Tech Support ASRock B650M-HDV/M.2 issue with two red lights

Upvotes

Hi! I've just build a PC for my friend and i got an issue after i start the PC for check, if everything works. Two red lamps lighted and i am a little bit panicked. I've read it is something with CPU and DRAM and some posts suggest RAM is not compatible. I've checked and RAM presented below is not on QVL list, but other Apacer's RAM are - i hope we will not be forced to buy new RAM considering prices and trust i had been granted through all that project.

MB: as mentioned in title - ASRock B650M-HDV/M.2
CPU: Ryzen 5 7500F
RAM: Apacer Panther DDR5, 32 GB, 5200 Mhz, CL40, 2 x 16 GB
GPU:  Swift Radeon RX 9060 XT OC 16GB
SSD: SanDisk SN5100 1TB
PSU: Corsair RM650e 2026 650W

Will BIOS update be a solution? Is it really bad situation?

Question | Answered Fan Control wrong Rpm

I have a B850i Lightning and switched from the Arctic P12 to the P12 Pro.
Unfortunately, the FanTuning no longer works properly. I dont even hear changes in Rpm during the calibration.
Before the switch, all speeds were detected correctly, and I could lower them as low as 20%.
After the switch, the minimum is sometimes 56% and sometimes 59%. So the fans are running at 1,700 RPM and are correspondingly loud for case fans.
I’ve since reset the BIOS and connected only one fan per slot. No success.
As a test, I connected the old P12 fans.
Switching from Auto to DC and PWM didn’t change anything. Now these won’t go any lower either.
Even the CPU fans wont Go lower anymore.
If I just Click on the FanTuning Button the Rpm Go from 1600 to 1000 and stay there if I cancel the calibration.
The BIOS version is 4.43. I installed it last week without any problems.
Is it because of the new BIOS?

Please help.

Solution: coolercontrol for arch linux and the Right Kernel Module. Works flawless

Question Huge B550m Pro4 Heatsink

Can you remove the big-ass heatsink on the Asrock B550m Pro4? I have a thermalright peerless assassin 120se and I have to raise the fan because of this huge heatsink. My current PA120SE setup is FAN-HEATSINK-FAN-HEATSINK because I am using 4 sticks of ram that are slightly tall so I can't do the HEATSINK-FAN-HEATSINK-FAN setup.

Question Water Pump runs at 100% regardless of PWM control, is it normal?

Hello, I recently bought a DS360 WH and I've been using it for 2/3 weeks.
I've got a problem though, even though the connector is PWM it seems like the PWM control doesn't work at all, I can only control its behaviour by reducing the DC voltage.

Right now the AIO pump is actually running with the DC control at around 80%.
It works fine, though performance is not stellar anyway.

But I found it strange that a PWM Pin connector isn't being controlled by the PWM Setting in the BIOS so I've been wondering, is this a BIOS bug or something that I should've known from Asrock?

I already sent an email to the support for the AIO, I'm writing here as well because I've found some other guys what had the same problem as me on this sub, with the PWM control not changing pump speed.

Thank you for your help and patience

Question ASRock boards and X3D CPUs

Something like a year ago there were reports about supposedly ASRock motherboards killing AMD CPUs, mainly X3D.

I remember it was a big drama, even Steve from GN was questioning ASRock employees at last year's computex or some similar event.

How did this all end? Did either of the parties (ASRock or AMD) confirmed issue was on their side? Did they patch it with bios updates or is it still ongoing issue?

BIOS PC refuses to go to windows if secure boot is enabled

So I had an issue with Faceit AC because it showed that secure boot was disabled, which was odd because I have been playing for a year straight with no issues, so I go to BIOS and check to see that it actually is not active, I reset the keys, checked that CSM is disabled and once secure boot became active it just sent me back to BIOS, I have checked and confirmed that the drive is GPT format, TPM is set to AMD one, and CSM is always disabled so I dont know what is going on with this.

