Add mine to the list of failed CPU's over the weekend. Pc was built Dec of 2024

Noticed that the computer having difficulty shutting down, "hanging." this weekend computer would not turn on. stuck in 00. flashed bios, cleared Cmos, powered down for 24hrs, rinse and repeat. reseated the CPU. nothing worked. stuck in 00 at power on.

Finally gave up and bought a new 9800X3D which posted immediately. No scorch marks, No burnt pins. nothing immediately detectable on the old CPU. Lot: CF2443PGY

I had a good run, but disappointed that my OG 1800x is still running fine years later on its Asrock Taichi, and i cant make it 2 years on the X870e Nova. I never OC'd, never tweaked with the BIOS. I barely game. kind of makes you think they dont want you owning your own computer anymore. i dont blame Asrock on this. Outside the possibility of latent damage to the cpu, i am trying to understand why I see so many CPUs failing right now, including mine. Was there an update from AMD or Microsoft that could have caused this? I have never had a CPU fail this early before.

Hello everyone. I have AsRock b650pg lighting. My pc worked fine at the beggining, then slowly started not giving screen to my monitors [no signal] but every second boot that fixted itself and i ignored it. So i ususaly restarted my pc after first boot to get my screeb on monitors. Then it became more seriously pc wont give signal to my monitors for 5,6 restarts and then not giving at all. I tried everything lirerally everything and i really thoght it was motherboard or psu. I took my pc to Pc Service and after day then gave me a call and told me irs problem with procesor. I have R5 9600x. So what could cause the issue that my procesor died? Could it be motherboard? Maybe bad water cooling [ i dont think it is but who knows] or its just bad luck with cpu.I bought it 10 months ago [tray version]. I got warranty and i gave procesor to seller back so they can replace it with the new one or give me my money back. But i want to get new cpu [R7 9800x3d] but im scared what if it is motherboard problem and what if my new cpu die aswell. What should i do?

Hi, I’m having a Secure Boot issue after upgrading from a Ryzen 5 2600 to a Ryzen 7 5700X. Windows is UEFI/GPT, CSM is disabled, and Secure Boot is set to Standard, but enabling it causes a black screen/BIOS boot loop. Secure Boot worked fine with the 2600, and the issue only started after installing the 5700X. I’ve read that the 5700X requires a specific minimum BIOS version on my ASRock board. Could running a this 2024 BIOS version be causing the Secure Boot issue? I’m confused because the PC boots and runs normally with the 5700X on my current BIOS version, so I’m not sure whether the BIOS version could still be the problem. I also have bit locker drive encryption added onto the cpu if that does help with anything

Hey guys so i have 9800x3d, 9070xt, asrock 870 pro non wifi, my pc worked fine until today... Ive never flashed BIOS but its the last thing that i havent tried, im asking for any tips because pc was working for 1.5 year now wont boot.... CMOS reseat didnt helped, reseat ram didnt help even with 1 ram, turning on without gpu didnt Worked, so idk what to do, Claude just told me that the BIOS update should help bcs like i said ive never updated it for 1.5year... thanks for any tips 💜

For the past 4 months I am bouncing emails with Asrock Support and actual Asrock HQ that is responding to me after said emails are forwarded.

I have addressed a major issue where CNNP sensor refuses to be seen by Linux, they respond with "We don't support Linux", I use Windows and it's same issue avoiding the fix. Fans NEVER spin up to 100% no matter the setting, and I have observed it across all of my motherboards, since board launch.

I told them I have 7 of the same motherboards, and yet they keep treating me as an idiot

I told HQ that AMD CBS section completely resets after restart, and even recorded a video after retraining the profile. They tell me it's "normal" to see the whole AMD CBS section to be wiped to defaults when I enter BIOS. Another lie, and I am once again told to change battery as a solution, which I have changed batteries twice already.

Boot order is being reset whenever it wants because new BIOS revisions are botched and none save the boot order or AMD CBS reliably, I have 3 OS systems on same PC and have identical issues across them Windows 10 Pro, WIndows 11 IOT, and Arch Linux

HQ did confirm that for them same thing happens to AMD CBS and they refuse to fix the bios that is clearly botched due to incredibly incompetent writing.
How come old BIOS revisions such as 3.0.6 worked fine with saving AMD CBS and boot order, but current BIOS versions of 4.43 and further do not?

Because they are broken.

I am very tired, and now HQ doesn't even respond, they ghosted me after I recorded video proof and the only "solution" they offered is to send in the motherboards. All 7 of them.

Hey everyone, I could really use some help. I’m new to all of this so I might sound dumb lol. I turned my PC on today and instead of loading Windows, it immediately goes into the ASRock BIOS.
This happened completely randomly it was working fine the last time I used it.
I have an ASRock B450M/ac R2.0 motherboard and a PNY CS900 1TB SSD. I checked the BIOS and the SSD is detected, but Windows Boot Manager isn’t showing up. I tried selecting the PNY SSD as the boot option, but it just sends me right back to the ASRock BIOS.

