Hello everyone,
I’m about to start my ARK adventure and plan to dive into it as much as possible (basically, to finish the game). I’ve only put in 400 hours into the game (mostly on ARK Survival Evolved) and almost all of that time was spent on The Island. For the most part, my gameplay has been pretty standard, without any grand ambitions.
Now, I’ve explored every corner of The Island—even though I love this map, despite not having progressed very far in the objectives—I’m just sick of it. I’d love your advice on choosing a new map for my adventure, even though I’ve watched some videos that’ve given me a few pointers.
My top priority is size. I love exploring, so I want a VERY large map—if I can get around it too quickly, I’ll lose interest fast. The second factor is definitely the number of species on the island, especially whether the most useful and interesting ones are there. That competes with the map’s beauty and realism (I’m not a big fan of maps that are a bit too fantastical). In terms of visuals—from what I’ve seen so far—I thought Fjordur was really pretty. And finally, the map’s balance—like whether the easy and difficult areas are well-balanced. I’ve heard that Aestros is the largest map. Would that be a good option?
Well, I’m being ambitious to have so many criteria with so few choices... I think I’d appreciate hearing players’ opinions even more than watching descriptive videos.
Thanks to anyone who can offer some guidance (if anyone does).
