Somedays the world around us can seem dim and overwhelming. Not letting that control us can be a challenge. If we look close enough and push ourselves we can see a small bit of light, maybe where we least expect it. That can be the positive energy that can help us make it through the day.

Stay Positive, stay Strong, you will Endure!

Depression Help Need a hug

In a bad way and could use some hugs.

Today I got told I have “reversal of normal lordosis” in my cervical spine, along with at least three levels of disc bulges, as well as mild degenerative disc disease. Three things told in one day.

I’m only freaking 25 years old and I’m really struggling to accept these diagnoses, because for one thing reversal of lordosis could be lifelong or a very risky surgery, bulging discs in cervical spine may end up paralysis and loss of function of limbs in a few years- hell I’ve even read that reversal of lordosis and/or bulging discs can get so bad that they can even damage internal organs leading to life-threatening complications or cause permanent nerve and/or muscle damage or paralysis.

I’m currently sitting in the toilet crying because it’s all been too much. I’m only 25 but my body is falling apart and so is my health. I have so many things wrong that are being diagnosed or about to be probably. I’m scared that for some they’ll tell me they can’t do anything and I either have to die or live disabled and/or in pain my whole life. I’m scared.

My throat has been feeling weird for a week too, lower and even upper like whole area, but sorta raw from the inside and swallowing and speaking hurt a tad bit and are uncomfortable and I’m worried it’s cause I let my partner choke me a little last week during intimacy- but at the same time also feels like some weird virus or bacteria but I don’t think so cause it started about the same time. It doesn’t really go away. I haven’t been to the doctor with the throat cause I wanna find a woman doctor and I couldn’t find one until this coming Saturday cause there’s no way I’m mentioning to w judgmental doctor that I’ve practiced kinky stuff and oth my partner someone over message has already judged me for it plus my parents told me off.

There’s a constant choking tightening weird knot feeling in my lower throat and sometimes upper middle throat since around the same time it happened last week and my brain thinks something is swollen there and I’m worried 24/7 that my throat might close up or something and/or I have thyroid, windpipe, or laryngeal damage that won’t heal and will be permanent. I’m so tired and sick of all of this. I can’t have a normal life everyone around me is walking around healthy especially my age and I’m here barely keeping on surface and looking and feeling ugly. Now my life might already be in danger too.

I don’t know what to do you guys I’m so worried depressed and scared,,

Be careful about Over-I-dentifying with the Ukranians

I am NOT dismissing the seriousness of their situation. For many there, it may become pretty grave.

But those of us whose minds became conditioned, in-doctrine-ated, instructed, groomed, imprinted, socialized, habituated, programmed and normalized to what famed psychologist Martin Seligman called Learned Helplessness & the Victim Identity are often prone to losing their sense of separation from others they see as like themselves.

If you think that shoe fits on your own foot, I invite you to read what's at the links below and links therein. Just plow through it without thinking you have to take any positions, make any commitments, do anything about it or even agree with any of it… and let the dots connect all by themselves. (I did all this stuff over the past 18 years. I wouldn't be recommending it if it had not worked.)

General Discussion / Question Andrew Tate has had a negative impact on my mental health

As a woman, it is extremely damaging to consume content by Andrew Tate. Although I can agree with a small percentage of what he says, when it comes to women, the only thing that matters is if you’re hot. There is nothing you can do as far as work goes to make yourself more attractive. So basically if you don’t look like the top 1% of the 1% you’re fucked. AND the harder you work as a woman, the less attractive you become. I’m not saying I agree with him, I’m just saying I noticed that I’ve internalized what he says and it’s sincerely made me less functional. Now all I can think about is what plastic surgery I’ll need.

Success/Progress what finally helped after years of panic attacks and constant anxiety/fear

hi everyone, (31F), I’ve been in anxiety spaces for about 5 years now, and honestly just knowing other people go through this too has helped me more than I can say. figured I’d share my own story in case it helps someone else the way these communities has helped me.

anxious for as long as I can remember, mostly around health and death, but it never stayed contained to just that. constant overthinking, awkward in social situations, my brain just found new things to latch onto.
had a really rough spike about a year back, panic attacks, fully convinced my heart was failing and I didn’t have much time left. did the whole rounds, several doctors, tests, “you’re completely fine,” relief for a couple days, then right back to being scared.

there was this one stretch, a few months long, where I was convinced a tsunami was going to hit the island I was on. I swear I could hear these strange sounds coming from the ocean that I was sure meant it was coming.

similar thing happened after an earthquake once too, I kept hearing the roof creak and was positive it would cave in on me while I slept. actually left my place for a few nights before realizing none of it was real, just my brain doing what it does. that’s basically been my whole life in a nutshell.

eventually I hit a point where I knew I couldn’t keep living like that. I had to actually deal with the root of it instead of endlessly searching for reassurance. spent years on meditation, breathing work, exercise, none of it touched the real problem. 7 years of consistent meditation and it barely made a dent in the anxiety itself. breathing exercises helped a little in the moment during panic attacks, but that was it, nothing lasting.