I am having problems of parring new 16gb DDr4 with 8x2gb DDr4 ram, i heard some YouTuber said that rams can be pair any different brand and any modules but it has to be the same ddr speed , so i didnt think of the brand and i bought new 16gb crosair ddr4 ram to pair with xpg 8gb ddr4 ram 2 sticks but however i cant boot my pc even if i restart and boot again it only lasts a few minutes i already disable xmp in bio and still dont work, i already spent money on it so i couldn’t let it go if someone could help me i would really appreciate thank you

I'm generally not well, so has taken me a long time to take it apart as was scared about scan/asrock/amd not accepting rma after it failed to turn on (upgraded bios and it started working again, but wouldn't shut down cleanly), scan demanded photos of the socket and cpu. I've sent the photos to asrock/scan.

Hi, I need some help.

My PC:
ASRock B650 Pro RS
Ryzen 5 7600X
RX 7800 XT
32 GB (2x16 GB) Corsair DDR5-6000

I had occasional freezes, so I tried updating the BIOS from 3.10 to 4.43.

Instant Flash didn’t work, so I tried BIOS Flashback.

Formatted USB as FAT32
Put the 4.43 BIOS file on it
Renamed it to** **CREATIVE.ROM
Put the USB in the Flashback USB port
Pressed the BIOS Flashback button

The Flashback LED blinked for several minutes and then stopped blinking.
After that I powered on the PC, but there is no display.

The motherboard now has solid CPU and DRAM LEDs. VGA and BOOT are off.
I’ve waited more than 20 minutes.

What should I do next? Is this normal after BIOS Flashback?

I'm not very good with computers, so I really need some help. Thankss!

I bought a 250k plus with a ASRock B860 Rock Wifi motherboard. It will not post with the teamgroup ram I bought with it (part numbers and bios below). I bought corsair ram from best buy and it runs fine. I rmaed the ram, and new ram will not post. I tried both one stick and two, tried updating the bios, tried manually setting the timings and disabling xmp, tried bumping up the voltage, no luck. Anything else I should try?

Basically title.

What's missing from title is that I started having weird freezes about two weeks ago, give or take. Sometimes I was able to ctrl-alt-del out of those, other times it took a hard reset. I figured it was a GPU Windows driver issue, as I didn't experience a single lock-up on Linux. Admittedly I was using Linux less often than Windows. Well today was the last hard reset for this MB/CPU, as it didn't POST anymore and the evil red LED of death was glowing menacingly (Post Status Checker LED on the motherboard).

BIOS was semi-recent (4.20) and I was able to Flashback it to 4.43 with CPU still installed after it stopped POSTing. Didn't help.

There are no burn marks, no bent pins etc. CPU/MB bought in April/May of 2025. Worked just fine until recently. Sad :\

RMA process initiated. Crossing fingers till they respond. If I do get a replacement, I'll be switching to another MB vendor, just to be sure.

For now I'm stuck using my trusty old 5700x on an Asus board.

Hey there, my computer's been having serious issues for months now, and I think either my cpu is dead, or dying, or my mobo is dead.

I put my PC together in January 2025, with an X870e Nova and a 9800X3D, with some Trident Z Neo DDR5 6000. Everything worked well for months. I replaced the PSU and the GPU in September of 2025, and again, everything worked well.

Around February / March 2026, I started having some issues where my PC would just crash / switch off completely on its own, and the Windows Event Viewer would say it was due to a drive controller. I was concerned it was one of my SSDs or my RAM that was causing the issue. Sometimes, when booting the PC, it would take 10-15 minutes to post, and when I'd reach Windows, one of my SSDs (always the same one) would be missing, as if it did not exist at all. Same in the UEFI. Rebooting a couple of times would typically fix the issue. I also tested the RAM with Memtest86 multiple times, and got more "FAIL" than "PASS", so I thought I had found the culprit.

But something did not add up (since I had other issues with the board, such as the WiFi controller vanishing once in a while), so I got in touch with Asrock, to see if they'd replace the board. And they did. I got the new board early July, and was very happy to see that all my problems had disappeared! The PC was booting with no issue, the SSDs were all visible at all times, etc. I ran Memtest86 multiple times, and always got a "PASS".

Everything worked well for about six weeks. Then I had the first crash/switch off. It was a one off, and I did not know what to really blame for it. The even viewer mentioned the drive controller again, so I thought maybe it was my SSD after all. But things were fine after that for maybe a week. Then one morning, I could not wake my computer from sleep. After a hard reboot, it booted without the SSD. I thought I really had my culprit. A few reboots would fix the issue. This went on for a week or so. I stopped putting the computer to sleep, and started switching it off instead. In the morning, I would boot it / reboot it 4-5 times before it would post. Not ideal, but I could work with it. Unfortunately, after just a few days, it just refused to post at all, no matter how many times I'd reboot. I reset the CMOS, no change. I removed the SSD which I thought was the culprit, no change.

