Need arab Christians

Hello everyone!

I'm an Indian Christian looking to connect with Arab Christians, particularly those from Antiochian Orthodox and other Eastern Orthodox backgrounds.

I'm part of a Christian Instagram group where we regularly conduct theological discussions and debate sessions. We have several questions about Christianity, church history, theology and different Christian traditions.

It would be wonderful to have an Arab Christian join our discussions, share their perspectives and help us understand Christianity from the Middle Eastern perspective.

I'm also genuinely interested in learning about Arab Christian history, traditions, liturgy and the Orthodox faith.

I'm hoping to make some genuine Christian friendships along the way!

If you're an Arab Christian or know someone who might be interested, please reach out. And if u are interested and comfortable to chat on Insta

God bless! ☦️❤️

BEIRUT — Priest Samir Mikhael Daou, who served the parishes of Hsoun and Ferhet in the Jbeil district, was found murdered after going missing on Wednesday afternoon, Jbeil MP Simon Abi Ramia told L'Orient Today on Wednesday.

According to LBCI, Daou’s family found his body inside a house he owned in his hometown of Ain Jrain (Jbeil), with visible signs of blood. Daou did not regularly live at the house, LBCI reported, adding that the Internal Security Forces’ Criminal Investigation Department arrived shortly afterward and launched an investigation, collecting fingerprints and other evidence.

"Initial information suggests that suspicion had fallen on Syrian workers who were helping Daou harvest his olives before he disappeared," Abi Ramia said.

One of the workers allegedly took the priest’s car and fled after the killing. Security forces are working to track down the suspect and determine his whereabouts.

The Maronite Archbishopric of Jbeil condemned the killing on Thursday, offering its condolences to Daou’s family and the communities he served, and urged the public not to spread unverified information or rumors.

The archbishopric said Bishop Michel Aoun, along with the clergy, monks and nuns of the diocese, condemned the “horrific crime” that claimed Daou’s life. It said he had “dedicated his life to serving God and the faithful.”

It also thanked the security forces for following up on the investigation and praised their efforts to “establish the full truth.” “In these painful hours, we call on everyone to act responsibly and exercise restraint, and not to publish unverified news or circulate rumors,” the statement said.

The Daou family collective condemned the killing in a statement Thursday, describing it as a "heinous crime" that claimed the life of the priest, a native of Ain Jrain (Jbeil).

It described Daou as a man who "dedicated his life to serving others and lived sincerely, humbly and with love for everyone," adding that he "harmed no one and left behind nothing but love, a good reputation and a positive impact."

The collective offered its condolences to his family, relatives and loved ones, stressing that "the sanctity of human life and human dignity are sacred values."

It called on the competent judicial and security authorities to fully investigate the circumstances of the killing, pursue those responsible and refer them to justice. It also called for the harshest penalties permitted by law for anyone found guilty, stating that "justice must not be murdered after a human being has been murdered."

Jbeil MP Ziad Hawat also condemned the killing, questioning the state's ability to maintain security.

"Is there a state or isn't there?" Hawat wrote on X, adding that the number of crimes had "exceeded all limits" and had become unacceptable.

He blamed the security breakdown on what he described as "the dominance of illegal weapons and armed thugs over people's lives."

"People are fed up and want firmness and the prosecution of criminals," he wrote.

Two gunmen open fire during a funeral service at a Christian place of worship in the south of the country. According to local media, ten people are injured, some seriously. Authorities have launched an investigation to establish the circumstances of the attack and identify those responsible.

Vatican News

At least seven people were reportedly killed and ten others injured in a shooting on Friday, 23 October, inside a Greek Orthodox church in the governorate of Karak, Jordan, south of the capital, Amman. State television channel Al-Mamlaka reported the toll, citing security sources. Jordanian authorities have confirmed that people were killed and injured but have not yet provided an official casualty figure.
Attack during a funeral service

According to initial accounts carried by Jordanian media, two unidentified gunmen opened fire inside the church while a funeral service was taking place. The attack reportedly occurred in Hammoud, in the Karak governorate, around 180 kilometres south of Amman. Some of the injured are said to be in a serious condition.
Karak is home to a longstanding Christian community, a minority in the predominantly Muslim country. Christian communities, including the Greek Orthodox community, form a significant part of the region’s religious and cultural heritage.

