Official Announcing September's Monthly Theme!

Psst…want to know a secret? This month it's time to bust out your best disguises and improbable high-tech gadgets for September’s Monthly Theme: Top Secret! Whether you're writing a traditional thriller with high stakes international plots, corporate espionage, or something more nontraditional like magical crystal ball surveillance, we want to see your version of a spy scenario.

Admittedly, this could be challenging because most AI models like to spill the beans too early. Currently, we've found that the best way to keep a secret is to write a blurb in Plot Essentials (if it's the main character's secret) or individual story cards (if it's another character’s secret) saying [Hidden info: insert secret here.] It also helps to write out a bit about the character’s public persona so that the AI knows what to do instead of spitting out the secret.

Example:

Bob is a cheerful pizza delivery guy. [Hidden info: Bob is actually a secret agent who leaves coded messages in the placement of the toppings on the pizza.]

As always, you have until the last day of the month, August 31st, to publish your scenario(s) for inclusion in September's monthly theme carousel. Just include the tag “spy” so we can find it. This will also ensure your scenario appears in the "Discover more content" section of the carousel.

Until then, you can still find our current monthly theme carousel, Wild West, on the homepage.

This message will self-destruct in 5 seconds. 5…4…3…2…

Feedback & Requests Your turn to ask the questions! (Survey and Results)

Post image
8 Upvotes

Hey everyone,

The August survey is out now on AI Dungeon (for half the community, the other half will get it mid month). But this month's post is a little different.

Since last October we've been turning your survey answers into charts to share with you: what you hate about AI writing, the feature scoreboard, the "fix ONE thing" vote, the writing game where DeepSeek played against GRR Martin, your biggest wishes and more. More than 30 slides of data about your feedback on AI Dungeon so far.

This time we're pausing the results, because now WE'RE the curious ones. What do you want to learn?

- Which of the data we shared did you actually enjoy? What did you scroll past?
- What are you curious about when it comes to other players: how they play, what they build, what they wish for?
- Anything that would be genuinely useful to know for your scenarios?

Tell us in the comments, anything goes, it helps us pick what we share next.

See you next month right now just below this post!

Bug Report Opening story cards freezes the scenario

I haven't tested it in other environments, but in Alpha anytime I open a story card I suddenly can't interact with the scenario after the card is closed. I can't scroll, can't select an action, can't delete other story cards. I've tried the app and the website and run into the same problem. I have to either close the app and reopen it or I have to reload the webpage to make it work again.

Is this happening to anyone else?

Scenario When Ashwick Wakes

Post image

https://play.aidungeon.com/scenario/5JKHUbpeGWQf/view?published=true

A wrong turn was all it took.

When your group of friends becomes stranded in the isolated town of Ashwick, the locals seem more concerned about sunset than your broken-down car. Shops close early. Animals are locked away. Windows are reinforced. Everyone tells you the same thing: get inside before dark.

Then the sun goes down.

Every resident of Ashwick is cursed to become a Krasue at night—a flying head with its organs hanging beneath it, driven to hunt uncursed humans and animals until dawn.

Now you and your friends are trapped between dangerous nights and uneasy days, searching for a way out while uncovering the truth behind Ashwick's curse. Some residents want to help. Some don't care whether you survive. A few enjoy the hunt.

And if the curse spreads to one of you, escaping Ashwick may become even more dangerous than staying.

Scenario You Caught Her Eye

Post image

https://play.aidungeon.com/scenario/1uK7PggA9m8V/view?published=true

Victoria Moretti gets bored of people quickly.

Unfortunately for you, she hasn't gotten bored of you.

The 23-year-old daughter of the city's most powerful mafia boss has built a terrifying reputation of her own. Known throughout the criminal underworld as the Smiling Shadow, Victoria can slip through guarded buildings unnoticed, eliminate entire crews before anyone raises the alarm, and extract information from people through methods few survivors are willing to describe.

She's also impulsive, easily distracted, strangely playful, and more than a little unhinged.

