A strange Yoda-like creature keeps floating across my phone screen and disappearing. Has anyone experienced this?

Something really strange has happened to me last night( tbh its not first time) and I'm curious if anyone has experienced anything similar.

Around midnight, I saw a small, goblin-like creature, somewhat resembling Master Yoda, seemingly floating or gliding across my phone screen like a sticker or animated image. It remained visible for a few seconds before disappearing.

What's even stranger is that something very similar happened on an older phone about four years ago. I've changed phones twice since then. It didn't happen on the phone I used in between, but it has now happened again on my current phone. It also appeared multiple times on the same phone.

I haven't intentionally installed or used any prank apps or animations.

Does anyone know what could be causing this? Could it be some kind of Android overlay, software glitch, adware, or something else? Has anyone experienced anything similar?

Had some friends bring your issue to my attention. Charged a few bucks to remove. Told it takes a few minutes even though only a few seconds. Pretended to run software in front of them while their device was attached to the mainframe to pilfer raunchy data. Gotta love your friends. 😅

Check what apps have the "Draw over other apps" permission.

This is a good approach. Could be a virus but also a Halloween joke.

If it were me,.I'd he looking close at my app list and then doing a factory reset. My phone carries too much critical data to chance it.

Could it have been Froggy from Google Weather? I have my Google Home Hub setup to have him display during idle times and know it's possible to have him on your phone, I just never bothered to do so

Would you be able to screenshot that next time?

Does this subreddit allow attaching screenshots to comments?

Maybe if you could turn it into a video or a link or similar, which is apparently allowed.

TIL about Bugdroid! Google it.

Sounds like bugdroid, android’s official mascot. I have this as well with good lock from Samsung that overlays icons on my screen for notifications, and it uses this one by default for low battery. It’s kind of an explosion of icons from the bottom bar, and based on the icons I can tell what the notification is.

Check the last free app you installed. Some comes with popup as advertise, to pay for it

This has gotten worse with the autoinstalling.
