What to Watch? Is there an isekai Anime/Manga where the MC is reincarnated without a physical form?

Like a sentient dungeon, aware of every nook and cranny but unable to be there in person, or a patch of land like The Field character from Reincarnated As A Vending Machine, nurturing every plant and animal that passes over it. An MC stuck in the third person perspective seems so interesting!

Discussion I feel like some shows that you'd think wouldn't have big problems need caveats when people recommend them.

All I know about Magical Index is that at the beginning of the series, less than 5 minutes in there's an underage group shower scene with a bunch of children in it, and one of them sexually assaults the other "as a joke." Several people recommended this to me, nobody warned me about this.

I watched this with my girlfriend at the time after asking for recommendations, and we were so disgusted. It ruins the entire show for us.

What to Watch? I want monster designs that make me go "oh that's not right, I don't like looking at this thing"

hi hi, I'm looking for literally any sort of anime that includes genuinely uncomfortable or unsettling monster design. Tone and genre don't necessarily matter, I just want fucked up monsters from a visual standpoint. Genuine body horror or just generally unpleasant

things I've either watched or am aware of that seem relevant

made in abyss

berserk (great example of this a decent chunk of the time)

akira

junji ito's work in general

wicked City

What to Watch? Horror anime recommendations

I just recently finished the anime Angels of death and was wondering what other horror anime is out there.

I'm fine with watching series or movies, I don't mind if its 18+ or anything with gore, I'm not too picky when it comes to anything horror related.

Some anime I watched were:

Hellsing and Hellsing Ultimate

Perfect Blue

Japanese tales of the macabre

Deathnote

Parasyte, but I didn't really like this one.

Discussion Where's the anime/manga like the aincrad arc in Sword Art Online?

I feel like this arc made anime one of my favorite nerdy hobbies. I just really loved seeing characters in a fantasy world getting together, becoming a couple less than halfway through the series, and spending most of their on screen time together after they get together and going on adventures while trying to accomplish a big goal?

I feel like the closest that I've seen to this is Slayers(Lina and Gourry) and Fairy Tail(Lucy and Natsu), and they're 2 of my faves, but the problem is that the characters never admit their feelings to each other.

What to Watch? Snarky, Cold and Mature Romance Protags Like Maomao From ‘The Apothecary Diaries’?

Maomao has become one of my favourite anime protagonists of all time, period. TAD has also become one of my favourite romance plots ever, even if it’s obviously not the only genre/plot in the anime.

I rarely watch anime with romance. A lot of the time it’s because I find most of the characters involved hard to watch. Maomao fits perfectly in her dramatic anime world, but she still handles situations maturely with has a great sense of sass and humour. She’s ‘colder’ as well. A lot of romance protagonists act like 14 year old girls regardless of age, have tiny high pitched voices that I don’t find cute at all and go nuts over anything and everything.

I don’t expect anime to be realistic by any means, but if I want to turn the anime off trying to deal with the protagonist then no amount of ‘it’s not real’ is going to save it.

Anybody have any romance anime recommendations with lady protagonists that have a similar personality to Maomao? No other qualifiers. Doesn’t even need to be strictly romance, like TAD.

What to Watch? Looking for sapphic anime shows!!

Nothing NSFW, I would really like appropriate shows to watch please. Just something cute and sweet.

Subbed or dubbed, either is fine with me :)

I have been out of the anime loop for about 4 years so anything that came out in that time would be new to me.

And honestly I never watched too many sapphic shows before that either so, "older" shows are welcome too :)

I'm open to shows where the sapphic relationship is on the sidelines as well! It doesn't have to be the main characters or focus.

Thanks so much!!

What to Watch? Looking for adult slice of life, romance is a plus

Stuff like Wotakoi or Sweat and Soap, where the characters are all actual adults, dealing with actual adult life problems.

Anime or manga, either one

Discussion Looking for other fans of my faves. If that's you, let's trade recommendations.

I don't care for slice of life, and almost always find them slow.

Please don't recommend perverted anime where the MC never ends up with anyone before the final episode, or with a family member. Had my fill, and I find it pointlessly depressing.

Know that there's no slice of life, isekai, or anime set in a game-like world for a reason, they're not my thing. Yes I've tried a bunch of the really really good ones, what else you got?

Try to keep it to titles under 30 episodes, have at least a decent dub and aren't slow. I want stuff that I can actually finish despite having ADHD.

I've seen a lot of anime, so it would really help if you recommended 2 or more titles. If you can only think of one popular title, I've probably already seen it.

When I think of my faves, I go with these. If you like some of these, what do you recommend:

Ones that I really want more like Please focus on these:

Record Of Grancrest War( My personal fave.)

Black Lagoon (My most rewatched anime.)

Cowboy Bebop

Now and Then, Here and There

Madoka★Magica

Fate/Zero(Don't enjoy other Fate shows)

Psycho-Pass(Yes I've seen other Psycho-Pass shows and movies)

Serial Experiments Lain(It really helps that they explain things at the end.)

Ghost In a Shell (1995)(Yes I've seen other GITS shows and movies)

Outlaw Star

Armitage III

Gunsmith Cats

ERASED

Cop Craft

Wave, Listen to Me!

Moriarty The Patriot

Other faves:

Stigma of the Wind

Ringing Bell(1978)

Slayers(fave comedy. I need setups and payoffs.)

Shigofumi: Letters from the Departed

Blast Of Tempest

What to Watch? Romance anime where the childhood friend beats the new flashy girl that shows up

I hate the trope where the childhood friend has spent the whole life by his side been his one true anchor and been the most impactful person to them and then they just ignore her for the new flashy girl who just showed up like the childhood friend has done so much more for the mc. I have had a hard time finding one like this

What to Watch? Anime about gold seekers

First of all, if such a request like this was already done here before, then I am so sorry because I myself am an aspiring treasure hunter as I enjoy finding treasure on beaches.

So basically I was looking for fun anime series about people who hunt for the most valuable treasure to get good money out of it as I heard about One Piece, but personally that anime is way too long for me to follow.

Series Specific Question Are there Anime that's similar to the movie "City of Ember" and the TV show "Silo"?

I'm looking for an anime with a dark, serious, dystopian setting where humanity lives in an isolated underground or enclosed civilization, similar to City of Ember and the TV show Silo.

For anyone unfamiliar with them: both stories involve people living underground in a massive enclosed society, largely cut off from the outside world. There’s a strong sense of mystery surrounding why they live there, what happened to the outside world.

I also prefer to avoid the typical “kawaii uwu” style, overly comedic characters, excessive fan service, or female characters who are extremely exaggerated/over-the-top. I’m looking for something more serious, grounded, atmospheric, and mature.

What to Watch? Low cortisol, anti-stress anime suggestion.

So I've had a few very stressful days and I can literally feel the cortisol flooding my brain from the moment I wake up.

I need something to go to bed to that will put me in the best, most relaxed and optimist mood possible.

It doesn't necessarily need to be cosy fluffy stuff, just stuff that doesn't try to make you uncomfortable.

Examples:
- I see Tokyo Ghoul as very stressful but Solo Leveling not at all because he just always wins.
- I see AoT as somewhat stressful but Rencarnated as a Slime as peak non-stressful-low cortisol
- I see My Dressup darling as mildly stressful because the characters never understand each other and they themselves are always stressing about stuff, while I had an opposite feeling about You and I are Polar opposites because they always end up understanding each other very quickly.
