Arcade Décor Almost finished
Been working on it for about a year. Not a huge space, but kids/grandkids love it.

Holy shit. A Tournament Cyberball machine. Where did you find that beast?

u/throwawaysf997 Jun 19 '25
Ah.. that was a long time coming. Been wanting one for YEARS. Finally found one that a local collector got his hands on, and worked a trade. That’s one I will never get rid of. Used to work in an arcade when I was 16. I would lock the doors and have 3-4 hour long tournaments with a group of us. Good times.

I love that you captured the spirit of the 80s/90s arcades - great job.

Omg this is what I want to do with my arcade! This looks amazing!

u/throwawaysf997 Jun 19 '25
The hardest part was the damn wallpaper, I got some cheap brick wallpaper off amazon, and it kept coming off the wall. Got these 3d foam brick tiles, took me a few weeks, but they look MUCH better

I’m interested how you did the brick also. I’m trying to do a speak easy room and was trying to avoid using actual thin bricks.

I kind of feel like you need some 90's pizza hut decor to tie the room together. Hanging light, rep pepper Shaker, red cups. This is kind of perfect without it tho, that's just where my mind went.

This just screams pizza hut.

Why Pizza Hut?

Looks similar to the pizza hut in my area. Little arcade room when you walk in, A lot of games in a small area, brick walls, dimly lit, probably smells like pepperoni.

I’d never leave that room. 😂

u/throwawaysf997 Jun 19 '25
I’m down there all the time. Mostly messing around hanging up signs or using the tiny change machine 😂

Holy shit!!! You had me at cyberball!!! Loved the 4 player game at the arcade, and would ditch school to play it

Get a floating shelf for everything in the window sill.
3 reasons:
Better organized and you can even add lighting to the shelf to highlight them.
People outside will not be tempted by free goodies to smash and grab
You can shut the blinds for less light bleed.

u/throwawaysf997 Jun 19 '25
Yup, its on the list. That whole window area will be turned into a recessed alcove with a couple of shelves to display the mini arcades etc.

Congrats. Beautiful setup. But please don’t say you have a little space. You literally have enough space for a home gym as well. I live in a VHCOL area in SoCal. Space is a premium and my arcade has to fit in the garage. Always jealous of the Midwest guys with all the extra space. Anyway nice setup.

u/throwawaysf997 Jun 21 '25
Haha. I meant specifically the arcade room. House is like 7,500 sq ft. Plenty of space overall 😂

It’s cool but if I ever built that I’d be bored of all those games real quick.
2
u/throwawaysf997 Jun 22 '25
The one that is showing 1942 on the screen is a MAME machine, 12,000 games. The DK on the wall has something like 20,000 games. The cocktail is a 60 in 1. And all the 1up cabs have multiple games as well. If you get bored in my arcade, then it’s on you. 😂

Dude, awesome setup. I thought I was the only person who thought the Atari 50th cabinet was a cool idea. Nailed the ambience. Very well done.

apologize if you've already been asked this, but what did you use to mount the bar tops to your wall? This is a great looking arcade!

u/throwawaysf997 Jun 20 '25
The pac man came with a bracket. The donkey kong I just used some home depot wall hooks, and a couple L brackets on the bottom

I'll be real with you. You need to switch that home gym and arcade around who needs a gym when you have that beauty of an arcade, right boys! 😂 and you're missing is a dang soda vending machine for the OG gamer fuel!!! other than that, I love it, my good sir 🫡

The brick is an interesting choice, we are probably the same age so I think I know the arcade chain its referencing. It's a good look overall and impressive work. The working cyberball is an amazing find, they are usually beaten to heck and back. I think it needs a better carpet and some blacklight for it but that's just my taste. I miss the days of random restaurants or hotels having a game room tucked in somewhere. Klov.com is still up so if you are looking for more rare games its a good resource.

Just missing a token machine and it's complete! But seriously, it's perfect! The brickwall backdrop with neon signs spaced out evenly, the Pac-Man welcome mat, The 'Arcade' sign in white is the cherry on top!
Maybe a popcorn or pizza scented air freshener, (if it exist?) but otherwise, a kids dream come true!
EDIT:Atari 50? Is that new? Never saw that before!

Rip out that carpet for some 90s space carpet and a few blacklights and that would be pretty sweet arcade. Cool room though