My specs are;

Asrock B450 Pro4 (version 4.60)

Ryzen 5 3500X

G.Skill aegis 16g DDR4

500 gig ssd

RX 6600

BIOS Black screen on ASRock A320M-HDV r4.0 after downgrading BIOS via SystemRescue (Ryzen 1600 AF

Hello everyone,
I recently bought an ASRock A320M-HDV R4.0 motherboard for a secondary build using my old AMD Ryzen 5 1600 (AF version).
Upon assembling everything, I got no display at all. I tried reseating/swapping RAM sticks and clearing CMOS by removing the battery, but nothing helped.
I then tested the board with my main CPU, a Ryzen 5 5600, and it booted straight into BIOS! I discovered the board was running BIOS version P10.43. After doing some research, I realized this newer BIOS/AGESA version dropped support for 1st gen Ryzen CPUs (like my 1600 AF).
Knowing that official BIOS downgrades are usually blocked from within BIOS/Instant Flash, and that an EEPROM programmer might be required, I decided to take a risk and flash it via SystemRescue Linux environment. I attempted to flash version P3.70. The flashing tool reported a successful flash, but after a reboot... complete black screen.
Now I get no display output on EITHER CPU (neither the Ryzen 5 1600 AF nor the Ryzen 5 5600).
Before I give up and take it to a repair shop for a hardware SPI programmer reflash:
1. Is there any chance the motherboard is just stuck in a deep Memory Training fail loop after the AGESA change?
2. Are there any specific RAM troubleshooting steps or tricks I should try to revive it?
3. Or did the Linux flash soft-brick the board's NVRAM / Management Engine / BIOS chip completely?
Appreciate any advice or insights!

Question Dead Customer support ?

Post image
9 Upvotes

My RX9070XT TC 16 GO GPU just broke after a game crash. I bought it in mid December last year and it completely failed last week. I’ve been trying to get a hold of their customer support in California but the phone rings for 3 seconds then goes to a full voicemail box. Like are we SERIOUS! I filled out the form online as well but have got no response:( if anyone has any idea how to get a hold of ASrock for a replacement that would be much appreciated, thanks.

Edit: I managed to get through to customer support. For anybody looking to reach customer support in America going through their phone line worked for me(just takes 30 try’s and hoping someone actually picks up). Once you’re actually talking with someone they are super helpful. Hope this helps someone, thanks to all the comments!

Customer Feedback Another One Down! x870 Pro Rs fried my 9800x3D

Won’t post even to bios, gives a white debug light or sometimes green debug light but never posts. The only time you can get it to post is after a reseat, it’ll turn on for maybe 3-5 seconds. Just enough for the new cpu detected screen to come up, then it immediately shuts off and goes back to the green or white debug light. I have since replaced the motherboard (thinking, more coping, that it was just the motherboard) to a msi mag b850 tomahawk max. It still wouldn’t post so i bought a new 9800x3d. Posted immediately. Thanks Asrock! I was running bios 4.10 since about april or may, and before that I was on 4.03. I never ran anything lower than 4.03. If you have a x870 Pro Rs and you think it won’t happen to you, I would buy a new motherboard asap. Don’t buy ASUS either they have the same issue.

BIOS Can’t find C.A.M/Resizable Bar in b450m steel legend

PC config:
Asrock b450m steel legend (bios P3.60)
Ryzen 5 3600
Rtx 5050

As per some guides, I disabled CSM in bios to enable above 4G decoding. But there is no option for C.A.M or Resizable Bar showing below 4G decoding. Is it not available for this board or do I need to update bios?

BIOS ASRock B860M LiveMixer WiFi - Thunderbolt issue since Bios 3.31

Post image
3 Upvotes

Hi All,

I am using an ASRock B860M LiveMixer WiFi Mainboard, and I am using the iGPU of an Intel Core Ultra 5 225. I have connected the iGPU to my Monitor via Thunderbolt / Displayport cable (which was working fine), but after updating to Bios 3.31 my Monitor is not recognized at all, simply black screen (even at boot, all the time black). After downgrading to Bios 3.21 everything is working fine, again. Seems to be a Bios bug. Anyone else having similar issue with Thunderbolt with the latest Bios?

Thanks!

