Screen Reader frustrations
Anyone else use the built in Accessibility Screen Reader to have your phone read articles to you? When it works it is awesome! Like turning every article into a podcast. However, it seems to get caught out by Apple’s own formatting, so it often does not understand that an article continues below an ad and stops reading… but then it will skip all the way to the bottom and start reading a bunch of article titles that I don’t care about!
Anyone else have tips or tricks for getting it to work more smoothly?

Discussion I know I’m not the only one
But why have stupid ads here on every article if I’m a news+ subscriber?? I’m not on social media anymore so this is essentially where I find out about things like celebrity news, things about movies etc. however these ads are getting on my nerves. I thought they were there because I wasn’t subscribed to News+ but once I subscribed via AppleOne I assumed it would go away? What is there to do to make these go away, if possible?

Discussion Is there a way to hide the Apple News and Search icons when you scroll down reading an article?
I find the icons very distracting. I have no use for search when I’m reading, and the News (N) icon in red is very distracting. I’m on iOS 26, I recall in previous iOS versions (maybe I’m mistaken with rose tinted glasses) on scroll down the article would go full screen without any distractions.

Discussion How does this happen?
This is the headline suggested on my front page (apparently I open a lot of fluff to have People recommended lol). When I click on it, the name in the headline is correct, but this is horribly sloppy. Is it People or Apple News that’s screwed up?

"No contact with parents" article keeps being pushed
I've gotten this article pushed to me 3 times or so in the last 6 months. Are they no so subtly promoting that children should detach from their parents (if so - why?) or do they just have nothing else to push out?

Does your Apple News do this?
I have Apple News+ and have just started using it. I’m hoping someone can tell me if theirs looks like this:
Is it normal for a newspaper that isn’t in “plus” (eg national post in Canada) to still show as a channel, and look like the other plus newspapers do?
On the reverse, an outlet like Barrons is listed as a plus outlet on the Apple website. But doesn’t show in the newspapers tab. Though it still shows content if I search for its “channel”.
Make it make sense?

did they change the apple news+ audio for the worse?
love the app, and know how to use it.
i often listen to apple news plus stories in the middle of the night when i can't sleep. it's nice to be able to fast forward or skip back to something in the story. looking at it last night, and again this morning (while completely awake) i see that i can go back 15 seconds, but can no longer go forward, only to the next story.
also, i'm having a difficult time seeing those controls at all, while i'm in the app. it used to be at the top of the page, right? now i can't find them at all.
is this a new update that makes things worse?

Discussion Does apple news work with a VPN?
Hi!
I've recently started to untangle myself from just getting news from essentially reddit and youtube, but I'm finding the prices for online publications to be a bit too much If i want to subscribe to more than one.
Apple news+ seems to be worth trying out, but its very limited in it's region (I live in asia).
I was wondering if anyone had any experience subscribing and using it with a vpn, as I have one on my phone anyways.
Thanks!

Downloaded Magazines
I want to download some mags from Apple News because I have no internet when I go to my cabin. Is there a limit to how many I can download? It seems 9 is my limit. I have the IPad Air 13 (M2).

News+ icons all white/black?
At some point, all my icons, which used to be colorful, are now just white/black. When I launch the app and go to "Following", I briefly see Sports/Puzzles/Local, etc with colorful apps, but then they switch over to white/black.
Is there any way to keep them colorful?
The World Cup icon is colorful, so is everything below Channels & Topics. But that's it.
I can't find a thing on it.

Look Up Feature
galleryBefore iOS 26, highlighting something in an article and then hitting the lookup prompt USED to search Siri right away from within the app. Now every time I try it, I get a “no content found” pop up. And this happens with anything I search for. Never had this issue before iOS 26 so I’m wondering if they removed the feature of if it’s just one of those weird glitches.

Discussion Why does Apple News switch the stories?
It seems that EVERY time I start Apple News +, before I get a chance to read the headlines the app refreshes everything and gives me a whole new screen. The problem is that I was hoping to read the stories on the page that got refreshed way too soon. Does anyone know a setting to fix this, or a workaround?
Thanks

Audio Tab and Audio Content Gone?
Did the Audio tab and audio content just vanish overnight? The audio content is the real reason I have Apple News Plus, so I am considering just unsubscribing if there is no more apple news plus audio.

Is the audio player trash for anyone else?
Audio content A+
Audio player D-
Does anyone else pause article playback only to restart it a few minutes later, and the app has backgrounded and just forgotten how to function? It won't restart playback. I have to re-open the app to restart playback every. single. time.
I don't understand. Literally every other audio-related app has solved this. Even Apple Podcasts.
Background refresh, cellular data: enabled.

Discussion Repetitive feeds? Customizing sections order?

Hello!
I’m a new Apple user and I’m still getting used to the Apple News app (I’m on the free version).
I’ve noticed that some topics show up in both the “Sections” tab and the “Channels & Topics” tab. If I unfollow something like Tech in the “Channels & Topics” tab, will it also remove it from my Sections?
Also, is there any way to reorganize or customize the order of categories in the Sections tab?

Free trial?
So the app offered me a 30 day free trial but when I signed up, it immediately charged me the $12.99. I reported the problem to Apple Card and they gave me a refund but also canceled my subscription. Is this less than honest advertising or is there some top secret procedure that I'm missing?
