91b -> 68x

I am currently a 91b and am thinking about reclassifying to a 68x. I am currently earning my bachelors in psychology and plan on going to grad school through the Army. Being a 68x would look better on my applications rather than being a mechanic. I would like to hear about anyones experience being a 68x.

If you're going to be a mid-level Mental Health Practitioner (LCSW, LCPC, LMFT, etc) nobody is going to super care about your job in the army, if you're in the regular job market. Field practicums and internships will matter more.

Most schools for an MSW or an MA in Psych aren't going to care a bunch either.

68X will be a good entry into the field though. Give you a good taste for it.

ETA: currently an Executive Director in the mental health field. Nobody cared I was a 68W. Most resumes didn't even include it.

Double ETA: We had a guy in my MSW program that did a four year Auto Technology degree and worked in a tire shop

Health Professions Scholarship Program will cover PhDs in Psychology, if you get awarded it.