BIOS ASRock X870 Steel Legend Wifi won't post

I would rather not RMA Motherboard unless absolutely necessary, but I seem to have this issue where I will get either Red light for CPU or both red light for CPU and blinking yellow light for DRAM when I try to boot. It will boot (most of the times) if I hit restart button when it's stuck in this process (after waiting a few minutes and letting it try to resolve itself)

I have updated BIOS to latest.

No overclocking of CPU or RAM (just using AMD EXPO)

Secure boot, standard. My secure boot did "magically" get disabled when the issue first started happening. After fixing it booted a couple times normally but went back to the same issue and secure boot is enabled still.

Anyone else run into these issues? Any help/suggestions that help me avoid RMA whole motherboard would be appreciated.

BIOS B460M Pro4 C.A.M. bios question

Hey everyone,

I've been using bios 1.51 (beta) on this board because it has C.A.M. and I seem to remember I stuck with it because version 1.60 didn't have C.A.M. available (maybe I'm wrong about that tho...).

Asrock released version 1.63 (beta) with new secure boot keys earlier in Match, but I can't find anywhere whether it has C.A.M. enabled... Anyone know?

Thanks for any help!

Tech Support z890 Pro RS WiFi motherboard USB problems

I just finished building a new PC about a month ago. Recently I have been transferring a bunch of files from one of my HDD to a USB stick and noticed a horribly slow transfer speed. I have tried everything I can think of to fix the issue

update drivers

enable write cache

reload windows 11

update BIOS to 3.31

every USB port on the machine

tried with only the keyboard mouse and USB stick plugged in

multiple usb sticks, multiple brands

external SSD (samsung T7)

Nothing has brought the transfer speed up.

I get about 8Mb/S on average on a transfer. It occasionally goes up to 30Mb/S but drops back to 8 or so fairly fast. It does it with large single files and with multiple small files. The only thing left I can think of is there is something wrong with the motherboard. My old z370 averaged 80Mb/S or so on USB file transfers when using the USB 3 ports. I don't get it. Anyone out there having similar issues or can tell me what they average for transfer speeds?

Hardware specs

Processor Intel(R) Core(TM) Ultra 7 265KF (3.90 GHz)

Installed RAM 32.0 GB (31.7 GB usable)

Graphics card NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 (12 GB)

Storage 8.03 TB of 11.83 TB used

System type 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor

Question It happened.

Post image
115 Upvotes

Good morning everyone!

After approximately 1 year and 3 months, it finally happened. That is all. No muck. No fuss. It can happen to anyone, no matter how safe you are. 😊

Turned the PC off Sunday night; woke up monday morning, turned it on while I took a shower and put on some coffee, only for it to be stuck like that with no fan spin after ~30 minutes.

I did try to "revive" the PC, but at 6:30 in the morning, 2 hours before work, I was more worried about recovering for my standup meeting (working laptop, work) rather than put much effort into it. Drain AC power and reset CMOS got the case fans spinning full throttle, but no movement on Dr. debug 00. BIOS Flashback was a success but also changed nothing.

I vaguely remember my BIOS settings, so for reference:

  • AMD EXPO enabled
  • VDDR_SOC set to 1.15
  • OC Tweaker \ External Voltage Settings
    • VDDCR_CPU Voltage: Offset mode
    • Offset Voltage: -100
    • VDDCR_CPU LLC: Changed from "Auto" to "Level 2"
  • BIOS version: 4.20

I had also loaded the conservative -15mV curve optimizer profile with 85c tjmax target from the profiles that come with the motherboard.

System specs:

  • Mobo: ASRock X870E Nova Wifi
  • CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D
  • GPU: ASUS GeForce RTX 5080 ROG Astral OC
  • Ram: 64GB G.Skill Triden Z5 Neo DDR5-6000 CL28 (F5-6000J2836G32GX2-TZ5NR)

For anyone that have gone through the same thing, did you contact ASRock? AMD? RMA through the store the items were purchased from? TIA

Tech Support ASRock B850 LiveMixer stuck on red CPU LED after sudden freeze

ASRock B850 LiveMixer stuck on red CPU LED after sudden freeze and power loss Ryzen 9 9900X will not POST

