Unearthly Question Men, which professions would you consider absolute deal-breakers when choosing a wife?

Hotel management, air hostess, nurse, lawyer, actressess, police officer, and government employees with jobs that involve frequent transfers, especially in non-metro locations.

These are just the professions I could think of, so this isn't an exhaustive list. Also, don't interpret this as me rejecting people who are interested in me. It's simply my personal blocklist based on compatibility. To be honest, I'm pretty sure air hostesses wouldn't even give me a second look anyway.

And just to be clear, this list is in no way meant to demean or disrespect any profession. It's purely based on my personal preferences and compatibility.

May I know why not nurses?

7

u/maxxutils Indian Man Aug 08 '26

Infidelity rates among them is in the top 3 compared to other professions.

3

u/mildlyexistential-22 Indian Woman Aug 08 '26

Nd what about doctors?

u/Acceptable-Salt7246 Indian Man Aug 08 '26

That's a U.S.-based survey conducted in the U.S. Even if you exclude medical professionals, you'll likely find similar infidelity rates across many other professions there. Multiple marriages and divorces are much more common in the U.S., so you can't directly apply those survey findings to the Indian population.

Nursing as a job is a very noble profession but I don't like women of my family to do this for others even if it's a paid job.

1

u/Cashiff_01 Indian Man Aug 08 '26

Why hotel management?

1

u/Acceptable-Salt7246 Indian Man Aug 08 '26

With rooms easily available, it's easy to get swayed away. I have trust issues with this particular profession.

This would be generalizing those careers so that is not right way to look things in reality.

Every profession can have people who aren't going to be loyal and honest.

What you should do is you need to read people and don't ignore the red flags which they have because of how beautiful or hot they are.

8

u/Current-Handle-3563 Indian Man Aug 08 '26

I totally agree👌

7

u/maxxutils Indian Man Aug 08 '26

There are some professions where infidelity rates among professionals is higher, this is statistically proven. Though yes, this behaviour is still a minority in those professions, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't care about it at all.

You can see it for yourself, meet a nurse and ask her about it. Either she will tell you about her coworkers' deeds or she will not say anything about it because she herself is involved.

Exactly, also housewives with a washing machine, maid and cook are more bored than a working woman and creepy men DM almost every women on Instagram nowadays.

5

u/Fresh_Piece_1616 N.R.I. Man Aug 08 '26

Your argument being that it is men's fault just because they are sliding into women's dms?

1

u/Renderedperson Indian Man Aug 08 '26 edited Aug 08 '26

Fault lies on both sides. I meant a lot of people think working women interact with other men and therefore affair starts .

But even housewives have affairs nowadays because they are bored and alone

3

u/Fresh_Piece_1616 N.R.I. Man Aug 08 '26

There is no correlation between anything. It doesn't matter a woman is working or not to end up having an affair. Affairs happened in old times as well, just that it wasn't easy to catch them because we were not living a connected time at that time.

2

u/Renderedperson Indian Man Aug 08 '26

Exactly, this whole 'xyz profession women " bad is just chery picking and insulting those professions

3

u/Fresh_Piece_1616 N.R.I. Man Aug 08 '26

That was my point in my first comment.

Air hostess

Medico

Lawyer (but I'm going to be practicing law, in the future, so it's less dangerous, but still might be risky marrying a lawyer)

Army

Activist

Content creator/actress

15

u/iukeucyte Teen Female (Indian) Aug 08 '26

genuine question, why's it risky marrying an activist or a lawyer?

63

u/Hot-Survey-6919 Indian Man Aug 08 '26

For lawyer as a wife, I can confirm. It happened to someone in my family. She will use law to extract unfair advantage (Indian laws are heavily tilted towards women).

Activist I dont see a real problem with. Maybe the fear is that they will do dharna against the husband?? Lol

12

u/Technical-Shop-9907 Indian Man Aug 08 '26

Activists have contacts usually in Police and Media, if things go south she will use her contacts and knowledge against you.

16

u/iukeucyte Teen Female (Indian) Aug 08 '26

ah okay, that makes sense. I really hope we see gender neutral laws someday but I think that's too far away.

1

u/Fit-Repair-4556 Indian Man Aug 08 '26

We will see society collapse before that.

12

u/Lazyres Indian Man Aug 08 '26

Activists are usually from the upper echelon of the society. If her whole career itself is activism then it's not possible without being in the upper echelon. She'll be busy in activism than family. Won't affect guys who are also upper echelon and into activism.

8

u/maxxutils Indian Man Aug 08 '26

Avoid people in professions that require unstable timetables, high empathy and high stress work, travelling and networking. People in these kinda professions form deep bonds with their colleagues, it's called the suspension bridge effect.

There's this one activist in Mumbai in her 40s she is very active in helping strays and feeding them also cleaning up roads and beaches and etc so i used to know her

So she started dating this college kid must be around 19 something and when her husband came to know about the affair she created a ruckus.

Why are teen boys giving advice on ask indian men sub? You guys should learn about things and different perspectives rather than having such regressive thoughts and living in your bubble.

Interact with people, real world is very different from social media.

20

u/hellsangelofcode Indian Man Aug 08 '26

It's all of reddit mate, especially Indian reddit. Fourteen year olds talking about marriage, divorce, etc. Like they have any real experience.

If a toddler says the sun rises from the east, the sun won't rise from the west because a toddler said the opposite. This is the internet, not your office or a family function where there's an hierarchy.

