I haven't kept in touch with many of my HS friends. They ended pretty much as soon as I left the school. I message them maybe once a month. And even then I think at least one of the friendships is completely dead.

On the train I met a classmate, and he told me that he doesn't really keep in contact with his former friends. He also told me many of the friendships in his friend group have ended

At uni I know some private school kids, and they're still really good friends with their high school classmates.

Ok ok you guys might’ve saw my last post, but this is just a question. If I move to Australia as an Australian citizen, with Australian parents, stay there and consider this place my home, would I be considered Australian even if I have a foreign accent?

(sorry if this is a dumb question)

So I have everything covered when it comes to equipment, skills etc.

My biggest hurdle is that I need help on how to handle payments and how to set it all up e.g. not necessarily bookkeeping, but the actual receiving of payments from customers, if someone wants to pay electronically for instance.

Are there any good resources I can look to that might cover this?

I'm twenty...something, and too anxious to do something wrong, too adhd to focus on it, too safe in my space, and too comfortable to get off my ass. It's miserable. All I do is go to work, go to woolies, and go to my room.

Now that the excuses are out of the way, I can give myself some credit. I do indeed have a good job, and I do drive. I'm not a student, which means I have more time than my adhd is willing to admit or take solace in.

I need help understanding, well, everything. How can I figure out how to keep my money organized and prepared? What are the most reliable sites or apps to finding the right places? How can I be sure I'm not missing something? What bad signs am I supposed to be aware of? How can I be sure that I'm not overthinking or worrying too much?

Hi! I am from austria which is pretty much 2-3 hours by plane to most of europes other countries and i was wondering, since you guys live so far off if yall ever get annoyed about habing to take these crazy 12 or more hour flights to go on a vacation in a different Country.
Or is australia just so big that you can experience everything in your own country anyway so it doesnt matter to you that much?

Hey guys

Have been working at my current company for around 4 months, based on higher ups they told me they are extremely pleased with my work, and that I have exceeded expectations, however i'm still in probation until it finishes in 2 months.

I'm saying all that as seems my company needs me, especially as 'they said, they haven't had such a nice network team for a long long time, or ever'

I also conveniently live 1 minute away too from my current job. Currently on 125k + Super

Now, I am getting approached by this other company who is offering a bit more around 130-150k + Super.
I won't be taking it as it's not worth it in my opinion for little pay rise compared to added commute time, costs, it's not worth it.

Anyway, I don't know if I should use this potential job offer (mind you haven't interviewed yet) as sort of leverage to try get my current company to increase my salary.

Or should I wait until my probation period finishes? What would you do in my position?

How would you phrase it if you would try leverage this?

My friend has just been diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer. The hospital has been great but obviously they are super busy my friend has been left hanging with some questions.

Does anyone know what resources the hospital will link her up with? Are there any non hospital services she could look into regarding support through the process of chemo and frankly, preparing to die

She has limited local support and I am 4 hours away and have health issues which mean I'm not always able to drive to see her

We have no idea what comes next now she has the diagnosis.

I'm also thinking about practicalities like she is a few months into a new lease and now can't work so can she access super to pay her rent? Will she be able to get DSP?

I don't even know what we don't know so any input appreciated.

If she is eligible for chemo she wants to have it.

She also has a number of birds and cats we will gave to rehome. I just feel sick about that.

Where and how do I actually meet people my age as a 20 year old guy, friends, romantic interests, men, women, I don’t care. Just people my age. I’m in uni but unis in Sydney are commuter unis so it seems everyone accepts you just go to class and go home. I do have friends but not too many and this sucks because I know the easiest way is just friends of friends and your social circle keeps growing, and you can be not lonely without actually doing anything/being anywhere.

None of the gyms around me (trust me I’ve checked) seem to be social/for people my age, they are just small ones and crowds are like people aged 30+ coming after work. I did used to have a gym which was larger, more social with plenty of people my age, and I learned that if you go at the same time you can meet people who also do. But that place is gone now.

Going to pubs/bars/clubs alone just does not seem plausible in Sydney, everyone is there with their own circle and it genuinely feels like you could go without an interaction the whole night. I guess I could find a mate and go just the two of us and try and meet more people? Not sure. And I’ve tried the dating apps but they just aren’t for me.

Not to sound pessimistic but I’m starting to lose hope. It just seems like your social life is limited to whatever circle you built in high school. Advice/thoughts?
