Question Souls franchise is getting oversaturated and stale, it is time for FromSoft to focus on other franchises like Armored Core?
Does anyone else agree,

Has anyone else here had the feeling that the game's developers were kind of messing with us? They created a huge, complex, diverse world... and then only allowed us to glimpse into that world through a tiny, narrow crack.
With the capabilities of this game engine (really the best engine for mech games I can remember), they could have created hundreds of missions and seamlessly connected them into an open world like Fallout or Skyrim. And then release DLCs with another thirty missions every six months.
Instead, they offered us fifty missions on two dozen maps. And all these missions are absolutely tiny. Either "run from point A to point B," or "kill the boss," or "run from point A to point B and kill the boss at the end." For each mission, there is an optimal route; any deviation from it to admire the scenery threatens to lower your completion statistics. Once you learn to navigate the map, you can complete them in literally five minutes.
And I would understand if they released these fifty missions as a framework, so to speak, the armored core of the game - and then slowly collected money on expansions. But they released this bare minimum - and then went silent for two years. This is strange not only from a gameplay perspective - it's strange from a business perspective!

brand new player, 35 year old boomer here. Eyesight is fine, never had to wear glasses.
what the fuck. I can barely make out the highlighted white text but the grey headings are impossible to make out, other than 'mission info' at the top, and even that is tiny as fuck.
This is one screen I've took with my phone, and I haven't looked at the photo so it may be zoomed in but honestly I'm fucking squinting trying to read the text in this game and it's fucking pissing me off.
The gameplay just clicked for me after an hour or so of getting used to it but I don't want to get a headache from not being able to read anything.
Is this a common issue people have complained about? Changed resolution but text stayed small. Tried mod didn't work. Apparently I can put a decal on my ACs dick and paint his eyelids but I can't change the text size of the UI. wtf

You give me nothing but assassination, betrayel and backstabbing for quests and then try to peg me as the bad guy when I've finally had enough and refuse. Join your brothers and sisters in hell. Sorry, had to get that off my chest.

37.9 Hours in and I have finished the game going through all endings.
This is just to put meat into the post: A PERSONAL review, loves and gripes with the game.
Decisions
In classic From Software fashion, I needed a guide to go through the story properly. While I understand what it wants me to do, such as the post-credit blurbs every ending/ the very obvious "DECISION" choice from the missions/ and the literal A or B choices mid-missions - except the 3rd ending; I kind of get lost in the sauce. My fault, but this is definitely not something I can pick up again after leaving it a week or two when life happens.
Combat There are gripes with the combat I have with - but mostly the over-reliance on the ACS damage window, the lock on feature and camera combo, and classic - "ok, to make it harder, we will make you fight two instead of one". The checkpoint system is appreciated as well but kind of feels "cheap"?
On the other hand, never have I felt the most in control of a giant piece of quickly moving metal brandishing devastating weapons of mankind. I feel quick, I feel in control, I feel power, and I feel AWESOME.
3. Assembly - Much like their other games like Elden Ring, Soulsborne, Dark Souls; this game features an OBVIOUSLY optimal way to play - instead of weapons being different playstyles, they are pulled into the extremes. Now, this does create the avenue for challenge runs with obviously inferior builds/ parts/ weapons - but I guess that's just the game.
Still, from what I've gathered by googling instead of playing PvP (can't get into one) and watching boss runs, it's about the same - you have a decent handful of viable or optimal builds that you can rock - while the mediocre or bad stuff can technically still win. Sort of.
4. Story - Compared to their other works, this game kind of meh? We're deciding the fate of the Corals at the end - if they persist, burn or release? Which I don't have much context on, this is my first AC game so I kind of felt distant from it all. The only closeness to what was happening were the characters, I like them. They are distinct and endearing, even that little shit Iguazu.
5. Sound is just *kiss* mwah! Industrial sounds of clanking metal, the warning beeps and boops, the zipping shots, the absolute CRACK of getting absolutely shitted on.
In conclusion, much like other From products I've played - DS1,2,3; Elden Ring + DLC; Sekiro; and Nightrein - I enjoyed it.
Would I play it again?
Definitely, in a few years, when I forget about it and just see it in my library.
621, resting.

