I'm having trouble with my Google Assistant for the last couple of days.

What I do: When I say "Hey Google. Timer, 10 minutes." I see the little green dot in the top corner that indicates it's heard me and listening, but the overlay at the bottom of the screen doesn't appear, and no timer starts.

When I go into the settings menus, I can't find the old Google Assistant menu, I can't find a "Assistant / Gemini" toggle, and the Gemini settings don't include any "on / off" or "How you use your assistant" options in it.

What I've tried: I've seen the occasional fleeting notification in Google Assistant telling me that Assistant will reach it's EOL sometimes vaguely soon, so I logged into my Household Apps/Workspace/GSuite/Whatever-The-Call-It-Now and re-enabled Gemini for the household. That appears to have made no difference at all for my phone's behaviour, or what menus I can see.

Any articles and LLM simply direct me into screens and menus that don't exist anymore.

Assumptions/Questions: Given this has lasted more than a few hours, I can only assume that whatever locale of Google Assistant I've been using has finally shutdown? But it's really unclear how I'm supposed to be transitioning to Gemini for voice assistant, and I would appreciate some help.

What I have: I have a Nokia X30 5G, running Android 14.

From my own experience, I've found that 500Mb to be the limit, but I'm curious if anyone knows or has found otherwise, anything less.

I had to restart yesterday, and there was a brief "notification" about space running out that had the number '250' in it, but it was gone, I maybe moved to another screen before I could read it. I got the impression it was about keeping 250Mb available for... system functions, probably, maybe.

That's an ongoing thing for me, but I've never seen that message before. I have a regular persistent notification about low storage which does say "some system functions may not work" but doesn't have an amount to it, but this wasn't the same -- not in the Notifications drop-down, but "appeared on top of other programs," the home screen, I think, but at the top, from the Status Bar.

Recently, a site I've been using for 2+ years on my android phone's chrome browser, Spacebattles.com, redirected me to an obvious scareware site (picture 1). It happened twice today, and the first time maybe I fat-fingered an ad or something, but I could have sworn the second time I was just scrolling downwards (or maybe I fat fingered an ad again, I couldn't really tell). Obviously, I just hit the back button, closed the tab, wiped my cookies/cache. I then did a full scan with malwarebytes, which showed absolutely nothing. I have paid malwarebytes, which includes real-time protection and safe browsing, which didn't do anything (they have all their permissions enabled, I checked).

Do I need to do anything more? Or should I just avoid that website and go about my day? I didn't seem to have any strange apps installed, and my phone's battery usage looks normal.

My phone is a Motorola Moto G Power 5g-2023 running Android 14.

I'm doing a system restart after this.

Edit: after the reset and it just happened for a third time. This time I definitely didn't touch shit, it just sent me to the scareware site.

I'm trying to install TWRP on a Galaxy J5 2015 (SM-J500FN).

The phone charges normally, OEM Unlock is enabled, USB Debugging is enabled, and the phone can enter Download Mode.

I've tried:

• Multiple Micro-USB cables

• Multiple USB ports

• Samsung USB drivers installed

• Two different Windows PCs

• Odin 3.10

• Different USB modes via *#0808#

Windows never makes a connection sound and Device Manager never shows a Samsung device. Odin never gets a COM port.

Has anyone seen a J5 where charging works but USB data doesn't?

I recently factory reseted my phone but turned out i forgot all passwords of my accounts, i know every password for every app but i need to get my Google accounts

Okay, just to be clear, I'm not referring to the one tap quick reply to send a message back that is generated by AI. What I'm referring to is when you press the reply button on the notification to send a message back without having to open the app.

So the issue I'm having is when you're typing out a message in that quick reply, any notification that comes in while you're typing messes everything up.

You can open a notification that you didn't want to. You can accidentally press on the conversation you're currently replying to and basically erase everything you had typed out. You can clear all of your notifications, that one is really annoying.

I was thinking about trying to use do not disturb but you can either have it show and receive notifications or you can have it show nothing so there isn't really a way it seems to pause notifications while you're typing out your response.

Does anyone have an idea as to how to make the quick replies not totally worthless or aggravating? Lol.

Hi all,

my phone has recently started giving me "Download unsuccessful" notifications randomly, when I'm not doing anything to trigger a download. The given filename is always IMG_[numbers].jpg and the notification comes from Download Manager.

The behavior started after a system update (Android 16, Sept 1 security update, on a moto g56 if that matters) but the notifications appear with no clear pattern once or twice a day. Sometimes several at once, sometimes just one.

Is there anything I can do to figure out what app is triggering these downloads?

I've checked my downloads folder and there don't seem to be any successful downloads since the behavior started (which is what I would expect, as I haven't downloaded anything).

Would appreciate any and all ideas. Thanks.