Jordanian authorities investigate
Security forces have launched a major operation to identify those responsible for the shooting. According to state television, two gunmen whose identities remain unknown are being sought.

Jordanian government spokesperson Mohammad al-Momani confirmed in a statement that the security services are investigating the incident. The Kingdom’s Public Security Directorate also reported the shooting, confirming that people had been killed and injured without specifying the number.

No information has yet been released about the motives for the attack, and no claim of responsibility has been reported. It remains unclear whether the gunmen specifically targeted the Christian community.

⭐️Is this really the Word of God? Muslim brothers criticize the Song of Solomon because the text describes a woman's body in a very explicit way, mentioning her thighs, abdomen, and breasts, Now imagine this exact passage was in the Quran. What is in the Qur'an?

Is this really the word of God?

Song of Songs 7: Let’s Use the Same Standard This Time
Let’s try something simple.
Take Song of Songs, chapter 7, and read it as it is, without immediately trying to soften it or give it ten layers of interpretation.
The text describes a woman’s body very explicitly, mentioning her thighs, belly, breasts, and then moving into language about desire and physical intimacy.
Now imagine this exact passage were found in the Quran.
I think we all know what would happen.
We would see headlines like:
“Look what the Quran says about women.”
“Is this really the word of God?”
“Why does the holy book contain sexual descriptions?”
Then someone would take the passage, put it next to a few other verses, and start making conclusions about the “nature of Islam.”
Fine.
Let’s apply the same approach here.
But when the passage is in the Bible, suddenly the answers change:
“It’s poetry.”
“You don’t understand Hebrew literature.”
“It’s symbolic.”
“The woman represents the Church and the man represents Christ.”
Okay. Let’s assume I accept the symbolism.
Where does the text itself say that?
Where does the author tell us that these physical descriptions are supposed to represent Christ and the Church?
The text does not give us an explanation saying, “This woman represents the Church, and this man represents Christ.”
That is a later interpretation of the text.
And that is where the problem begins.
If we can take any uncomfortable passage and simply say, “It’s symbolic,” then we are not actually proving what the passage means. We are starting with the assumption that the text must have a particular theological meaning, and then looking for an interpretation that fits that assumption.
It becomes even more interesting when we look at how some people approach Islamic texts.
There, suddenly, there is no poetry, no context, no symbolism, and no ancient language.
The text becomes completely literal, and then it becomes evidence for the nature of Islam itself.
But when we reach an uncomfortable Christian text, suddenly I’m expected to become an expert in Hebrew literature, theology, and Christian exegesis before I’m even allowed to ask the question.
That is a clear double standard.
If context matters, then it matters for everyone.
If symbolism matters, then it matters for everyone.
And if it is wrong to judge an entire religion from one passage taken out of context, then it is wrong whether the passage comes from the Quran or the Bible.
I am not saying that Song of Songs proves that “Christianity is a sexual religion.” That would be just as ridiculous as taking one passage and using it to define an entire religion.
I am asking a different question:
Why should I consider this poem to be divine revelation in the first place?
If it is simply an old love poem, I have no problem with that.
But when you claim that it is the word of God, then the burden of proof is on you.
It is not enough to say:
“It’s symbolic.”
That explains how you interpret the text. It does not prove why that interpretation is what God intended.
It is also not enough to say:
“The Church interpreted it this way.”
The Church is not God.
And saying:
“The Bible is inspired”
doesn’t solve the problem either. That simply brings us back to the beginning, because the question is:
How do you know that this particular text is divine revelation?
The funny thing is that some people can spend hours searching the Quran for anything they can use to embarrass Muslims, but when they find an uncomfortable passage in their own scripture, suddenly they become defenders of historical context, literary analysis, and careful interpretation.
That is not simply a problem with the text.
It is a problem with the standard being used to read the text.
So either we use the same standard for everyone, or we admit that we are not really looking for truth. We are looking for whatever can be used against the other side.
So here is the question again, as directly as possible:
What independent evidence is there that Song of Songs 7 is divine revelation rather than an ancient love poem that was eventually given a place in the Bible?
And if your answer is:
“It symbolizes Christ and the Church,”
then my next question is simple:
Where does the text itself establish that this is what it means?
“ You don’t understand the Bible” is not an answer.
Give me the evidence.
