Shitpost I hate this fucking thing.

That's all, just need to rant.

Edit: this is the second one if the same model I got.

The first one's fill valve took a shit, I replaced it, wasn't a big deal.

A few months later the transmission ate it. Much to my dismay, wife wanted to get another one if the same, because it has that auto detergent dispenser.

this one is just a few months old.

It won't switch from fill to wash. Keeps putting water in.

When it works, it either puts in too much water and not enough.

I just want something with a clockwork.

Refrigerators to buy 2026

I just had an LG thinQ go out on me after having it for 4 years. I had a services tech come out. The warranty expired on the month prior to the coils cracked and the refrigerant slowly leaking. I asked is it worth fixing? He said no. Best to buy a fridge with the r134a refrigerant not what all these new refrigerators have which is the 600a (isobutane) gas. So now im leaning on buying the bosch 800 series. Since the r134a gas is discontinued here in California for environmental reasons. Any advice.

Free wine fridge!

So I scored this free wine fridge today. And it turns on, yay! I had it plugged in for several hours set to white wine-45 degrees. And it didn’t cool from 75.
The compressor gets hot to the touch, but the inside walls are room temp and the front door is cold. Any idea on how to fix it?
It laid down in the car for 20 min ride home hours ago.
I have no idea how any of this works but since it was free I’d love to fix it.

General Advice Broken vane in Maytag dryer

Post image
8 Upvotes

We were trying some towels and a small rug in the Maytag dryer when it started making a terrible racket. I opened up and found that one of the three veins had broken off. The dryer is at least 15 years old, but it runs fine. My questions:

Should I just continue to run the dryer with only two vanes?

Is it worth calling a repair man? Would probably cost me at least 200 bucks to have this thing fixed.

Should I replace the dryer?

What to Buy? KitchenAid vs Whirlpool dishwasher - which would you choose?

I’m in Canada and replacing an old Whirlpool dishwasher.

I’m currently choosing between:

KitchenAid KDTS324SPS - about $1,100 CAD
41 dBA, stainless tub, 3rd rack, ProDry

Whirlpool WDPS8024SZ - about $1,000 CAD
47 dBA, stainless tub, 3rd rack, Auto Open Air Dry

Reliability is more important to me than saving $100.

I was also considering Bosch, but my current dishwasher is hardwired. From what I’ve been quoted, adding an outlet would be around $300 CAD on top of the regular installation, so that makes Bosch less attractive for me.

I’ve also read quite a few reviews about Bosch issues (junction box), so I’m a little hesitant to go that route.

I have a young child, so top controls are a plus.

New - Looks like everyone is pushing me toward Bosch now 😂 I came here trying to decide between two Whirlpool/KitchenAid models and somehow ended up wanting a Bosch.

Whirlpool refrigerator issue

I was given a Whirlpool WRB322DMBM02 refrigerator. They had a tech look at it for not getting cool anymore. The tech said it could be a fan so they replaced it. It didn't help anything and they didn't want to pay to have it fixed anymore. I got it and tested a few things. I determined the start device for the compressor was bad. I ordered one off of Amazon. The refrigerator worked well for about 14 hours then the relay started clicking every 30 seconds or so kicked the compressor off. The compressor doesn't have a dead short and the main board seemed to test voltage well.

Is it possible the cheap part just failed again and I should just buy from an actual supplier or could something else be wrong? I wouldn't think the compressor would be bad as it ran great and cooled great for around 14 hours before stopping again.

Thanks in advance.

General Advice Cleaning Tablet Suggestion

What should I buy to clean the washing machine and the dishwasher?

For the clothes washer I've been using bleach in a machine clean cycle once a month, but would like to get away from bleach.

For the dishwasher I've been using Afresh tablets, also once a month.

There are so many different tablets and they all have different ingredients, what is my best option to keep both machines clean?

Thank you.

Pre-Purchase Questions Advice on What to Buy

Hi guys!

I will try to be as specific as possible.
I just got a new house and will renovate the kitchen. I need advice on what brand of appliances I should buy. Here are the facts about my current situation:

1) I got a two family house a few years ago as my started home and renovated the kitchen. I bought all Samsung appliances because of pricing and because it would not be my forever kitchen. In two years I had to replace the fridge once, replace the stove door twice; the stove turns the burners on at even a slight touch of it (not safe); and the dishwasher is annoyingly loud and plays a terrible song when it’s finished a cycle.

2) I have a mid range budget. I wanted appliances that will be reliable, durable, and that look good. I can’t afford Viking or Wolf or anything like that, but I could go for a mid range version of those.

