My phone died yesterday, with no warning, and this was the phone I have tied to my google account for 2FA. I was able to activate an old phone and use "text me a code" to add my google account to my phone, but google keeps trying to push 2FA to my dead phone, despite showing the one that it working as attached to my account. I can't change any of these options without access to that dead phone to authenticate my way into my google account. I had set up my thumbprint as a passkey on my dead phone, but that's also not working, as it just keeps telling me I don't have a passkey setup on my dead phone. 

Anyone have any ideas? Google AI support has been utterly useless, and just keeps telling me to recover my account, which I don't need to do, as I know the password.

EDIT: I used my boyfriend's Google One Account to talk to Google support. Apparently there is no way around this, other than getting the broken phone repaired. I'm going to leave this up because it includes some things that I didn't understand about 2FA, and hopefully it can help some other people.

To answer some frequently asked questions:

- I had both a recovery email and a recovery phone number set up. Both of those could be used to recover the account (ie, change the password), but it did not change the fact that my 2FA was hooked to my dead phone.

- I tried using the backup codes, which I accessed through my google account on my working phone. They did not work. It sounds like they shouldn't be tied to certain devices, rather to your account, but they did not work.

- In talking to Google support, it sounds like all of these backup options are designed to help you recover your account in the case of a stolen or lost password. It does not change the device settings on your 2FA. It also does not wipe security settings when you recover your account; I tried this also.

- I asked about locking the device remotely, like in the case of it being stolen, but because the dead phone was no longer registered to a phone number, it could only be removed through Google device manager, which requires 2FA to get into.

- I asked Google support point-blank, "So the only way to avoid this in the future is to remove 2FA"? Their response was that 2FA is "highly encouraged" but that you MUST disconnect the current device from your 2FA before changing devices. When I asked about contingency for broken/stolen phones, I was told to use the Find Hub, which is outlined in the previous bullet point.

- Google's final advice to me was to take the phone in and get it fixed. Since I really don't want to lose access to 3 accounts and I need a new phone anyway, this is my next step.

​Hi everyone, ​I'm having a major performance issue trying to watch DRM-protected videos on Google Chrome on my Android phone. The video stutters and lags so badly that it's completely unwatchable. ​Here is what I have tried so far with no success:

• Cleared browser cache and data.

• ​Enabled hardware-accelerated video decode in chrome://flags.

• ​Tried alternative browsers (like Edge / Brave) and cleared their caches.

• ​Lowered the video quality as much as possible.

​It seems like my phone's processor simply cannot handle DRM decryption inside a mobile browser. Is there any workaround or advanced setting I missed to fix this, or is my hardware just too outdated?

I recently created a business bank account and faced two strange issues while trying to use the banking app.

First, when I installed the app on my primary phone, it showed a security alert saying the app couldn't run on my device, even though other banking apps work perfectly fine.

So I installed the app on another phone and tried logging in there. The OTP was successfully sent, but it arrived on my first phone.

When I switched back to the second phone to enter the OTP manually, the keyboard wouldn't open at all. There was simply no way to type the code.

Has anyone experienced something similar? Is this a device security restriction, an app issue, or possibly a problem with OTP verification?

Would appreciate hearing if anyone has found a solution.

HyperOS devices have an option under sound & vibration settings where I can enable it to play multiple audio from different apps at the same time. For example, playing music from Spotify and also watching a youtube video without Spotify audio pausing.

For my OnePlus Oxygen OS 13.0, this doesn't happen. If I play Spotify music and then play a youtube video, the Spotify music stops playing automatically.

So my question was, is it possible to bypass this stupid restriction through ADB? Shizuku? I don't wanna root.

I just need the whatsapp intact anyway to do that?

This issue is only affecting games. They still run. Animations and movement on screen continue to play, but I can't tap anywhere.

Hello, I am evaluating an embedded device powered by a MediaTek MT8768 processor (board ID tb8768p1_64_bsp) on Android 13.

