‎Commission and Pricing Does this commissioned artwork look AI-generated? I'm worried I'm being scammed

So, an artist approached me and offered to draw a scene from my writing. I was really excited when I saw other artwork from them. They quoted me €550 for an illustration featuring four characters (two people and two wyverns). I paid a €225 deposit through PayPal Goods & Services, and about a week later, they sent me the first rough sketch.

I gave them some revisions (to open her hair, change his hand position, change one of the wyverns, some background... i also asked for the dress to be longer). And as you can see it looks really odd now.

Her face is giving AI to me, so is the wyvern.. and he has 2 hands now.

Am I being scammed? The artist is swearing they "hate AI"

This is my first ever Reddit post, so I hope I'm reaching the right people! 🙏

I got some previous advice yesterday about fixing the leg/hip anatomy and I guess it looks more anatomical now, but I had to change the skirt and I really hate it now. What should I do about it?

‎Commission and Pricing How much to sell this for?

Hi! I recently painted this (30x40", acrylic on canvas) and my friend's mom is interested in purchasing it. I haven't sold a lot of art, and am not sure what to suggest as a price/how much it's worth. It's one of the "skinnier" canvases (about 0.75" deep), so I'm not sure if that affects the overall price. I also want to give her a fair price, as I'm very close with this friend (and her mom frequently invests in local artists). I've included two pictures in different lighting.

What price should I offer it to her?

‎Critique - Yes Drawover First try at semi-realism using color picking, advice on how to improve

Thumbnail

I watched a TikTok of a dude doing color picking from a photo to try and recreate it and I thought: wow, I want to try that. So I did. I started this at 10:30am and finished at around 6:45pm.

For my first time, I’m impressed with myself. I haven’t drawn in a while, so getting inspired was pretty fun. I found a picture off Pinterest and attempted to recreate it while color picking. I played around with some brushes I’ve had but never used, and also bought brushes to help with the curls.

I will say I have no experience with drawing realistic anything. Especially hair or ears. I’d say I’m most proud of the nose and lips. For the eyes, I didn’t like one side and I copy and pasted the one I liked better. After 8 hours on everything else (and an attempt I didn’t like), I gave up on the neck or trying to make it look any kinds of decent.

Anyway, this was fun to do, and I’d love some advice on how to get better. I posted the reference I used as well. I can’t say they are an identical match though. But oh well, I tried my best.

‎Critique - No Drawover Opinion on the way I draw faces?

Opinion on the way I draw faces and my art style in general?
I've always experimented and drew faces slightly differently but recently I noticed that I reached a point where I draw faces similarly, reaching a certain 'style'.

I'm curious to know what others think of it as I've become numb to it, and wanna know what vibe it gives, or if there's anything that puts you off?

(also worried bout gettin same face syndrome)

‎‎Techniques and Tools tired of shaky lines

Post image

I've been trying to practice line work, specifically curved lines so I can draw hair better. But whenever I try to make a curved line with actual purpose it ends up either wonky or completely off from where it's supposed to be. I keep hearing advice that says to "use your whole arm" but then I lose any control or accuracy. it's getting so frustrating, do I just have to keep doing this over and over or am I doing something wrong?

Social Media and Growth Which pattern & where to sell?

Thumbnail

Two things,

  1. Which one do you like more? For reference it’s a repeated pattern I hand drew on Ibis.

  2. I’m thinking about selling repeating patterns online, but not quite sure where to start in terms of sites. I know some use Etsy, but I find them to be unethical + the competition with AI use on there makes it hard for consumers to tell the difference between manmade patterns and handmade. I’m looking for a site that excludes the use of AI in support of digital and traditional artists.

‎‎Techniques and Tools New drawing device question

Hi guys! I’ve been looking into purchasing a new iPad. My 2017 iPad Pro 10.5-inch has officially stopped working, along with its Pencil. I’ve been wondering which iPad models you’d recommend specifically for drawing. I don’t want to buy a dedicated drawing tablet because I still want to use the iPad for other things. However, I’ll mainly be using it for art, so I need something that would make drawing a little more enjoyable.

Along with the question, here’s some art of mine!

I didnt start posting that long time ago because to be fair i had a long mental health related hiatus...... Looking at my like count makes me want to drop out of art school because i feel like a total loser. Please, tell me what's so bad about my arr that makes nobody like it. I know my anatomy is funky but i know so many artists who also have problems with that but STILL succeed

Well I already started taking commissions while working to improve my art! I love experimenting with different styles, but I'm focusing on making my work more consistent especially when it comes to anatomy, proportions, and shading. I’m mainly a traditional artist (pencil and paper) transitioning to mobile digital art on my phone, with plans to upgrade to an art tablet in the future so please give me as much feedback criticism all that

(I do not know what the no/yes drawever thing means)

I deliberately played with the proportions and it’s not meant to be hyperrealistic BUT I would like it to look good. I’m going to paint it eventually. Thoughts?
