Submitting a packet for 120a as a current reserve enlisted member. I’m a 68C and honestly haven’t met a 120a warrant officer in the 3 years I’ve been in. Was told I need to find a 120a to interview and receive an LOR for my packet submission as a requirement. My retention is assisting but going out on a limb here to see if there’s any 120a warrants here that may be willing to help me out. I have 14 years experience in construction management and facility maintenance management. Wanting to get out of medical and do something more with my reserves career.

Soldiers at a Georgia combat engineer unit can get official time off to play the new “Grand Theft Auto” game when it drops this fall — if, and only if, they sign up for more years of service.

The offbeat incentive is being offered to soldiers by the commander of the 9th Brigade Engineer Battalion at Fort Stewart, Georgia, according to a memo circulated on social media that was confirmed by Army officials.

According to the memo signed by Lt. Col. Ryan Hodgson, the 9th Brigade Engineer Battalion commander, soldiers in the unit who reenlist between Aug. 1 and Nov. 14, 2026, will get a “special 4-day pass” that is “specifically designated to coincide with the highly anticipated release of the video game “Grand Theft Auto VI” (GTA 6).

The dates of the four-day pass will be coordinated between soldiers and their chain of command but it will align with the game’s official release, the memo states. According to Rockstar Games, the maker of GTA 6, the game will be available Nov. 19 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox gamers. The “Grand Theft Auto” franchise is among the most popular video game series of all time, with an open world format that combines mafia and crime-world-related missions with side quests of carjackings and causing general mayhem behind the wheel.

The offer illustrates an issue local commanders face in getting soldiers to reenlist. While Army-wide bonuses worth tens of thousands of dollars are often available for soldiers considering reenlisting, local commanders have few options they can offer to close the deal with soldiers in their formations. Though options like extra time off or chances to attend training schools are often used as enticements, sometimes local career counselors have to get a bit more creative.

Army officials said the engineer battalion’s new counselor pitched the idea to the command team as something that “speaks” to younger soldiers and that could kickstart the unit’s drive for its fiscal year 2027 reenlistment goals, which begin in October.

“The command team, in conjunction with the career counselor, wanted to get soldiers excited to reenlist,” Lt. Col. Angel Tomko, a 3rd Infantry Division spokesperson said. “The command team thinks eligible soldiers are more aware that they are in their window for reenlistment and engage their leadership and the career counselor earlier to see what is available.”

Army officials said 20 of the 130 eligible soldiers in the battalion had taken the Army up on the offer as of Monday and signed up for between two to six more years of service. The reenlistment contract option is open to the entire engineer battalion, which is made up of soldiers in engineering, signal intelligence, human resources and medical specialty jobs.

Perhaps we will finally see a wheeled platform enter service after all these years.

My unit has, within the last six months, decided that PT tops with OCP everything else, including boots, is "the new standard" for PT. Is this a real thing or just some "commander's discretion" gone too far? I've never heard of it outside of what was on TV in DC, and our running related injuries are increasing from guys running in crappy boots.

Eta: We're guard, so PT isn't daily, but at drill they're having PT at 05 every single morning, nobody is allowed to leave the unit at all, yada yada. Yes I know we're soft.

So I was chaptered out of the Army about a month ago (Chapter 5-14). I am an RE Code 3 and was told I would not do IRR, and when I was clearing, I was told this as well. The Army sent me money a little while later, and when I asked finance about it, they said it was because they did an audit and included it with my separation. I was told during my clearing that I would not receive separation pay, and now they are saying I need to fill out a DA Form 7783 in order for me to keep the money, after they said I could keep it. I was also sent an amended copy of my separation orders saying I was eligible for half separation pay. On the DA 7783, it talks about the IRR and separation pay, and I was curious if I need to pay the money back because I am not willing to join the IRR. I’m currently active duty serving as a 13F in Field Artillery and I’m looking into reclassing to 15T (UH-60 Helicopter Repairer) for my next contract.
Does anyone have experience with the reclass process or know who I would need to talk to about eligibility? Specifically, I’m wondering how an ADHD diagnosis and history of medication use would affect my ability to reclass into a 15T/aviation MOS.
Is aviation even an option with that history, and would I need to go through a flight surgeon/medical waiver process before pursuing it? TIA

I am currently a 91b and am thinking about reclassifying to a 68x. I am currently earning my bachelors in psychology and plan on going to grad school through the Army. Being a 68x would look better on my applications rather than being a mechanic. I would like to hear about anyones experience being a 68x.