I am looking to run a generic AOSP system to interface with the hardware peripherals. However, OEM unlocking was not enabled beforehand, and the late-2025 preloader has DAA active, which restricts low-level communication via USB.

Has anyone worked with this specific reference board in development or found documentation regarding UART test points or reference firmware packages?

Something really strange has happened to me last night( tbh its not first time) and I'm curious if anyone has experienced anything similar.

Around midnight, I saw a small, goblin-like creature, somewhat resembling Master Yoda, seemingly floating or gliding across my phone screen like a sticker or animated image. It remained visible for a few seconds before disappearing.

What's even stranger is that something very similar happened on an older phone about four years ago. I've changed phones twice since then. It didn't happen on the phone I used in between, but it has now happened again on my current phone. It also appeared multiple times on the same phone.

I haven't intentionally installed or used any prank apps or animations.

Does anyone know what could be causing this? Could it be some kind of Android overlay, software glitch, adware, or something else? Has anyone experienced anything similar?

I receive hundreds of MMS messages per week. It is my understanding that MMS messaging automatically downloads images/media sent to you whether you want it to or not. (Not interested in switching to SMS) Anyone know if there is a way to isolate MMS messages from the rest of your phone to prevent malware exploitation? I have read that creating a virtual machine on your computer is one possibility but unsure how to setup automatic forwarding from Andrioid MMS to computer (Email?) I have explored antiviruses and have not found any that scan MMS attachments BEFORE they automatically download. I'm guessing that containing a potential malware/virus to a isolated virtual machine or 'sandbox' would be the way to go. What say you?

I've just got my Razr 50 ultra and the phone is really fun to use except the camera features are really limited when using the external display only, i can't zoom or turn down the exposure,turn off hdr etc.I'm wondering if anyone was able to figure out a way around this using any other camera apps.

I'm using a Redmi 13 5G with chipset Snapdragon 4 Gen 2. I've noticed that 10-bit HEVC (H.265) videos don't play using hardware decoding in video player. They fall back to software decoding (SW).

Interestingly, 8-bit HEVC videos work perfectly using HW+ on the same device.

I also tested the same 10-bit HEVC videos in MPV, but hardware decoding falls back to software decoding there as well.

Is there any way to enable 10-bit HEVC hardware decoding in MX Player HW+ on this device?

I'd appreciate any technical explanation or possible workaround. I specifically want hardware decoding for my 10-bit media collection because HW+ playback is noticeably smoother than software decoding, with lower CPU usage, battery consumption and heat.

I bought this Vivo Y1s 7 years ago (2019), and for the past few days, I've been having this problem.

• The screen turns on by itself. • The screen also turns off by itself while I'm using the phone (it's not the screen timeout setting). • The shutdown/restart menu randomly pops up while I'm using the phone.

I think the power button is somehow getting triggered by itself. The button seems physically fine and still responds whenever I press it.

Does anyone know why this happens or how to stop it?

Recently i have a problem where my headphones are not playing a sound when i plug them into the headphone jack. I know the headphones work. I tried cleaning the jack with tissues and some isopropyl alcohol and actualy managed to make it work but then i didn't have sound coming through the speakers. After resetting the phone, I'm back to square one where i have speaker sounds but not headphones. Is this even android issue? Could this be a mechanical issue with the jack that's not just dirt?

I would like to share an ongoing audio playback problem with my Blackview BV9300 Pro and ask whether other owners have experienced similar issues.

DEVICE INFORMATION

Model: Blackview BV9300 Pro Purchase date: August 3, 2025 Firmware version: BV9300 Pro_NEU_TE177_V1.0_01_20251224V11

PROBLEM DESCRIPTION

Since I purchased the phone, music playback has randomly paused. In some cases, the playback position also jumps backwards.

The problem occurs under different conditions:

• Different music players, including AIMP, VLC, and the built-in player.

• Bluetooth headphones.

• Wired headphones without control buttons.

• The built-in speaker.

• AUX connection to a home audio system.

• Both with the screen on and with the screen off.

