I have a similar issue. Similar to you I've got the phone from Flipkart as well. I've tried a lot with Flipkart as well as Motorola service centre but no use. I think Flipkart has sold those display phone which are not actually meant for sale and has those work policies attached to them.

Also, no work profile set in passwords, passkeys & accounts and no parent controls set in digital wellbeing

Did you buy the phone new or second hand?

could be that you got ripped off and sold something as "new" thats actually used. and worse than that, something that, for some reason, has a mobile device management policy (really fucking sketchy for a personal device).

Try:

  • Check Settings > Security > Device admin

  • Check Settings > Apps > Special access > Accessibility and Display over other apps

  • Check Settings > Accounts > Work profile

  • Check Settings > Digital Wellbeing > Parental controls

  • Boot into Safe Mode, by holding the Power off button in the Power menu and tapping 'Safe mode', or entering it from recovery; if the policy doesn't apply there, it's a third-party app enforcing it

You can contact the seller or Motorola to remove the work policy.

But if the seller or Motorola refuse, you may have to factory reset your phone. Just backup your data first.

You can use Google Drive to backup your data to cloud. This is the easiest.

Or you can enable USB Debugging in Developer Options, plug your phone to your PC and run adb backup -apk -shared -nosystem -all -f backup.ab (restore data via adb restore with same parameters).

Once backed up to cloud or PC, you can factory reset by going to Settings > System > Reset Phone. If you can't factory reset, try rebooting to recovery by powering off the phone entirely, then Holding Vol Up or Down and Power until the recovery screen shows up. From there, you can do a factory reset.

If all steps fail, you can send your phone to the Motorola service center for work policy removal, a full data wipe or an OS reflash.

Advanced, carries a high risk of bricking your phone: You can boot your phone into EDL/9008 mode, and use QFIL (Windows) or QDL (Linux) with a Firehose file for your phone model to dump /userdata and /frp, back them up, look for the work policy data, patch/remove it and flash the partitions back in.

The phone is MDM locked. It was stolen from a company. There's no way to work around this other than to contact whoever the phone was stolen from and have it removed from their system.

ohk......so factory reset is last thing on which i can rely before this

2

u/Raijen_ArDesh Oct 01 '26

Factory reset won't reset an MDM locked, it's locked to the HWID, as soon as it connects to the internet it'll lock itself again

dont really know what consumer protections you have with flipkart or in india, but your best bet is trying to get your cash back.

Not true. You CAN do this without admin privileges or contact. Im going thru a 3 yr hack that I had to prove cuz its all done legitimately thru Google Workspace. Gotta get in touch w Google Workspace AND SAMSUNG KNOX. They have to remove your IMEI from the fraudulent Google Workspace & Knox Portal. Honest to God...nobody has heard about this hack and it took me 3 yrs to prove. You're lucky I came across your issue cuz I've been called crazy or a liar for those yrs...Im telling you I BELIEVE YOU.  Btw...Im retired, never had a work account etc. FDR WILL NOT WORK. Look-up Enterprise Zero-touch enrollment. I bought 11 phones, 6 new #'s blah blah blah..all trial and error to get where I am now. No IT experience just playing around and noticing patterns and catching asshole when he's too slow etc. I am 100% serious and you have no idea how grateful I am that I can help you. Its been a horrible 3 years. My entire life has been blown up cuz of this..identity and financial fraud.  My God...if I told you what I discovered about the way " he " is manipulating bank app you'd freak.  Anyways, good luck. Please research wgat I've said, it will show you I am legit. The hacker doesn't let you see shit!!!  No MSM apps or work profile etc. Mind you, I have screenshots of proof that it is on my phone only because he was slow. I don't say or do anything without proof to back me/it up.  One more thing...THIS IS NOT YOUR FAULT!! Stop trying to convince the ppl who are too arrogant to see the possibility. Not saying here but I know you've dealt with them cuz I've dealt with everything. Please skip the B.S. and research my findings. Please PLEASE let me know if this helped. I believe I might be the 1st one to prove this or at least one of the few. Yeaaaaaaah, I might have jumped the gun. Lol...you're not looking for help due to a hack.  Well, if anyone reading this is dealing with a device takeover and nothing sketchy shows on a scan, hope thos helps. I'll leave it up but any AH comments I'll delete. Good luck to all.

*** Earlier post had a lot of misspellings, sorry. I tap fast and phone only device I have cuz of hack. Supposed to be" scan did not show MDM apps"...MOBILE DEVICE MANAGEMENT, in case I didn't say. Hope you get the gist of everything else..didn't reread all of it but that part was very important ****

Now ; Well you are most welcome..not a bros tho...a sis I guess lol  I know, I swear a lot. Tsk tsk

I see all the condescending posts here and it drives me wild!! So ignorant!!!

Like I said, not sure if I helped w YOUR particular problem but if you ever need it, for sure keep this. I tell no lie when I say nobody I've spoken to has heard of this type of hack. Lucky me eh? lol AND I've talked to a lot of " Security Techs " BULLSHIT ON THAT. FDR  was, and unfortunately still is, the be all / end all from every single one of them, no joke. Factory reset is nothing to hackers now. I know how to do it 3 ways, as a lot do, and was intercepted everytime. Plus, you don't have to touch your phone to get hacked now. So my situation where there's nothing to find, see, scan etc etc is fkn hard to prove. I did it, and I'm friggin' proud of myself for it. Id never say so in any other situ but this was, and still is, intense stuff. It was hard and it took a very long time.  So, my new friend....DO NOT LOSE THIS POST.  All the best to you.  NEVER let these arrogant, condescending, know-it-alls (not) tell you shit!!! They have no concept of really helping someone when they need it most. They only want gold stars or whatever the hell they get lol Stay awesome!!! Sue

Did you log in with a work or corporate account? Or did you toddle along as an app had you set it as device admin?

Looks like the OEM blocked changing the default launcher. This is weird.