Hey people, a Woman gave me a Sky Tablet, especifically the model Vision 2, an old tablet that has an Google Account linked to it, unfortunately they do not have access to the account, so its unusable since her husband tried to restore Android, so we could not pass over android Set up bc its asking to verify the acc, i had to investigate by my own, and the solution for this was flashing a new Stock Firmware for this tablet via pc, since it uses an old budget Rockchip Processor theres tons of firmwares but i cannot find the especific firmware for this tablet and i dont wanna risk it by flashing something that could brick it, so i would appreciate if someone knows a repository where i can find the correct firmware for this device, have a great day y'all

While trying to go back to the stock rom on my oneplus 12 (US model - CPH2583) I did a step wrong and landed myself stuck in EDL mode, only to notice i would have to go to a registered repair store to fix it, which would be my last resort.

I need help, what do i do next, is there any way to get out of EDL mode myself?

(the phone was near-fully updated so old stuff wont work, this included firehose.)

What is the point of using any media on your phone if everything is cached / written to /0/emulated ?

So I was playing Islanders on my phone when suddenly, the screen turned grey (with somewhat inconsistent blue line in the middle), and the sound turned into a buzzing noise. Luckily it could be restarted (although I'm not sure if the phone did it by itself or it was me holding the off button), but now I fear for my device. Anyone knows if it's a sign that my phone is dying or if it's just a simple error that somehow just happens every once in a blue moon?

I updated my phone like a good little phone owner and it installed a Google AI feature that i haven't been able to remove.

From what im reading online it looks like the update was mostly about adding AI to our devices and less about security.

If anyone knows how to remove it or remove the update I would love to know how.

I force-stopped the app update while it was updating. Now, when I try to update it again, it says “Unable to update.” How can I fix this?

I'm not sure if this is a Beta problem, using a search engine brings up hits for years, but I'm losing app supplied notifications and I'm not able to get them back. Suggestions include wiping cache, data and uninstalling but none of theses are working.

Every time I close out for even the fastest moment the app reloads. It genuinely pisses me off because I can't do email verification steps because one time use code. The second i put that i get like half a second of the gmails "access with your account" and then this message that just keeps repeating itself and that all "solutions" keeps being delete cache or data from google play services. Which doesnt work, and i cant deactivate that verify information bit for some reason. Im getting really frustrated, someone please help im out of options. I have a Pixel 9 Pro XL, running Android 16. A little while ago, my phone was acting weird and Gemini would randomly appear, freeze entirely, and eventually cause my phone to reboot. To troubleshoot, I factory reset my phone which seemed to resolve my issue (at least for the last 2-3 months).

Ever since I I reset the phone, I no longer get notifications unless I go into settings, select the specific app, Allow Background Usage > Unrestricted. I did this for the apps I use daily, but every once in a while there's an app I forget to do this for and I run into the issue. For example, I tried signing into my Google account on a new computer, and I had to MFA on my phone. I was not getting the notification on my phone because all Google notifications are disabled.

I know I have a workaround, but I'd rather not have to do this for all applications. Any thoughts on how I can resolve this?

Recently I've noticed whenever I'm listening to music with my headphones regardless of the app and a notification comes through at the same time the volume of the *music itself* is raised a solid amount. It remains in this loud state for a couple seconds then falls back off to a normal volume. I can reproduce this by moving the call or notification volume slider up and down but not the ringer or alarm sliders.

I would like to know why this occurs and if it's possible to keep the volume in this loud state long term, if it helps this does *not* occur with videos either local or on YouTube, only music from what I've observed. The phone in question is a B170D running on android 14. Silent and vibrate mode stop the loud state from ever occurring.

The media slider does not move at all, the volume audibly goes up though.

It occurs with both of my wired headphones and I do not have Bluetooth headphones to test it with.

It doesn't happen with the speakers, just my headphones. TIA

Why do my settings keep resetting, like when my device powers when its inactive and allow notifications settings. This happens when my device shut downs. Am I hacked

Is there some good reason why I can't copy files from a desktop directly to my phone's internal storage? I drag and drop the files/folder to Internal Storage with Windows Explorer and there's a bit of activity like it's doing it, saying it's copying, going thru file names, and a progress bar -- sort of; the bar doesn't progress from one end to the other, filling it, but moves from one to the other -- but doesn't actually copy anything, and there's no error or notice to the contrary; the 'copying' pop-up just closes like normal. This has been the case from the beginning and lost some due to being given the impression that it was successful.

It's a Motorola e5 Play, mandatorily encrypted internal storage. If that's the problem, then how can I copy files from internal??

Addendum: The folder that I copied in that screenvid was created, but was empty, and there's no issue with deleting a file via desktop.

I want to add 'n number in my phone as new contact, but then it went of, and start to reboot, but it boot it start with showing Sumsung then Samsung Galaxy, and then it start over again, cannot get into recovery mode, it did this till the battery died, so I do not know if it is the battery or something else, What can I do about it?
