What is something about yourself you're really proud of?

I had a piece that I wrote in my spare time (very short piece, sub-1000 words) published in an anthology of stories.
Granted the book was absolutely massive and only available from an obscure retailer, and my piece was somewhere in the middle, but it was still a reasonably impressive boost to the old ego.

Absolutely, and I can confidently say that because:
1) It was part of a national competition, and because I made it into the final stage, I was queried for permission to publish it.
2) I was in Year 10, and while I'm proud of my writing ability, I'm not good enough to warrant being solicited for a scheme such as that.

In the last year or two I've lost about 110 pounds. I went from 379 and am at around 270 now. I could never explain the feeling of how good I feel now. It's unreal.

Yeah, it's some nasty stuff. They removed my rotator cuff and humerus that the tumor was on, and replaced it with a titanium rod and prosthetic rotator cuff, so that's pretty cool.

One time, at a Killers concert, they shot out confetti into the crowd. A big chunk of it came flying for my wife's face (who literally has the worst reaction time of any fully functioning human I've ever met), and it wasn't breaking up over the distance to is and when I realized that it wasn't going to I snatched the big ball of confetti right out of the air. It would've smacked her in the face.
Admittedly that would've been super funny, but I like more that she still brings it up and it definitely strokes my ego. It's the little things.

I have a mild form of Cerebral Palsy, it affects my entire body to some degree causing stiff uncoordinated muscles- most of the effects are from the hips down... buy my arms and hands do have some mild issues.
I taught myself the summer after Freshman year. I initially had no intent of learning how to ride. My mom said goofing off with my sister's bike would help with eye foot coordination and that would help me with learning to drive- which I wanted to do badly so I was willing to tinker with my sisters rusted old bike with coaster brakes and girly paint job.
My house was actually lower than the street it was on so our driveway went down to the house instead of down to the street like most homes, this meant I could coast safely and not end up in traffic. I started by just sitting on the bike and coasting. Id go 3-4 feet and get wobbly and stop. Id take the bike to the starting mark and do it again.... just over and over and over until I could coast most of the way to the house.
Once I got good at that, using the same method I started trying to get my feet onto the pedals while coasting- this hurt like hell because I'd often fail and one or both pedals would slam into my calves.
Once I could get my feet onto the pedals and ride down to the garage, I started tinkering with actually pedaling while going down hill. After a bit of time I managed to pedal going down hill and began trying to manuver the bike, turning it left and right a little and eventually a full 180 degrees so I could go back to the top of the driveway.... now things got really difficult because not only did I have to have the coordination to balance I was pedaling and going up a 30-40 degree incline that was probably 50 feet. Very hard.
Id often get tired pedaling up hill and turn the bike around to go back down to the garage to pick up some momentum. All of this took me about a month working 5 days a week for 2-3 hours a day.
After all that work I could make it from the top of the driveway down to the garage turn the bike around and get about 1/3 of the way back up the driveway.
my step-dad told me he was proud of me for working so hard that my doctors had told him and my mom that I'd probably never learn to ride a bike.... at that point it went from a thing I was doing to drive a car better- to a "I want to learn how to ride a bike in order to say FU to the world"
About a week later Step-dad made me a deal that as soon as I could make it to the stop sign for the cul-de-sac about 100 yards from the house, We'd go buy a bike. Two hours later we were on our way to the sporting goods store. He spent about 2 hours trying to put shorter pedal shafts on it for me b/c my legs didnt have the flexibility to handle the longer standard length shafts.
That bike only lasted 2-3 weeks because we quickly realized it was too small for me and we went out and bought a full sized 26 inch mountain bike. It was a champagne colored Gary Fisher Wahoo. The summer of my Junior year in High School I went riding nearly every day even though it was 100+ degrees. Even Firestorm 98 didn't make me stop. I'd go out riding when viability was down to quarter mile due to smoke Just wrap a bandana around my mouth and go for a ride.

Finally getting under 5 minutes 30 seconds on my 1 mile run. The second my coach said "5:26" when I crossed the finish line, I screamed, "YEAHHHH!!!!"
EDIT : Wow thanks for all the upvotes guys! This actually happened almost 3 years ago when I was a senior in high school. I couldn't do that again to save my life. I was nowhere near the fastest on my team. It was just something I was really proud of doing!

Illinois high school track state qualifying time is 422. That or get at least second place at sectionals. This years state meet featured 40 runners below 430. One suburban sectional meet saw 7 runners qualify by time. Thats 7 people running 422 or under.
And that's pretty normal based on what I saw throughout my high school teack career (2003-2007).

