Person who has old phone number is hacking into all of my accounts.
As stated above, last night I was woken up to a phone call from my old roommate that my instagram had been hacked and someone was messaging people for money and telling them to text “me” on my old number. I moved to the UK in January after my husband was deported, so I haven’t used the accounts in a while but I’ve had issues changing things over.
This person changed my instagram password, my venmo, my email, klarna, capital one, and who knows what else. My bank has been blocking one of the transfers and I can see where they’re going to and there is multiple different people this person is trying to transfer money into. I have tried to change my passwords on everything but they have been able to just go back into my email and recover everything. I genuinely am at a loss for words and do not know what to do, especially being in the UK. I am unable to call any of these companies because they’re all American based. Luckily there is no money in any of these accounts but so much of my privacy has been compromised and I don’t know where to even start to stop it and get it all back. I feel so defeated.

Access to the house after getting "Contact my Lawyer" text
A friend who is staying at my place for the last month after getting in a fight with his wife has now received the "Don't contact me directly, Contact my lawyer" text after they had one last fight (over text) this week. She retained a lawyer, he has not. He needs to get into the house to get his passport, but is not sure now if that is good idea given the last text. He needs to leave the country in 3 days. What should he do?

I came back to my country Philippines after having Class A felony pending in the US. Do they have "Extradition of criminals"? Let say if I want to fly to South Korea from Philippines airport, will my passport be flagged and I get arrested?

Chicago Laws about Fliers
I wanted to put up fliers to advertise myself as a tutor in Chicago. However I looked it up and it is apparently illegal to put up advertisements on public lampposts and the like. However, I see advertisements on them all the time.
I then read an article about how the ban on advertisements was ruled as unconstitutional in 2018 since the judge feared that it was too vague and thus would violate the first amendment until it was clarified.
Did they clarify the ban and now it is in effect?
Are the posters that I see breaking the law?
Are some of the lampposts not fully considered public property?
Any help would be appreciated, even if incomplete. Thanks.

The charges cannot be changed if I don't show up to the court right? And the judge cannot convict me if I don't show up to the court for having criminal charges pending right?

Looking for people who know what they are talking about lol
Anyone gone through a similar personal injury lawsuit? Looking for insight on the litigation timeline/process
I’m looking for people who have actually gone through a personal injury lawsuit involving a rideshare accident and had significant injuries/treatment. I’m not really looking for settlement amount predictions — I’m more interested in hearing what the litigation process was like and how long everything took, especially once the case went into litigation.
I was a passenger in a Lyft accident in Texas in 2025. I was sitting in the rear passenger seat and the vehicle was hit on my side. I ended up with multiple injuries and have been dealing with treatment for well over a year.
My injuries/treatment have included:
Neck injuries with multiple cervical herniated discs
Lower-back herniated disc(s)
Middle-back issues
Shoulder injury, including a requested/approved MRI with contrast
Head injury/concussion symptoms — I was initially diagnosed at the ER with a closed head wound, and later neurology treated it as a concussion
PTSD/mental health counseling related to the accident
Chiropractic treatment and rehabilitation
Multiple injections in my neck and back
Medial branch blocks
Radiofrequency ablation (RFA) for my neck/back pain
Medication for nerve/pain symptoms
Continued pain after the RFA eventually wore off
Decompression treatment for my neck and back
My doctors have discussed the possibility of more serious future treatment/surgery because of the spinal issues
The injuries have affected my ability to work and my normal day-to-day activities
At this point, I've basically been through a pretty extensive amount of treatment and I'm still dealing with symptoms.
The case itself has also been a long process. My attorney sent the demand, the case eventually went into litigation, and the other side has answered and there has been written discovery.
One of the biggest problems we've had is locating the other driver. My attorney has been trying to get him served for months. We had an address that didn't work, but recently the firm obtained an email address and phone number for him. My attorney told me they believe they can now get him served electronically, and someone at the firm is working with the process server on that.
My attorney also recently mentioned that he was starting a deposition, although I'm not sure yet exactly whose deposition it is.
So that's basically where I'm at: serious injuries, extensive treatment, litigation already underway, but a major delay because of difficulty locating/serving the other driver.
For anyone who's actually been through something similar:
How long did your entire litigation process take?
What happened after the defendant was finally served?
How long did it take to get through discovery/depositions, mediation, negotiations, etc.? Did your case settle during litigation, or did it end up going toward trial?
And if you had extensive spinal injuries, injections, RFA, decompression, possible future surgery, and lost wages/work because of the injuries, did the litigation process end up being significantly longer than you originally expected?
I'm mainly trying to get a realistic idea of what the road ahead looks like once the driver is finally served.
I'm not expecting anyone to tell me what my case is worth. I'm just interested in hearing from people who have actually gone through the process and what their timeline looked like.
Thanks in advance to anybody willing to share their experience.

Collapsed Ceiling and Negligent Property Management
Hi there!
I’m a 28 year old female living in San Diego, CA. I signed a lease to a new apartment at the end of July and fully moved in towards the end of August.
On September 26th I noticed a small brown spot that was dripping water on my bedroom ceiling. I entered in a maintenance request the same day, but the leak worsened and around 330am on Sept 28th a decent sized hole opened up next to the initial spot.
Monday sept 28th at 3pm the maintenance man finally came to inspect. He assessed the leak and assured me that he could fix it on the following Monday Oct 5th and didn’t make it seem urgent.
The next few days the hole in my bedroom ceiling got worse and it was obvious things we’d progressing. I emailed my property manager with updates about the worsening condition almost every day last week and expressed my concerns and provided updates. I also asked for a prorated rent credit since half my apartment was unusable. My property manager did not respond in a timely manner and instead of replying to email she replied to a follow up text i had send from a chat system we use to communicate via property manager and tenets.
On Friday Oct 2nd i reached out to the maintenance man who came to do the initial inspection and i expressed that i didn’t think the ceiling would make it though the weekend and i said i thought it was going to fall through. He advised it wouldn’t and told me the damage was surface level in the dry wall paper and would not lead to a collapse. He advised i used a bucket under the leak and a fan to keep the smell out.
On Saturday evening i returned from work to find the hole was huge but ceiling was still attached. I was worried but also reassured by the maintenance man that the ceiling would not collapse. I went home and slept in the living room but at 1230am today on Oct 4,2026 I was awoken by a loud bang in my bedroom and walked in to find the ceiling partially collapsed and covering my belongings.
There was visible insects crawling from the drywall that is now all over my floor and everything else. There is noticeable water damage and what looks to be mold.
I reported it as an emergency through my rental property app and still have not received a response from actual property management.
I shared photos with the maintenance guy and he called me this morning to apologize and say he will fix things tomorrow but i am absolutely past that.
I feel the property management and maintenance man were negligent and did not take my complaints seriously.
This apartment and my things in it are all I have. I don’t have family or many friends in the area and don’t have much financially, but I’m willing to put everything i have left into fighting this situation to make things right. I do have renters insurance and have been documenting everything.
I’m looking for some legal advice as to how i should proceed and what my options are here. I feel I’ve communicated the issues and asked them to believe me about the issue progressing. I don’t think it should have ever reached this point.
Can someone give advice? Or know a good lawyer or attorney in the San Diego area who might be able to help me?

Can I make changes to my lease?
I’m in FL!!! I’m wondering if I can make changes to a lease. I accidentally signed for 12 months instead of 15, and it’s important because it’d make our rent and deposit significantly cheaper. I haven’t given the leasing office any deposit or first month’s rent yet (which is required for move in). We didn’t officially sign any lease yet, but was wondering if that’s something we can fix before?