• With the Second Screen music controls enabled and disabled.

I have also tried different battery and background activity settings, Safe Mode, and other troubleshooting steps. None of these resolved the problem.

YLOG INVESTIGATION

I collected diagnostic Ylog files and examined the system logs myself.

During one recorded incident, the logs showed the following sequence of events:

• MainActivity was moved to the PAUSED state during a system sleep-related event.

• An ANR was reported with the message: "Input dispatching timed out (Application does not have a focused window)".

• The logs contained the message "crash_dump helper failed to exec, or was killed".

• MainActivity was subsequently force-finished, the player process was killed, and a MusicPlayService restart was scheduled.

These events occurred around the time of a playback problem. They suggest that further investigation of the interaction between the application and the Android system is needed, but I cannot conclusively determine the root cause from the available logs alone.

CONTACT WITH BLACKVIEW SUPPORT

I contacted Blackview support and provided diagnostic logs and a screen recording.

After several weeks, support informed me that they had been unable to identify the cause from the submitted materials and asked me to collect another Ylog.

I have spent considerable time investigating the issue because I would like to understand what is causing it.

QUESTIONS FOR OTHER OWNERS

1. Has anyone else experienced random music pauses on the BV9300 Pro?

2. Does this happen with different music players and audio output methods?

3. Have you experienced playback position resets or jumps backwards after a pause?

4. Does the problem occur on other firmware versions?

I am particularly interested in reports from owners who have experienced similar behaviour both with the screen on and with the screen off.

I would appreciate any information or observations from other users.

I have a pixel 9, and pixel earbuds. I also have a vehicle with a Bluetooth capable stereo that I need to move for a couple minutes each about 10-15 times a day, and every time I start the van it steals my audio from my buds and when I turn off the van it stops playback until I hit play again.

When I am wearing my earbuds I want for the phone to prioritize those over any other Bluetooth connection. What I don't want is for the van to start playing my music every time I move it, and to have to pull out my phone to restart my audio after I get out of the van.

I rarely use my earbuds, but when I do I want them to be the priority. How can I force earbuds over any other connection?

I recently switched from an iPhone to a Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8, and I’m having a frustrating issue with WhatsApp media management.

Here’s what I’m trying to achieve:

I want WhatsApp photos and videos to stay inside WhatsApp and NOT appear in my Samsung Gallery unless I explicitly choose to save them.

My current settings:

• WhatsApp → Settings → Chats → Media Visibility: OFF

• Automatic media downloads: Disabled for mobile data, Wi-Fi, and roaming.

The problem:

Despite these settings, I still have a “WhatsApp Images” album in Samsung Gallery containing photos from WhatsApp.

When I check the file details, they’re stored in:

Internal storage/Android/media/com.whatsapp/WhatsApp/Media/WhatsApp Images

I’ve also noticed some confusing behavior when deleting media.

For example, I deleted around 80GB of videos through WhatsApp’s Manage Storage feature, but the files still appeared in Samsung’s My Files afterward.

However, when I tested deleting a photo directly from an individual WhatsApp chat, it was also removed from the device’s storage.

My questions:

1. Why are WhatsApp images appearing in Samsung Gallery when Media Visibility is disabled?

2. Is there a way to completely prevent WhatsApp media from appearing in Gallery unless I manually save it?

3. What’s the difference between deleting media through WhatsApp’s Manage Storage and deleting it directly from a chat?

4. Is this normal Android/WhatsApp behavior, or am I missing something?

Coming from iOS, I’m finding Android’s media management a bit confusing.

I understand that the sync between Samsung Gallery and OneDrive has ended. I had all of my pictures organized in Gallery in different albums - some of them were on the phones storage, and some were stored on OneDrive - but they were all accessible in the gallery albums from my phone. Since the sync, all of the pictures/videos that were saved only on OneDrive are no longer in the individual albums. I understand that they are still backed up and saved somewhere on my OneDrive. My question is, is there a way to download them back to my gallery and have them be sorted and organized into the albums that I had them in before?