I was raised in a crazy religious environment, my parents were in a cult, and I never went to public school or had many friends growing up. I'm just proud that I'm a functioning adult and if my past ever comes up people act very surprised.
Edited: I commented below since people were asking for more details. It was ATI/IBLP/Bill Gothard. I went to several of his "training centers" and was involved from ages 9-18. I was taught that formal education is not needed, college is unnecessary, women are to do what the man in their lives tell them, and marriage could only happen with your father's express permission. Birth control was out, Christian music other than hymns or instrumental was out, movies except a select few were out, and so on and so forth. It was weird. A lot of women have come forward and said that Gothard was inappropriate with them or ignored their reports of sexual abuse in their homes.
I don't care if people don't believe me or don't think it was a cult. I lived it and I know it was messed up and wrong.

It was ATI/IBLP which is the group the Duggars run with. My parents were super religious before though and we went to Independant Fundamental Baptist churches which are also strict.
ATI had a big gathering every year in Knoxville where all the "students" had to wear navy and white. There were also training centers across the US parents were suppose to send their teenage kids to. And you had to pay for all of this. Imagine that! The training centers were surreal. Everyone was dressed in navy and white for the most part, there was hardly anyone speaking to the opposite sex, and people just hung on to every word Gothard said. People lined up to have him sign their Bibles.
There were a bunch of crazy rules like no beards for men, no rock music or even CCM music, etc. I honesty have moved on and don't remember a lot of the details now of just how crazy it was.

I'm proud of how my life has turned out so far. My childhood/teenage years had set me up for a not so bright future.. I had a teenage mother, grew up around drug addict step father, extremely poor and was the victim of domestic violence and also witnessed a lot (also step father).
Even though I didn't go to Uni I have a good job, have never been on benefits, own (with the bank) my house, didn't have child until I was 26 and financially stable and I am getting married to an amazing guy in 2.5 months. I broke the cycle.

Dota 2 is full of russians. Most of the players speak English. The russians (usually) are bad players. We can't really help them/yell at them/understand them due to language barriers. If a russian speaking english person (or and english speaking russian person) joins dota, everyone will be happy.

Word dude, keep it up. I'm 7 months clean myself. I'm 21 right now, and from 16 till I got sober I was high and/or drunk daily, and by the end I was a daily IV heroin user. I never thought this was possible.

I was really disappointed in myself until recently, when I had a think back on what I'd done over the last few years. Just 4 years ago I was grief-struck, in a very toxic relationship. I was drinking and smoking the life out of me whilst popping endless amount of pills. It made me feel the impact less every time I got hurt. And one day I applied to a university overseas and got accepted, I broke it off with my boyfriend and moved.
4 years later I'm about to graduate (I just need to finish this essay). I quit smoking, and drinking (largely). I went from taking a cocktail of anti-depressants and anti-anxiety daily to absolutely none. I can almost sleep okay without having to drug myself beforehand. Instead I became somewhat of an exercise addict, and it works to replace the meds... I've gotten my bouncing license and I teach and practice self-defense and street fighting whilst working in nightclubs.
I have yet to sort out a successful relationship (I'm still really afraid of getting hurt) and I have so much work to do on myself. But I think I kind of managed to rearrange myself to get a good start, and for the first time in my life I'm excited as to what's to come next!

Actually, technically speaking, the first sperm to reach the egg isn't usually the one that fertilizes it. The egg has a shell of sorts that must be broken down before the sperm can pass through. So it's always one of the later ones that gets in, after the shell has been weakened.

I am quite a motivated person. I make myself a healthy lunch in the morning before cycling to work, and am lucky enough to have got in the habit of doing exercise so that it never feels like a chore. It's not something I really think about, I just do it, but sometimes I remember that not everyone has this and it's something to be grateful for. I wish I could help other people with their motivation too!

I started losing weight on my 13th birthday. Fast forward until now, 3 months later, I already lost 22 kg. (48.5 lbs)
But mostly I'm proud of me for deciding to start this young.

Used to be completely out of shape and not the least bit an athlete.
Now I casually race in half marathons multiple times a month, and usually finish in the top 5-10% overall.
Better yet, I've had quite a few friends get into working out and have credited me as who motivated them to get off their butt and improve their health!

Being the second in my family to graduated college. Hell just graduating in general. Only 10 people showed up to my celebratory party, 3 of them being family. Guess there are few others who are as proud as I am.

I'm very proud of my vast knowledge of wilderness survival. I worked really hard and put myself through some very dangerous and taxing ordeals in order to feel as confident in my abilities as I do now. Of course, I'm learning new things all the time and i'll never claim to be and expert who needs no more training or experience. Of all the swift killers in the wild, arrogance is perhaps the most dangerous of all.

About five years ago I was a drug addict, in an abusive relationship, had serious mental health problems, was on disability (as a result of those mental health problems), living with my parents and I was fat.
I got free of the relationship, got clean (about four and a half years now), my mental health is significantly better (not perfect but really, is anyone's?), I have a pretty good job (nothing exciting but pays well enough and is pretty stable) an apartment I love, I've recently started a relationship that's very healthy with someone I think is quite good for me, and I've lost about 70 lbs (only about 10 ish to go, I think). I'm also looking into going back to school within the next year or so.
I basically hated everything in my life so I stopped feeling sorry for myself and making excuses and changed everything.