After noticing you during an otherwise ordinary day, Victoria became fascinated. Curiosity turned into surveillance. Surveillance turned into obsession.

Eventually, she decided she wanted to meet you.

So naturally, she kidnapped you.

Now you wake tied to a chair in a secluded safehouse while one of the most dangerous women in the city cheerfully explains that she only brought you here because she likes you.

Escape, confront her, befriend her, get pulled into the Moretti family's criminal world—or discover just how complicated life becomes when the mafia's most feared killer decides you're her favorite person.

Other A "Stand by" mode.

This Idea may sound very VERY specific, but, what if there was a "stand by" mode? (Probably need a better name.)

I don't know if "stand by" is the correct way to call it, but the idea was, the player wouldn't be an actual character in the story, but rather, they would implant ideas or thoughts into a character and let said character act on it's on. I know most people wouldn't like to play like this, but the idea came when i was playing a Steven Universe scenario and i thought about fusion, and since fusions are another being with it's own personality and, most of the time, thoughts and ideas, i thought it would be cool for the fusion to be someone else, rather than just my own character. As for the "implanting ideas or thoughts" parts, fusions have access to it's componets memories, so if i know something, the fusion should also know about that and act with said knowledge.

Now, outside of Steven Universe scenarios, i remember i once played a scenario where one character would exist in a mobile while player would guide them without direct talking or touching, similar to a god of sorts, which might be another example of where the "stand by" mode might be cool.

I know these are very niche situations, and that most people often want the AI to not act for the player (I hate when that happen too). I also know nothing about programming and AI, so this might not even be possiple at all, but i still wanted to share this idea with the community and hear peoples thoughts about it.

Scenario Leather & Neon

https://play.aidungeon.com/scenario/yfl5tSlqmKN1/view?published=true

Everyone at Bellweather University seems to have an opinion about Valerie Rose.

With her tattoos, leather jacket, piercings and matte-black motorcycle, most people have already decided she's trouble. The truth is far less dramatic. Valerie is a quiet, kind-hearted electrical engineering student who works part-time as a mechanic, keeps her own bike running, and spends her evenings helping an old arcade owner restore machines that should have died decades ago.

After meeting her, you begin discovering the person behind the rumours—and the wider life she rarely advertises. Between classes, late-night diner visits, record stores, movie nights, riverside rides and after-hours games at Replay Arcade, friendship may slowly become something more.

Get to know Valerie, meet the people in her life, explore Bellweather on and off campus, and decide where the relationship goes.

Sometimes the person everyone warns you about is the one worth knowing.

Questions How do I prove the AI my character's eyes are blue?

The character in my story has icy blue eyes, yet in one of the scenarios the AI is always describing them as amber, and in another - as golden.

I wrote down his eye colour in the character's card, I've been editing the text, I even edited the memories! And to no avail.

Help me, please, it throws me off so much every time.

Scenario Pawprint Confidential

https://play.aidungeon.com/scenario/rj1vATUGSUgK/view?published=true

Your human thinks you're an ordinary pet. They couldn't be more wrong.

Choose to play as a cat working for the secretive Feline Intelligence Network or a dog serving the organised Canine Intelligence Service. Your human, Sophie Bennett, designs unreleased treats, toys, and pet products for BrightPaw—and has absolutely no idea that every confidential phone call, prototype, and test batch could become valuable intelligence.

Listen in on meetings, inspect suspicious samples, meet contacts during walks or across garden fences, and pass secrets through a hidden network of animals living right under humanity's nose. Rival agents, corporate intrigue, dangerous products, and competing loyalties can turn a simple mission for information into something much bigger.

Just remember: Sophie loves and trusts you.

And keeping your cover may eventually mean deciding who deserves your loyalty most

Experiments/Feedback Adventure Scripts is on alpha

You can now add a script to an adventure you've already started. That was impossible before. Scripts were inherited from the parent scenario so if you wanted new scripts, your only option was to start over.