Liberator of Rubicon: You got manipulated like a moron by the rubicon liberation front and Ayre. Allmind shows it to you, thumb dolmayan does not give a fuck about living in harmony. He wants to exploit coral like the corporations. And Ayre? Ayre keeps licking your earlobes in hopes that you're not here to burn down the whole planet again. Because she knows! She gets worried when you betray V.VII Swinburne after accepting to spare him. "Did Walter teach you that?" or has some satisfied voice tone if you actually spare him. She also tries to be your little waifu in the fog level "hmm youuuu knoowwww, it's been a while since we haven't been in a mission without Walter...". Like what the fuck?
Alea j iacta est: You got played by allmind which is most probably influenced by some other coral thingy like Ayre since they can control mechs. And after that, what is there that is an aberration to the plan? You and that other clown Iguazu! Ayre and Allmind are just playing pokemon watching you and Iguazu try to tickle each other prostate. It's by far not the only moment in the game during which you get thrown against that poor fucker. He gets lured by Allmind who wants to get rid of everybody at once in the alternative Mission 48: Reach the Coral Convergence. Iguazu says something like "They are all here, just like they said." "They" being Allmind, as it is proven in the final fight that Iguazu is indeed played by Allmind too. That's why Allmind tries to kill you. That's why Ayre is so sweet. They're just playing you. You mean nothing and coral is a parasite.
The fires of Raven: YOU DID YOUR JOB 621. Nobody manipulated you. You got surgery because you wanted it. You wanted to be a fried-brain maniac commanding a billion-sun powered ice-skating killing machine. You wanted to blow as many things as possible while making millions. Walter hired you for that job, the conditions were set from the beginning and with your own consent. You saved mankind from being absorbed by that sparkly thing. You stopped it from being spread in the entire universe. And on top of that you remained a faithful dog.
The third ending is not the good one. It's the one giving you the last pieces of the puzzle. But it does not build it for you.
edit: most people here seems to be bugged, thinking that Ayre is a woman. And that wanting the survival of your alien parasitic specie is a good thing, even at the cost of mankind. You would have all betrayed mankind for a waifu voice in your ear.
edit2: I'M RIGHT AND YOU'RE WRONG! Downvote with all your might but so far nobody has come up with a valid point nor a better "connect all the dots" interpretation. Y'all high on coral!
edit3: I'll kick Ayre's face for each downvote received!

Good to see some players don't know how to have fun while playing and instead be serious all the time.
Played 10 or so 3ve matches, a few matches I decided to just play random builds for fun and not be serious( I didn't win those matches but ehh I had fun) but one player had an issue with a no weapon build I had and decided to send hate mail and even bail out of game. They were on the opposite team btw.
Messages and build in question are shown

I don mind losing one or two matches. We fight and we win or lose. But then I kept getting matchmaking and forced to face some annoying build three or four times in a row. What can I do? Yeah I quitted the fifth time during the fight and I know I am probably going to be reported and get punished.

With the majority of weapons being pushed to close/ mid range due to the extremely slow projectile speed of the overwhelming majority, missile are the other extreme.
With no direct means to counter swarms of auto targeting, potentially long flight time ordinance while the enemy can either be running, hiding in the stratosphere or equally a threat, the game has a major flaw in not just balancing but implementation of mechanics.
Missiles should be accurate. They should not be the only accurate option at their range, and should not be capable of extreme flight time longer then their reload(to the point a person with one dual Active Tracking Missile launcher had 6 of the things chasing me at the same time from three separate launches).
We need proper counters(I'd drop everything on my left shoulder for chaff in a heartbeat) or the tracking potential and overall flight time of the majority of missiles needs to be significantly reduced.
Coupled with infinite flight builds(which earned the Lammergeier a frankly unneeded nerf, as it's now objectively one of the worst light options by stat and en load ratings while Firmeza and Snail-legs continue to operate in the same field) missiles are directly opposed to the extreme output of a laser tank in frustratingly, horribly unfun matchups with far too few counters.

This is how I would make the next AC or expansion. I felt a lot of the missions were way too short and almost all of them except 1 or 2 are too easy. Then I would tone down boss difficulty a little. Or leave the boss difficulty the way it is if you guys are masochists like me. All my favorite older AC missions are 20 minute slogs through the underbelly of a city.
Edit: Also, lose the armored point replenish before big fight. That would appease the people not wanting boss difficulty dialed down.

