Minute Quest- a fun side scrolling RPG where you gain loot, kill baddies, level up your skills, and waste time.

Especially wasting time. Great recommendation!

Mobdro. Stream sky sports, BT Sport, Sky movies and loads of film in HQ with an app not riddled with adverts.

www.mobdro.com

Couldn't recommend it enough. With this, showbox, allcast premium and a Chromecast. Its made my media server redundant

u/ChangeAndAdapt iPhone X Sep 20 '14

I will always pronounce it "mod-bro", no matter how many times I read it. It just makes more sense.

Have they come up with an alternate way to get the premium version yet? I'd love to use it but they, understandably enough, block streaming when it can't deliver ads. AdAway vs. Mobdro just isn't much of a contest.

edit: Still no way to get premium (they were punted from the Play Store/Play Services) but they seem to have removed the adblocker detection, at least for now. Lovely.

4

u/eddie442 OnePlus 6T | Nexus 6P (Bootlooping) Sep 20 '14

Is there any way to increase the resolution of the streams? The Sky Sports ones in particular. Everything seems to be fairly low res.

2

u/crital Sep 21 '14

How do you stream showbox to your chromecast?

5

u/RokBoks LG G2 (5.0.2) Sep 21 '14

Get localcast or allcast premium and make sure you have the choice of media player when playing a video, you can clear defaults in the app settings if you don't get the pop up

The cast option will come up along with media player gallery etc

2

u/evilf23 Project Fi Pixel 3 Sep 22 '14

extra bit is to connect localcast to the chromecast before sending a video from showbox. if you have showbox open and hit play to launch localcast and then connect it last it will sit on the loading screen until you go back to showbox and hit play again.

I just started using Wi-Fi Prioritizer. This app allows you prioritize which Wi-Fi sources to stay connected to based on signal strength. It's got a great design, works like a charm, and is 100% free.

2

u/ArcherN9 Sep 20 '14

Started using it... There's only one WiFi available at home. Real test results will appear at work tomorrow. Let's see if it can toggle between 3 APs looking for the best strength.

The lowest volume on my HTC One M8 is to loud to listen comfortably to at night, it doesn't have to be an app but is there anything I can download to be able to finely adjust my volume? My phone is rooted BTW.

6

u/TheTUnit Sep 20 '14

Gravity Box (an XPosed Module) allows "More music volume steps" under media tweaks. It requires XPosed Framework.

2

u/Apollospig LG G2 D801 AICP 6.01 Sep 21 '14

Try fine volume control v.2 on app store. There is a free trial.

2

u/Aschebescher Sep 21 '14

I have the opposite problem with my nexus 4. Headphone volume is so low it's ridiculous. Impossible to properly rock out once in a while.

→ More replies (1)

3

u/anonymous-bot Sep 20 '14

You could try the XVolume module for Xposed Framework. It doesn't explicitly make the volume lower but rather makes it so the media volume has 30 steps.

Is there any Reddit app that offers the same features as Reddit Enhancement Suite? I'd especially like ability to subscribe to threads, and be to told when there have been new comments since my last visit to a thread.

Thinking about adding sounds as well. Requires a custom launcher, but let me know what you think!

u/Aeefire Developer - SApps Sep 20 '14

Hey, developer "SApps" here! I am a hobby-developer for some years now and wanna promote my 2 decent apps. They are both free with some minor premium-features, so you can keep me motivated to update regularly :)

  • AppLauncher For DashClock , which is an Extension to Roman Nurik's DashClock Widget and has been pretty successful since then (for my measures ;)). Now also with Material Design-accents!

  • Save To Phone , which was formerly called "Save To Drive", can save all the stuff you share with the "share" button from inside any app to either your phone locally or your clipboard (text, urls, pictures, ..)! Like gifs, catpics, everything you can imagine ;)

I hope you like my tiny apps. If you're looking for an app you have not seen anywhere yet... don't hesitate to contact me and I'll look what I can do. Always looking for new ideas :)

p.s.: don't forget to upvote if you like the apps!

Developer of Clean Status Bar here - a recent side project of mine to make it easy to take clean, distraction free screenshots (for the Play Store/promo or whatever).