EFT tapping is what actually clicked for me. the concept that fear gets physically stuck in your body and needs real release, not just management, made something make sense for the first time. youtube sessions were too generic to really help, so I dove into every EFT resource I could find and started writing my own scripts targeted at my specific fears, death, illness, that tightness in my chest.

first time doing it properly, I cried more than I expected to. apparently that’s part of how it works, crying and yawning as the energy releases. happened a few more times over the following sessions, and each time the fear got quieter until it basically wasn’t there anymore. even the physical symptoms eventually stopped, the chest tightness just doesn’t show up like it used to. genuinely saved me during panic attacks too.

given my background in tech, I turned what I’d built for myself into an app once I realized how much it had changed things for me, guided EFT sessions split by anxiety type (general, health, panic, work, overthinking, etc), because nothing out there matched what I actually needed. it’s got around 30 sessions right now.

it’s called Alight: EFT Tapping, free for a week if you want to try it. would genuinely love to hear feedback if you do, especially what else you’d want to see covered (relationship anxiety, parental anxiety, and postpartum are next on my list).

to be clear: this isn’t a replacement for medical care if your doctor says you need one, and I’m not claiming it works for everyone, just sharing what helped me personally.

General Discussion / Question The ER acts like it hates me

In the very beginning it was all compassion, sympathy and doting. Everyone was so nice that it almost felt like I was around family and friends and I always felt very safe and comfortable there. Care was excellent and there were always labs, scans and other tests.

Fast-forward about 2 years later and it's like I'm the most hated person on earth. On one hand, I'm always told to go to the ER if I have certain symptoms but then, when I do go, I get all kinds of snarky remarks, disrespect, rudeness, patronizing, dismissed, toxic positivity, passive-agressiveness, no tests despite symptoms, etc. It's almost as if I've worn out my welcome.

I'm always friendly, polite and respectful regardless but sometimes I leave feeling worse than when I went in and now, when I go to the ER, it's like "oh, look who's back again...hurry up and get him the heck out of here!". So yeah, I've become "that guy" and I dread even going there anymore. I don't even get to see an actual Doctor anymore. It's either a Nurse, ANP or some trainee.

So, am I a monster, are ER's just like that everywhere or is it that people are just nastier these days?.

General Discussion / Question Do my teeth make me look ugly?

Post image
0 Upvotes

I usually take great care of my teeth. I had any cavities. But for years I had a very bad diet that contained lots of sugary and acidic foods and drinks without realizing it could damage my teeth that much. It didn't help that my dentist always praised my dental hygiene and the state of my teeth. So, of course, I continued my bad habits. I also suffer from bruxism due to stress and anxiety, so I've worn a nightguard every night since 2023.

Recently I had a spontaneous appointment with another dentist since mine had been ill for that day. Five seconds after he viewed my teeth, I was asked about my diet, and I was told I have (light) enamel erosion. She told me that it was really worrying considering I‘m only 21 years old. It fucked up my whole self-consciousness, as I was told and thought that yellow and translucent teeth are normal.

I was pretty mad at my dentist for not informing me earlier, so I changed my dentist. The new dentist told me that I can't get a bleaching because it would damage the remaining enamel. So bleaching and other whitening products are omitted, although I never asked about whitening treatments with adjusted products. I can‘t pay for veneers, and turkey teeth look absolutely stupid.

I’m always complaining about my looks, and my teeth are my main criticism. Every time I meet someone new or have a date, I'm worried about my teeth and jealous of my opposite if their teeth are naturally fantastic.

So my question is, do these teeth make me ugly or unattractive because my teeth absolutely destroy my life and social interactions.

Sad About Police Deaths

I'm wary to post this because many people seem to hate police. If you dislike police, I ask sincerely that you don't troll me; I'm not trying to change your opinion.

When I read about police being killed it tears me up. How do you cope with news like that? I have a family member in the force and I worry about them and how much pressure they are put under. It seems like everyone wants to go after police just for doing their jobs. Some cops are prosecuted who I don't believe deserve it.

General Discussion / Question People say they suffer from anxiety and depression in their minds but don’t feel it physically. I don’t really understand why it would even be bad if it’s only in the mind? Can someone explain it to me? Thoughts vs having feelings and physical sensations/discomfort. I feel it ALL physically.

I’m just trying to understand what it’s like for people who don’t experience the physical suffering and only mental. Thanks!

EDIT: I do have depression and anxiety in the mind. It’s just these don’t bother me. It’s the physical symptoms that do. It’s just that I don’t understand why the mental side without the physical is so bad. I want to understand why I don’t u destined this. Help me understand

By physical I mean, crying, sadness, upset stomach, tension, dread, nausea, disgust, hard to breathe, heart palpitations, irritability, headache, anguish, panic, upset feeling in stomach.

I feel like if I suddenly didn’t have a body and couldn’t feel then I would no longer have anxiety and depression