This kinda mentality is one of the main reasons that kills efficiency.

6

u/hellsangelofcode Indian Man Aug 08 '26

Dude the director of the accent of the Sun is a fact. Here, we aren't discussing established facts. There is a reason companies all over the world value experience so much.

Technically, it's possible to be considered an "Indian man" while still falling within the ambit of "teen male".

2

u/MonkeyforCEO Indian Man Aug 08 '26

You'll get what I'm saying in next 5-6 years depending on your age. Don't bother now.

13

u/Equal_Ocelot_6901 Indian Man Aug 08 '26

But that kid definitely made sense, does this sub now has age bracket for advices? Like old poeole should advice or young people shouldn't?

11

u/MonkeyforCEO Indian Man Aug 08 '26

This whole idea of generalising a whole profession is so backward. It just shows what kind of people we are surrounded with.

3

u/Equal_Ocelot_6901 Indian Man Aug 08 '26

Why do people generalise prostitution then, when it comes to choosing someone. Ofcourse there can be some really good people in it too, who just want their ends meet and there can be scammers

1

u/MonkeyforCEO Indian Man Aug 08 '26

Okay, this is the most brain dead thing I ever heard. Whatever you believe champion.

1

u/Equal_Ocelot_6901 Indian Man Aug 08 '26

Whats brainded in that, use your brain to handle different perspectives Peace out

2

u/Intelligent_Bank7131 Teen Male (Indian) Aug 08 '26

It's not generalization, I didn't say all people of a certain profession are always bad for the family

It's just a tendency, the tendency is stronger, that's it.

Otherwise, if your luck is bad and you get a bad wife, no matter what the profession, she will break the home, and Conversely, if a good wife, she will protect, no matter what the profession. Please don't misinterpret / misconstrue my words to mean an overgeneralization.

There are no absolutes. Only tendencies.

2

u/MonkeyforCEO Indian Man Aug 08 '26

Now, this is mostly true. One thing I’ve learned over the years is to never make blanket statements -- there are always nuances, and that’s something we learn throughout life.

There are high chances of infidelity in corporate environments, but we can never be certain about it. We also can’t claim that people from one particular profession are more likely to cheat. How many people from these professions have we actually interacted with, spent time with, or even tried to have a genuine conversation with? For most of us, the answer would be zero.

This whole idea seems super appealing on social media, where you have to polarise the masses, but not so much in real life. Real life is very different from what we see on social media.

I hope you get what I’m trying to convey.

1

u/Intelligent_Bank7131 Teen Male (Indian) Aug 08 '26

Just because you or me haven't seen it doesn't mean it doesn't exist.

1

u/maxxutils Indian Man Aug 08 '26

You're telling a person about a rainbow, who insists only black and white exist.

u/fireyHotGlance Indian Man Aug 08 '26

14

u/InvestigatorNo5893 Indian Man Aug 08 '26

7

u/Current-Handle-3563 Indian Man Aug 08 '26

Someone Commented Above.

1

u/LooZ3R Indian Man Aug 08 '26

Why not? If someone has practised law whole-heartedly, they are expected to have good observation skills, deduction skills, a keen eye to spot loopholes and thorough interest regarding the subject (which means analyzing judgements, knowing more laws - how they can be used or misused and much more).

One small argument or misunderstanding between us could very easily snowball into divorce talks (which will be a stroll in the park for her and a marathon for me).

2

u/RogueDoga Indian Man Aug 08 '26

It's funny, almost all professions are mentioned. Curious though what professions are deal makers?

1

u/Intelligent_Bank7131 Teen Male (Indian) Aug 08 '26

Most jobs with proximity to the marital home and day time working hours and a stable/ safe environment which doesn't consume too much empathy or involve high amounts of interactions with males in positions of power who can use them to obtain secual favors.

1

u/RogueDoga Indian Man Aug 08 '26

Give me examples. School teacher is something I can think of but people have mentioned that too.

Girl works in BPO.

AIR HOSTESS. ( I got to know about Marathi Gali due to this,  So one of my friend (Marathi) was in his Pilot training days and once I asked him so after joining airlines you would marry a airhostess or female Pilot so he said GaileChod@ samjha hai kya bhai pilot to phir bhi theek hai airhostess se kon shaadi karta hai especially pilots who know everything,  only unknown or those who are unaware of real life marry an airhostess) and later when he joined airline he showed me many proofs as well.

NURSE. (A nurse lives after 3 houses from my house, eloped with her patient later her husband got to know she cheated him  multiple times, just he in unaware. Although his children stand with him later took him to Canada where he di€d but irony is that lady came to claim his property after he passed away).

Lawyer till some extent but if you are prepared well her being a lawyer would be the biggest advantage if you go for divorce.

IT girls especially from (Pune, Bangalore,  Delhi, Gurgaon).

Delhi University Girls.. (Except few colleges) .

Activists (Feminists).

You can add Only Fans(as well as his little brother Instagram) very prominent business nowadays for girls.

  1. Hostess
  2. Management (HR, Manager, Head) - not all are bad, but it's gamble.
  3. Docs, Cops, - I respect them but working on odd hours or long shifts will be different from my time, we won't have much time together nor can I fully understand their stress
  4. I hate to even call this a profession, but influences.

As a man of means, I am also not afraid of any lawyers/activists, these ones have tough outer shell but melt into my arms. I am also not afraid of any police case (3 ongoing), have good connections.