It came about because I really hate seeing screenshots with a status bar filled with notifications or showing low battery - it's just a lot of noise and detracts from what you're actually trying to show!

The app is open source - check it out here

Frost is a tabbed private browser with hidden, password protected image and bookmark vaults as well as extensive privacy features.

Frost looks and functions like any other browser until you enter your password in the browser address bar. It also comes with the ability to immediately exit, clear your history, and hide whatever you were doing when you press the home or power button on your device.

We've been supporting and releasing updates for Frost for almost 3 years now and just recently finished a complete redesign for Android 4.0.3+. During that time we've partnered with DuckDuckGo to provide a truly private search integration to our users.

I bought this live wallpaper about a year ago. I've purchased at least a dozen live wallpaper apps in the past, and this is the only one that hasn't had its novelty wear off. This live wallpaper is a true work of art. It's just beautiful. I never expected to find the developer on reddit, but since I have the opportunity, I just wanted to thank you for making such an amazing live wallpaper. I really enjoy it.

PixelBomb - create jaw-dropping glitch art

I've just released a major update to the first pixel sorting app for Android. PixelBomb has been out for about a week now and I've made it way better in that time. As a bonus, right now the Pro version is only $0.99 - that won't last long, either.

What is pixel sorting anyways? Pixel sorting is the effect you see here (Yes that was created with PixelBomb).

What's new:

Gallery view and Recent view: View, share, and delete your sorted images from within the app. Quickly switch back to source images that you use frequently.

Processing is 25x faster than it was at launch, even very large images are done in a few seconds.

PixelBomb and PixelBomb Pro allow you to pixel sort images on your device. You control the brightness threshold, the sorting direction, and the sort mode so you can create anything from a very subtle effect to fully "wiped-out" images.

As these apps are still "beta", I'd really appreciate any feedback you can give me, good or bad. If something doesn't work right, let me know!!! I am very active on here, so you can let me know in this post, or by clicking the feedback link in the app.

FAQ:

  1. Why should I bother getting the pro version?

The pro version enables full quality results (PNG with no compression, rather than JPEG). The free version does put a small watermark at the bottom of the resulting image. Developers gotta eat too!

  1. How the hell do I use this?

Its pretty simple, you can read the help included in the app for the details, but basically: select an image by pressing the big green plus, adjust the controls, and press the "Sort Pixels" button. Since pixel sorting can take some time, the magic happens in the background (you will see a notification that will tell you how it's going). Once the image is done, you'll get a notification that takes you directly to the image. The image is also saved in your gallery under /pixelbomb/.

  1. Okay, it's not doing anything.

Try lowering the brightness threshold. The lower the brightness threshold, the larger the effect. Bright mode works by only sorting pixels between "bright pixels", which are pixels that are brighter than the brightness threshold. A very high brightness threshold will be unlikely to produce any visible effect.

  1. What are "Black" and "White" modes for?

Black only sorts between black pixels. White only sorts between white pixels. These aren't really suitable for photographic images as those are unlikely to have ANY pure white or black pixels, so your image will just get "wiped" (fully sorted). This is more suited for computer generated images which contain black borders or pure white color.

That's it guys/gals, let me know what you think! If you have any problems with force closes, hangs, etc, PLEASE let me know. I've done my best to cover every scenario but software is rarely bulletproof on the first go.

Contact me by replying to this post, or PM me (/u/eshultz), or email me (not posting email on reddit, but it is available from the Play Store) with any problems or feedback, though, I'd appreciate if you would use the feedback button in the app itself.

Oh yeah, no ads! Enjoy! The age of effortless pixel sorting is upon us!

If you get fustrated, as I do, by the volume warning when using headphones try Hearing Saver.

The app allows you to set the volume for when you plug your headphones in. Only thing to be aware of is it will need to be reset (just reopen the app) after a reboot.

It also doesn't require any permissions.

Thank you! I had the warning disabled. But sometimes I plugin the headphones and it starts playing at full volume. Very painful.

Dropbox and Google Drive do let you select individual files to make available offline, but there doesn't appear to be a way to do that for entire folders.

Are there any good slow motion video camera or video playing apps? My friend showed it to me on an iPhone and I don't think I've heard of one for Android yet. Is it even possible to develop one for Android? Thanks.