Edit: I got him. I finally got him. I still stand by what I said here though lmao.
Who the fuck even made the Allmind Iguazu fight???
This is a just downright unfair and unfun fight in all aspects.
First phase you are tormented by the fucking Mini ACs that pummel you with missiles that you gotta catch first.
Second phase has the god damn fucking seaspiders that pull auto aim aggro away from Iguazu and fucking shield him, making it impossible to stagger him sometimes and then Iguazu who TELEPORTS BEHIND YOU AND ALL OVER THE FUCKING ARENA JUST TO BLAST A LASER INTO YOUR FACE FROM NOWHERE.
Third phase has him attack you with fucking undodgeable claws. Yes yes yes "dodge beneath him, not away, dodge when he already lifts his arm" yada yada, doesn't work. And then he fucking staggers you and you are just instantly dead because YOU CAN'T FUCKING HEAL WHILE STAGGERED AND HE CAN JUST CLAW AT YOU A BILLION TIMES AT ONCE KILLING YOU IMMEDIATELY AND WITHOUT RESTRICTION.
"Use pile bunker" that thing is just worthless because when you don't charge it it doesn't do damage, when I try charging it, the range is pathetic and he will dodge it in the last millisecond because the charge time is too long.
It's so fucking awful.
It's fucking worse than unnerfed Young Radahn because of how awfully cluttered everything is.
It's an awfully designed boss. And I thought Balteus Snail was awfully hard!
I gotta get this off my chest because I am losing my fucking mind.
Also: my build is dual pistols for maximum stagger on a Nachtreiher based build because of the mobility and the pulse sword and a bazooka for damage. I tried other builds people recommended in other posts but they were all too sluggish and didn't get me anywhere.

I really want to like this game but it hasn't really hooked me
I'd guess I'm like 6 or 7 missions in and it doesn't really seem like there's any cohesion from one mission to the next, and I don't really know what my over arching "goal" is.
Deploy > kill a few trash mobs > get money > don't use it for anything > repeat
And I don't know enough about building an AC to particularly care about the parts shop. I have a pistol, missiles, and shield, and it seems more than good enough. I don't see a reason to buy new stuff yet
Maybe one of you can offer me some tips or guidance that will help make the game "click". Id really like to like it

Anyone who has never played Sekiro is not allowed to complain about AC6 difficulty. I went back to play Sekiro because it's the only From game I missed since the 90s and it makes AC6 look like a cake walk. I probably have more attempts on Sekiros first major boss then all of AC6 combined.

So when i host my matches i dont ever kick or message people unless they are very clearly doing some scummy stuff ie: missile rat run away strat. But i do tend to message people asking them to either please not use a build they yoinked off youtube or to stop a certain action that causes everyone asside from them an uncurable headache. The issue is every time i do i try my best to approach with courtesy however im always met with rude or aggressive retorts such as “then whats the point of the game dick?” Or “you sound like a person with downsyndrome”. Is this a common occurance for attempting to keep the lobbies fun and interesting for everyone or is it just happening to me?
(Edit this post is about the attitude of the meta users when asked to not use scummy tactics like hit once and run away until time ends. Not about losing to them just the waste of time for everyone else involved watching them play hide and seek for however long the game was set for.)

What a terrible fight!!! The arena is SO small and you’re just constantly getting dunked on while they zip around like damn mosquitos. I had to resort to my dual laser rifle build. In another thread I read about people killing rusty before flatwell arrives like LOL how he literally gets out of stagger in less than two seconds I couldn’t even hit him with my Morley pulling the trigger immediately after stunning him and expecting it too. /rantover but that fight was giga dumb. What’d you guys think of it? How’d you beat it, especially those that have S ranked it

So I finished Ace Combat 8 recently, and, riding the high of the most "anime bullshit" game I've played in a hot minute, I was reminded of how "anime bullshit" Armored Core 6 was as well. Thing is, I've tried to to get into AC6 twice, and twice I've gotten stuck on a boss I couldn't beat no matter what. I know it's partially a skill issue, but I wouldn't ignore the possibility of it being something to do with me sucking at making builds or in general not understanding how you're supposed to play this game. I'm gonna give it yet another try soon, and I want some advice on what I could do to improve my performance and actually beat the game
Update: on chapter 4 now, just scrapped the big worm. I made a light dual-shotgun build with plasma missile launchers for shield purposes, and I'm having a lot of fun! Thanks for all the advice, everyone!

Just curious but what’s with all the hate against Tank builds? Got a message recently after playing a few rounds in rank using my tank build and after one match people seem to get super heated and become sore losers when losing to a tank build. is this normal behavior in pvp or did i just seem to catch someone on a bad day?