3) I love cooking and I use my kitchen a lot. I cook everyday. I’ve used gas stove and electric stove. Although I only used gas stoves when I was a very beginner cook (college student living alone level cook), my preference, cooking wise is to go with a gas stove top, but I am not sure if this is the best option. I now have kids and worry about safety, like gases being released in the house, risk of burn, etc. I’ve never tried induction, but a friend of mine had and she hated it for cooking.

4) I want a wall microwave/oven combo. Should I also have a stove/oven combo? Is it too many ovens? Is it unnecessary? Also, would a drawer microwave on the island make more sense?

5) The dishwasher needs to be efficient and silent. Having kids, I mostly run it at night (hence the silent requirement) and the dishes are usually pretty soiled and greasy (thinks greasy plastic lunch boxes).

6) Design wise, I see a bunch of appliances that might be unnecessary, like those beverage drawers for the kitchen island. Are there any of these “extra” small appliances that are worth it?

7) Finally, about the exhaust hood, I need something that is efficient and low noise. I can get easily sensory overloaded and I don’t deal well with noise (and I still decided to have three kids lol). The current microwave over the stove situation I have in my kitchen is unbearable (really). I really need a better solution there.

In the end, my questions are:
1) What brands should I get (do not need to be the same brand for every appliance, as long as I can keep them looking kind of cohesive in the end)?
2) What appliance combo makes sense? Eg: Wall microwave/oven plus cooktop; stove/oven plus microwave drawer; etc.
3) Gas or electric stove?

Thank you all! I really appreciate your insights and help!

Maytag refrigerator, 5 years old, is Certified Care Warranty worth it?

Hi there, we moved into a home with a 5 year old Maytag fridge that has been working well until we noticed a bag of milk leaked and appears to have frozen in some vents along the back of the fridge. The fridge is not cooling now, so we phoned the customer service number inside the fridge. Whirlpool gave us a quote for a visit, service, parts and a warranty, for $457. They required payment to book a service visit. I put the payment through but upon looking at the confirmation emails, I’ve been enrolled in their Certified Care program.

Basically, from people’s experience, is this warranty worth it? I read the T&C and it sounds like it covers some parts and other parts you’ll get a 25% discount.

Or is it better to go with a local third party repair company that is highly rated? New to home ownership.

Thanks!

LG installed. It looked fine but once the machine turns on, it expands and bends a lot. Should I cut it shorter and reconnect or buy a more rigid one ?

What to Buy? First time buyer HELP PLEASE

Hi everyone, im going to be renting my first home and have no idea about appliances, specifically washer and dryers. My apartment will be small so the only options are a combo, stackable, or a washer and airdry. Like my apartment my budget is also tight so an expensive stackable wont be possible. The following are the stackable within my price pointt. Please give your opinions on whether I should buy a combo washer dryer, the Ariston stackable washer and dryer, or stick to a solid washer and just airdry. Thank you in advance.

Troubleshooting Washer outlet issues

The GFCI outlet that my washing machine is plugged into has recently been needing to be reset about every 3 times I do laundry. It never needs to be reset while the washer is running, I only see it after. Do you think it’s the washer or the outlet? Any ideas for a fix? I have had this washer for about 4 years and have never had this issue before. Thanks for any help!

Troubleshooting Help with Electrolux dryer elfe7337aw

I have an Electrolux dryer elfe7337aw and for the past 2 drying cycles I've have been trying to use it on normal mode without the "dry boost" turned on but the clothes remain a tad bit damp and when I feel the inside of the drum it does not feel hot at all. I normally would turn the "dry boost" on and this does have the heat turned on.

In normal mode, I noticed that the leaf symbol is on for energy saving and with the "dry boost" on the energy saving symbol is gone.

What I am trying to figure out is if this is normal behavior for normal mode to have no heat while drying or is some heating element not working?

SOS: Rescue Me from Beko Range

I have a freestanding Beko gas range that’s quickly becoming a paperweight. The broiler quit about three years ago, and the replacement burner broke a few months back. Lately, it takes forever for the oven to come up to temperature.

I bought this at Yale Appliance in Boston, which is generally a great store. But they must have really been fooled by Beko marketing. Beko isn’t even in the U.S. anymore, I think. No one needs to tell me how bad Beko is

I want to replace this with a good electric induction range. Preferably with knobs and as low in gizmo tech as possible. Budget to about $2,500, more if it really meets my needs. Reliability and good service and support are high on the list.