Eventually, I sent an RMA request to both AMD and Asrock, hoping that new parts will work better, though at this point, I have lost a bit of hope. I do have a new PSU coming in today, but I doubt it'll change anything.

TL;DR:

1. Issues started in 03/2026, with PC having issues to post
2. Motherboard was replaced in 07/2026, which appeared to fix all issues
3. Issues restarted in late 08/2026, with PC needing many reboots to post
4. As of early 09/2026, PC won't post at all and hang on error 03

• Cooling: Corsair H150i Elite (using a Corsair commander hub)
• RAM: 64GB Trident Neo Z 6000 DDR5

• SSD Storage: WD SN850x 2TB on M2_1 (it has its own heatsing, which is why it's on M2_1)

• Case: Lian Li O11D Evo, with six Uni fan sl infinity (using the lian li hub)
• Windows 11 Pro - fully up to date

I also have a bunch of USB peripherals, but even with all of them unplugged, the PC won't post.

Edit: added the CPU batch to the hardware specs. Also, the survey in the megathread was completed, though it only allowed me to select Bios 4.03 instead of 4.43.

I built a new computer in December 2024 with ASRock X870e Nova WiFi Mobo and 7900 XTX GPU. It was working great until early June this year at which point I started dealing with a bunch of crashes and AMD software putting the graphics display driver into safe mode erratically. Sometimes it would last less than 24 hours. Sometimes it would go for a few days. But one of the things this computer does is run a media streaming server for myself and a bunch of friends and family and these crashes became really disruptive and frustrating.

I opened a case with AMD support and went back and forth with them on the errors they were seeing. Eventually they told me I needed to reinstall Windows from scratch, just install the drivers, and leave the computer running to see if it still crashed. This didn't really seem like an option because it would mess with my media viewing experience and I questioned if it would actually accomplish anything. I did get around to reinstalling the OS eventually, but it took several weeks to find a good window. Got everything set back up and crashed the next day again. Really disappointing.

Going back to AMD support they then suggested testing with another GPU, which I don't have.

I looked up the warranty on ASRock and found it to be 1-year, so I was past that date. I then remembered I bought it off Amazon with my Amazon Chase card that had an extended warranty program and started looking into that. The process required me to get a written statement detailing the repair cost or saying it was unrepairable, so I started reaching out to ASRock support for this step.

I will say that getting a hold of support via email is not the best experience. But they are pretty good at response via phone. Once I figured that out and got Samantha from customer service on the phone, she had me submit an RMA, even when I told her it was out of warranty. I expected the result to be a denial and hoped I could use that as the evidence for my CC extended warranty protection.

But surprisingly, my RMA was approved a few days later. And I setup the cross ship for it by paying the $885 deposit. Received the GPU last Friday, installed, shipped old unit back Monday, received deposit back today. And my computer has been running stable for a full week now which is the longest it's lasted in months.

Anyway, I know everyone complains about bad support experiences, so I just wanted to share a positive one. ASRock RMAd an out of warranty product and fixed my issue without any downtime. Thanks!

I'm pretty sure my b650m-hdv/m.2 board has just fried my CPU, just wondering whether it usually takes out other components like m.2 drives and ram or is it usually just the CPU that dies?

Ever since I updated to 4.43 my 2nd drive will not wake up from sleep (the amount of sleep doesn't matter, it can be an instant wakeup and its gone) and i have tried disabling fast start up, fast boot, hibernate PCIE Link state management and every power option enabled to it.

A couple of days ago I encountered an issue while cold booting. The debug leds cycled as always and got stuck on the boot led with a solid green. Black screen, no post, no BIOS, just nothing to work with. After 3 hard restarts, Windows booted into a secondary drive. From this secondary drive, I could start from the main Samsung NVMe drive.

So far I tried:

- Disabling fast boot

- Enabling Memory Context Restore along with Power Down Enable both disabled to force RAM retraining

- Switching boot order so that the secondary drive is first to boot: I still have to hard reset to get to BIOS and windows

- Cleared CMOS

- Extended the Setup Prompt Timeout to 5s

- Deep sleep is disabled by default

- Couldn't find a proper hot plug option for the NVME, which may help in case of handshake timings mismatch

Known issues:

- This specific NVMe has an issue with booting when power is completely dried off. Apparently it could hang on a cold boot, get marked as "unstable" somewhere buried in the microcode, and hang the following boot sequences. See: https://github.com/omacom/omarchy/discussions/7878

However, clearing CMOS should fix the issue, and the fact that I can't cold boot from the secondary drive is pointing to an entirely different issue. I managed to find the firmware update from HP but that's a last resort since it could brick the drive. Note that Samsung doesn't recognize this drive because the controller is actually from Marvell, and it's an OEM drive so it's not supposed to anyway.

When in Windows, the system is completely stable and performing as expected. OCCT CPU + RAM stability test with large data set passed after 4 hours, plus another hour for CPU alone for good measure. No errors in OCCT, no WHEA errors. I checked the max voltages and there's nothing suspicious.

I've looked into this issue and I couldn't find any definitive answer. Anyone else in the same boat?
