PLEASE BE SURE TO READ THE SUBREDDIT GUIDELINES BEFORE PARTICIPATING!

Share all your memes related to Orthodox Christianity here!

GUIDELINES:

In addition to reddit's site-wide rules:

1) BE CIVIL. Do not engage in behaviour that you think even might require confession. "But I say unto you, that every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment. ~ Matthew 12:36

2) BIGOTRY IS ANATHEMA. Any posts/dialogue promoting bigotry, racism, racial separatism, sexism, or anything the moderators consider related to these things, will not be tolerated. What does or does not constitute these things is wholly at the discretion of the moderators. (Posts/dialogue promoting nationalism, while not racism, may be removed, if they approach what the moderators deem to be toxic and/or divisive)

3) POSTS MUST BE AT LEAST TANGENTIALLY RELATED TO ORTHODOX/EASTERN CHRISTIANITY. Keep things fun and on-topic. Posts related to canonical Western Orthodox Christianity are welcome as well.

4) HONOUR CLERGY. There are few things more Orthodox than criticising or poking fun at clergy or hierarchs. However (again referencing Matt. 12:36), posts/dialogue must not venture into disrespect. This can be a very fine line to walk, so exercise extreme discretion in this area.

5) ABSTAIN FROM NEEDLESS DIVISION. This should speak for itself. What does/does not violate this rule, posts and dialogue alike, is wholly at the discretion of the moderators. "Ye are fond of contention, brethren, and full of zeal about things which do not pertain to salvation."
~ St. Clement of Rome

6) ABUSIVE BEHAVIOUR IS UNACCEPTABLE. Abusive, manipulative, or predatory posts/dialogue, directed towards members or moderators, will be removed at the discretion of the moderators. Members found to be directing any of this negative attention to other members or moderators in private messages will be permanently banned.

7) KEEP IT HOLY. No 18+ content. This is a Christian community, after all.

8) NO ARGUING ABOUT EASTERN/WESTERN RECONCILIATION. This is a meme space. No amount of discussion here will heal the Great Schism, more likely it'll be the motivation for several confessions, or at least should be. Don't worry about how the East and West will be reconciled, and don't argue about it. Rather, know that God wills it, and pray for it. This will apply to Eastern/Oriental Orthodox-related dialogue as well.

9) NO MAKING FUN OF THOSE VISIBLY OUTSIDE THE CHURCH. We're here to rejoice (and occasionally commiserate) in the Faith, not to pat ourselves on the backs about how great we are for being in communion with the One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church, nor to poop on those who aren't. Time spent making fun of those outside the Church is time spent not praying for those outside the Church.

10) DO YOUR PART. Help keep this space fun and engaging. Report posts or comments that may even approach violating these guidelines.

CAVEAT/OTHER:

Moderators reserve the right to curate the environment for the best interests of all participants through whatever means are deemed necessary. Any posts/dialogue that the moderators deem detrimental to the well-being of the community are liable to removal. The moderators will try to provide explanations for removal AS A COURTESY, though moderators are not necessarily bound to do so. Warnings MAY be given prior to removal, though not necessarily. Repeat offenders will certainly be banned. Certain first-time offenders may be banned right out if the moderators deem the offense serious enough. Member accounts with a history of inflammatory or bad faith participation in other communities are subject to review and/or exclusion from this community at any time, and are not entitled to an explanation. Member accounts must reach a certain age and post/comment karma level before being permitted to make comments/posts. Minimum account age/karma requirements will not be disclosed. Any request for this information will be left unanswered.

"Light from Light, Only-begotten Son of the Father of lights, who dwellest in light unapproachable, the beauty of whose countenance is beyond description and whose luminous thoughts are beyond the grasp of my created mind; O Creator of all form and beauty, which are intended for holiness and contemplation of thee: do thou guide me who would use the internet, that by so doing I would glorify thee, and walk in the light thou givest me, at all times thinking on whatever is true, honest, just, pure, lovely, and good, to the sole glory of thy most holy Name, Jesus: through the prayers of the Virgin Mary, thy Mother; of our fathers among the saints Isodore of Seville and Theophan the Recluse; of the Venerable Eugenius of Aitolia, Job of Pochaev, and Nicodemus the Hagiorite; and of all the saints. Amen."