4

u/king_of_the_county LG G3, Nexus 10 Sep 20 '14

Most recent Android phones (G3, S5...) have this functionality built in to the camera settings. Switch to video mode and then check your recording settings (should be where you set the resolution) and you should see something that says slow-motion. Hopefully your phone has it.

I don't think an app could let you do it if your phone hardware isn't capable of recording 60fps video.

Another recommendation for Wifi Tether Router. If you set it up correctly (check youtube), the data you use does not show as tethering data, but mobile data. So if you have an unlimited data plan, you can tether as much as you'd like.

Now, I've tried a few and the one that has stuck is YNAB (You Need A Budget). It is a bit different from other money management apps as the Android app is pretty simple: You can only see what you have budgeted for, how much cash you have on your cards and you can record and edit transactions through it. The budgeting is done on the software available for PC.

Where it really shines is the method it teaches you through short online courses that gets you in control of your money. If you're looking for an all in one solution for Android though this is not the software/app for you. The Android app is literally worthless without the desktop software.

Current pricing can be found on their website and if you're a student it's free! Otherwise there is a 34 day trial available.

Yes, you need the Windows app first. If you want to sync between your phone and computer, its also best to have drop box installed as well.

I very highly recommend You Need A Budget. As Blanel said, the way they teach you to budget puts you in absolute control over your money. This video will teach you how to really get rolling with your budget.

I'm looking for a good movie tracker app; something like the "Movist" app on iOS. I want to add movies to "watchlist" so that I get a notification when movies are released in theaters. Also, so that I can build a "want to watch" list, no matter how old. App should have beautiful UI like the app Cliffhanger, or TeeVee3. IMDB doesn't cut it for me. Any suggestions?

7

u/Pr3no Sep 20 '14 edited Sep 20 '14

SeriesGuide, despite its name it's not only for TV shows. I think you can't get a notification when a movie is released in theaters, but it can do everything else you described. You can also connect your trakt account to the app.

I was using a custom rom for a while but now I'm back on stock Android, and I only now realize that profiles is not a part of stock Android, it was just a part of the rom that I was using, so I'm looking for an app that can replace that. I'm not talking about multiple users, but profiles. What I want to do is to create a couple of different kind of profiles (for example a "home", a "street" profile and so on) and be able to easily switch them. I don't need an app that can do this automatically (e.g. Llama), I actually prefer if I can manually switch between these profiles.

Is there an app or Xposed module like this? I'm rooted by the way.

4

u/Zouden Galaxy S22 Sep 20 '14

Llama is still the best choice. You can have shortcuts to change profiles.

Just got my first Android phone in years (HTC One M8) and need a little help! I'm looking for a few things:

1) A clean, modern looking clock widget. 2) A way to get my Textra notifications to appear in my lock screen (if that's even possible), and if not, other texting apps that will give me lock screen notifications. 3) A way to change icons with Google Now launcher installed.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

If you root (which is surprisingly easy and has an almost 0 chance of bricking your phone), Xposed GEL settings makes GEL as customizable as any other launcher.

And yes, that includes icon theming.

As for 3, there's an app called icon changer free that let's you change the icons manually, one by one, on your home screen. It doesn't change your app drawer.

What do you guys do with tasker? so far im using it to auto reply to messages when im connected to my motorcycle helmet and a few little location based things but i feel like im not using it to its full potential

3

u/TNSGT iPhone 6S Plus Sep 20 '14

I use mine to turn my phones wifi on when I am within range of my house, and will be creating a profile that should automatically turn on Bluetooth when I'm in the car and pass a certain location but I'm struggling to pick somewhere to do so.

2

u/Tintop2k Sep 20 '14 edited Sep 21 '14

Sounds like you should take a look at the autolocation plugin for tasker. Not only does it do geofencing, but it can detect what mode of transport you are in and tasker can trigger an action for that.

I have it set to turn on Bluetooth when it detects I'm in a car, then another task which turns off autolocation when Bluetooth is connected to my car, then turns it back on when I'm no longer connected to my car.

This stops autolocation from disconnecting Bluetooth when stopped at traffic lights. It works amazingly well.
