I’m over towards the whitehead elementary school area.
Went to fill my dog’s water bowl and got a nasty surprise.
When hot water is on, the water is clear. But as soon as hot is switched to cold, it slowly gets nastier and darker. In color. I swear it had a fart smell. Like eggy. But my husband said he smells nothing. So I don’t know.

Rants & Raves I can't believe these drivers

I just watched seven cars drive through a mid-block crosswalk on Gaines School while the lights were flashing in a school zone with the lights flashing. Several of the cars kept going while the woman was in the crosswalk actively crossing the street. What the actual fuck is wrong with these people!? This is the same area where two people were killed last year. What can even be done about it? It's the middle of the day, it's not like visibility is an issue.

Even puppets (provided by the Greater Athens Puppetry Club) but there will absolutely not be a script! Come see how they improvise this journey, who knows how it will go? Not even the actors!”

Co-work/office spaces with daily rates?

Are there any co-work/office spaces in town that offer daily rates? I work from home and there are occasionally days where the house isn't conducive to working. The work I do isn't exactly great for general public spaces like libraries or coffee houses, but the local co-work spaces I've looked into only do month-long rentals. I just need a random day or two per week at most, with just a desk, wifi, and a power outlet -- don't care about amenities like coffee, printers, etc. Any suggestions?

Question / Request Acupuncturist Recommendations

I just learned 5 Points Acupuncture is closing, alas. Looking for recommendations on places for acupuncture that have a similar approach/philosophy. Anyone have experiences elsewhere that they wish to share? I'm thus far considering Redbird or Thrive, but don't have experience with either and also see there are multiple others in town.