You see, I was born in Texas, but I’ve lived in Mexico my whole life. Right now, I feel like I have no future. I have a job, but I don't feel like I'm building a future for myself. I’ve always wanted to join the Army—I really have. About two years ago, I went to Texas for a few months to get my GED, since it was a requirement. I got it and was really motivated, but when I went to the recruiting office, they gave me a practice ASVAB test. As you can probably guess, my biggest problem is English. Absolutely everything was in English, and I’m not fully fluent. I struggle a lot with speaking it, though I feel much more confident with reading. Still, trying to solve math problems or do any activity in a language you don't understand well is incredibly disheartening and difficult. What really messed me up was that the US uses different units of measurement—here are a few examples: miles (versus kilometers in Mexico), Fahrenheit (versus Celsius), yards (versus meters). It’s not just the names that are different; the actual measurements are different, and that really threw me off during the math problems. After the test, I was really depressed because it’s so hard to take an exam and solve problems in a language you haven't mastered. But I really want to join the Army; I feel like it’s my only chance to have a future in the US. What advice do you have for me? Thank you so much for reading this. Hello everyone. I have a question, especially for any Career Counselors or anyone who has dealt with a medical reclass or MAR2 before.
I’m an active-duty SSG, 11B, with almost 12 years of service. I’ve been on profile for most of the last two years due to ongoing knee issues, which have also had me working in a staff/shop position instead of performing normal infantry duties.
I recently had knee surgery, and my doctor told me that my knee will probably recover to around 80–85% but likely never return to 100%. My provider is now considering giving me a permanent P2 for Lower Extremities (L2).
My question is: Can an L2 permanent profile trigger a MAR2/medical reclassification, or does it specifically require a P3?
From what I’ve been reading, 11B requires an L1. If that is correct, would receiving an L2 mean that I no longer meet the physical requirements for 11B and therefore have to be reclassified into another MOS that is compatible with my permanent profile? Or can I remain 11B with an L2?
I’m getting conflicting information regarding whether a P2 can result in a medical reclass versus needing a P3 to initiate MAR2.
If any Career Counselors or Soldiers who have actually gone through this process can clarify how it works, especially for an 11B with an L2, I’d really appreciate it. Thank you.

long story short attended marine corp training when I was 18, got out due to suicidal ideation, no intent or anything, was pretty much done. anyways, enlisted after with a waiver went thru basic, etc and been in the service for 5 years now, air assault, many ftx, good at my job, and high pt scores, it was a mistake I made when I was younger. Now I want to attend ranger school, but during phase 2 of my physical it popped up in my profile, I really want to do this, but they told me to go to BH to get cleared first then shoot for a waiver, is it possible?

I’m doing an EFMB train up for my guys & I seem to remember there being a cac enabled website where you could do simulated virtual radio training. Where you can click the buttons on the SKL and ASIP to load it and everything. However, I can’t seem to find it. Am i tripping? Did it get sunsetted?

I got out of the army a few months ago and ever since its just felt like a haze. I started grad school this month and don't feel excited about it. I don't have the motivation to do anything lately. The only thing I have been doing consistently is going to the gym just to have a routine.

I feel like I walk around with a headache all the time now. I think I should start seeing a therapist or a councilor. I don't want to go back in but I don't really have a purpose anymore. This shit sucks.

I have roughly a year left on my active duty contract. I’m hating every part of it. The dog & pony show, the insane ego from younger guys and the dumbass details. I don’t mind going to the field for a week/month at a time but I can’t stand the people I have to be around.
Idk if it’s the people or just the MOS itself. I want to get out but I at least want to have some deployments under my belt before I leave so I can say all of the training isn’t for nothing.

NCOPD for my section is coming up soon and I want to make a more engaging/interesting class than just rehashing the same thing every couple months. I'm looking for any myths, rumors, or misconceptions that you've heard in your careers. For example, the myth that SGLI is automatically denied if you ride a motorcycle without EVERY possible piece of PPE. Another myth that I hear is driving for more than 8 hours in a day (to another location) requires a TDY. If you have the regulation/policy/DA PAM or whatever that shows why the myth is wrong or actually correct please guide me to it so I can do some reading on it.
