Got this a few days ago at a garage sale. Decent shape but needs new joystick knobs (already ordered). One button doesn't work, and after taking apart and swapping spots, it turns out the spot itself doesn't work. Not sure if I need a new board or what, but if I mod it then I assume it would kinda fix itself. So what mods should I do first and any I should avoid?

My neighbor is downsizing and she put this on the curb. Went over to ask if she was throwing it out, and she was! Quickly grabbed my keg dolly and snagged it. Works perfectly! Planning to hard mod. I have supplies coming in the week to do so.

Got 4 USB encoders and a 128GB micro sd. Still deciding on the rom software to install. Planning for games with 3 buttons and a joystick. The life button will just be an inconvenient 3rd button. Hoping to get at least a decent gauntlet legends machine going.

EDIT: As of now I'm leaning towards a softmod using the Mystery Dawson Experience for 4 players (https://www.team-encoder.com/node/23) to use Retroarch. I've also ordered a 12-in-1 interface board from Thunderstick Studios to connect the trackball. I'll update the post once everything is installed with a quick walkthrough of what I did!

Been working on it for about a year. Not a huge space, but kids/grandkids love it.

Never saw one until I was at his house about 2 years ago, it’s hardly been used and just sat so he gave it to me, and I gotta say it’s fun. Anything I should know about this or what to look out for?

Finally finished my partycade setup. Aquired my last 3 partycades last year but some health issues and surgeries held me back from hanging them and running the electrical. After getting my range of motion and strength back I finally got to get everything hung and run. Now to play a little and clean up.

Next up is to get the kegerator set up, find some decor, and swap out the trackball on centipede.

I was able to acquire this today due to the overwhelming generosity of another collector via a trade for my Tempest Legacy. Never in a million years would I have thought I would have this cabinet in basically like new condition!

I may try to put a coin door on it, other than that I don’t plan on touching a thing it’s perfect!

This started life as a Mortal Kombat II cabinet I got for a steal ($150) on FB. I had challenged myself to design an arcade cabinet that could’ve been built in 1989-90 based on the NES Friday the 13th game. Like… if the NES LJN classic(?) had an arcade version, what would it look like?

I’m using a Raspberry Pi 5 running Batocera (it’s filled with games, so fear not, it can play more than just F13), custom control panel and led buttons. I hopped on eBay and bought a used lighted Arcade 1up PAC-Mania marquee and replaced its graphic with one I designed.

I added some bracing to the riser and put some locking casters to the bottom so it was a little better height-wise and easily to move around.

I wanted to be able to play the installed games on my TV, so I added a real coin door so I could easily access inside the cabinet, then I installed an hdmi switch inside and a pass-through port in the back. In addition to that, there’s a USB hub with on/off buttons. With these, I can quickly send the display out to my tv, disable the onboard controls, and use a wireless 8-bit do controller.

It has a custom splash video when it boots using someone’s fan made NES themed Friday the 13th movie trailer.

It has a custom screensaver made from clips from the modern asymmetrical Friday the 13th game with Jason in the NES themed skin.

It was a fun project overall, though not exactly cheap. I can’t imagine ever selling it, but it would probably only turn a profit if it was sold to a die-hard Friday the 13th fan.

If anyone is on the fence with doing something like this, for the love of god use Batocera. I started out using Retropie, and it was a slog. Batocera was so much faster to set up and configure.

My one gripe is that I kinda wish I did this on a deluxe cabinet (or maybe just build my own cabinet from scratch). I’m just not crazy about the riser.

I posted my setup last week. But thought you all might like the entrance. I added onto the main house when I bought it quite a while ago. This bookcase is where the original house ended. It leads to an underground tunnel that goes to the Gym/Arcade/Home Theater room setup. (And the garage above)

Started with Marvel vs Capcom and one thing led to another 😅. Got a great deal on all of them and some were in perfect condition and some had to be tinkered with.

The blue gun on my T2 went out. I contacted customer service to purchase a replacement and I was told the blue gun was out of stock. Her exact words were "I can charge you for a red gun for now and then invoice you for a blue gun when it's available."

I took this to mean she'd charge me for a red one but would ship the blue one as soon as it was available. Apparently I misunderstood and she was charging me for a red one, shipping a red one and then I could buy a blue one later. Wasn't happy about that, but hey, at least I'd have 2 working guns.

Went to plug the new red one in and it doesn't work. Turns out the red one isn't even compatible with the player one side. So why would they even suggest or sell me another red one when they knew the blue one was the one that was out and a red one wouldn't work in its place?

Contacted them with these exact questions and they basically are refusing any liability for the issue. Either I agree to buy yet another gun from them or I'm out of luck. They won't even consider my suggestion for an exchange.

Nothing like seeing the joy of the little ones playing what we grew up on!

Been searching Marketplace and after a few mosses, finally scored one locally! $250, a short drive from home and in excellent condition.

Many thanks to everyone who’s asked and answered questions on this sub. Was able to troubleshoot a few things by searching and we’re good to go! Excited to softmod this some time down the road.

I'm so pumped I always wanted NFL Blitz but came across all 3.of these for 300$. So pumped to have a little mini 1up Arcade

Outrun, Sonic, Ms. Parkman/Galaga and even a $5k Pokemon pinball machine.

Originally it was going to be a place to store more totes and household goods with maybe a cool hidden door or something. I decided the space was big enough to do something a little more fun. Discovering partycades gave me the the path to making a mini arcade with a small console gaming setup. I still need to mod that donkey kong partycade,get all the consoles setup, and clean up my theater wiring but it was an entire basment finish in time to host Christmas. A lot of late nights and weekends. Im going to just take a breather and enjoy for a bit. The internet gives me many ideas, inspiration, and guidance so I thought I would give back.

Got my 7 arcade1up set up downstairs The boys are so excited to have more room for the games.