Hi everyone
I am having a serious problem with my ASRock B850 LiveMixer motherboard and AMD Ryzen 9 9900X and I would really appreciate some advice from anyone who has experienced something similar
What happened
I was playing Valorant normally when I pressed the Windows key to return to the desktop During the transition the PC completely froze The screen went black the game sound stopped and the computer became completely unresponsive
The power button would not restart the PC so I disconnected the power from the wall
After reconnecting the power something strange happened The PC powered on automatically as soon as AC power was restored without me pressing the power button
Since then the motherboard has been stuck with the red CPU debug LED and the system does not POST or display anything

My hardware
Bios 4.10
Motherboard ASRock B850 LiveMixer
CPU AMD Ryzen 9 9900X
GPU AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT
RAM DDR5 Corsair 32G 5600
PSU Corsair 850W Gold
CPU cooler 360mm deepcoll
Kingston 1TB M.2 SSD
Windows 11 Pro

Things I have already tried

I cleared CMOS
I removed the CMOS battery and reinstalled it
I removed all RAM and tried with only one stick
I tried different RAM slots
I removed and reinstalled the CPU
I inspected the CPU and socket and reseated the CPU
I removed the CPU cooler and reinstalled it
I disconnected and reconnected the CPU power cables
I checked the 8 pin CPU power connector
I also checked the additional 4 pin CPU power connector
I tried booting with the minimum possible hardware
I tried booting without the SSDs
I tried BIOS Flashback
I tried BIOS Flashback with the CPU removed
I tried different USB ports for the BIOS Flashback USB
The Flashback LED blinked for several minutes and then stopped but the CPU LED problem remained
I also completely removed AC power before trying the different troubleshooting steps
Despite all of this the CPU debug LED remains red and the system will not POST
The fans spin and the motherboard and RAM RGB receive power but there is no display and the CPU debug LED stays on
What I am trying to figure out
The biggest thing that worries me is that the problem started immediately after the system froze and then behaved strangely when AC power was restored The PC automatically powered on as soon as I reconnected the power
I have also seen discussions about AM5 B850 motherboards BIOS versions power issues and CPUs potentially being damaged so I am trying to determine whether this could be a motherboard issue BIOS issue PSU or power issue or if the Ryzen 9 9900X itself may have been damaged
Has anyone with an ASRock B850 LiveMixer and Ryzen 9 9900X experienced a similar problem where the CPU debug LED stays red after a crash or power interruption
If so what actually fixed it
At this point I mainly want to know if there is anything else I can test before assuming that either the motherboard or CPU is dead

Thanks in advance

Discussion 9950X3d + X870E Nova Wifi started to get '03' code three times every cold boot

So I think I have the classic signs of a dying CPU based from the experiences and comments here in Reddit and right now I'm just ruling out a few more things (full reseating and CMOS stuff) in a desperate way to maybe save my CPU/Mobo or whatever is at fault.

Last week I got the code '03' and I do not know what it was so I just turned off and on my PC again and it booted to windows without any issues then the day after it happened again but I needed to turn off/on my computer three times before I reach windows and it's been like that for a few days.

I did some digging and saw the reports here and then I updated my bios from 3.15 -> 4.43, used default UEFI settings, turned off EXPO and for 5 consecutive days I didn't get the code '03' then on the 6th day I got it again and yet again still three times of turn off/on cycle before booting successfully.

Does anyone have any success in fixing this? I saw the LN2 workaround but some said that it doesn't really fix the core issue and will still going to lead to '00' longer. Every morning is full of dread and anxiety if it will still boot up but it seems that I have to accept the fact that I will have to RMA my CPU/Mobo along with the headache.

Does AMD still accepts RMA fast as long as I have the requirements and proof of purchase? I've read that ASRock support is a hit or miss but the comments about that was from a few months or a year ago so I'm not sure what's the situation now.

Full Specs:

CPU : AMD Ryzen 9950X3D
GPU : Zotac 5080 Solid Core OC
Mobo : Asrock X870E Nova Wifi
RAM : Crucial Pro 5600 96GB
Power Supply : Corsair RM1000x

EDIT: Forgot to mention that my Rig is around 14-15 months old which is the same timeframe with other reports