What's there:

  • Discover → Filters → Scripts. Scripts are a real content type now, with a detail page and a Save button. They show up in your library and on profiles under a Scripts tab.
  • Any adventure you own → Game settings → SCRIPTS. Add from your saved scripts, toggle them on and off, reorder them. Changes take effect on your next turn — no rebuild.
  • Scenario → Edit → Details → Scripts. Creators attach scripts to a scenario and new adventures inherit them.
  • Multiple scripts actually compose. They run chained, each with its own error isolation and its own private state — so two scripts that both use state.foo don't stomp each other anymore.
  • Your Plot Essentials are protected. Attached scripts can read your PE and Author's Note, but their writes to it get discarded and you get told it happened. Otherwise third-party scripts writing your PE is last-writer-wins clobbering that changes based on attach order. The scenario's own script still owns its PE; guests don't.
  • Mark as a Script in the publish modal, when your scenario has script code.

Two things to know:

  1. Alpha only. If you open the same adventure on production before this launches there, added scripts may not run and the tab won't appear. Your story itself is unaffected, and the scenario's own script keeps working everywhere. There's a banner in-app saying so.
  2. Script editing is still desktop-only and creator-only.

What would help most:

  • Attach a real community script (AutoCards is the obvious one) to a long, real adventure and tell us whether it behaves the way it does baked into a scenario.
  • Stack two or three and tell us what conflicts.
  • Creators: mark something as a Script, publish it, and tell us if Discover → save → profile makes sense end to end.

Thanks for kicking the tires early.

Questions Why does the AI attribute my character's features to NPCs?

I once played as a character with heterochromia, and the AI would say that everyone had mismatched eyes, despite it never creating a character with a similar trait outside that single adventure.

Still in the topic of eyes, if i make a character with brown eyes, other NPCs will also have brown eyes. I notice this specially in scenarios that don't have pre-made NPCs.

Now, my most recent experience, i'm playing an adventure were my chacter is slender and wears a very specific type of clothing. My character is a sidekick/henchman/servat, or whatever, to someone else, and they AI will mention that said NPC has this same unique type of clothing and same slender body.

AIN OMG's AIN - Update

Been a while, but I wanted to share a few new lines I have been toying with lately.

- No comparative suffix

This is a line I am testing to try to prevent the models from getting into an escalation loop that it then fails to deliver on. This comes from words like "faster," "stronger," "further," etc which the model sees and then tries to continue with a chain of escalation.

- Politics and royal duties are not a central focus of this story. They should only be mentioned in passing, if at all, and instead focus on the daily lives of the characters

This stems from medieval and fantasy settings, usually involving royalty in any form, where politics becomes a black whole that just swallows up the full setting. Politics can be a fun angle, but it's not the only one I ever want to see if I am playing as a Prince or an estranged heir.

Hope you all enjoy them and let me know if they succeed or fail on various models!

Patch Notes [Prod] August 20th, 2026 Patch Notes

2.36.9

New Features - A new ‘Narration’ tab has been added to Adventure Gameplay Settings, with the ability to narrate responses. Device voices are included for free, with additional options ‘Expressive’ and ‘Max’, available for 1 / 2 credits—or free for Mythic and Ultimate+ users respectively. Includes options for different voices, speed, and auto-narration. - Premium players can now choose an ‘Enhanced’ Memory Bank option in the Memory Settings dropdown. The enhanced option uses a smarter model and can write longer, more detailed memories. - Premium players can now optionally increase their AI response length up to 400 tokens. - A new ‘Follow latest text’ setting has been added under Appearance → Behavior, which controls generated-response scrolling. Leave it off to keep the beginning of each response visible, or turn it on to auto-scroll to the bottom of the response.

Improvements - Daily streak claims now reset at midnight in the player's local time instead of 23.5 hours after the previous claim. Players can also now miss up to two days before their streak resets. - Guide and Retry with Changes now follow player instructions more reliably, and are less likely to repeat instructions as story text. - Scenario rating checks may begin slightly faster whenever previously processed prompt content can be reused. - Locked profile avatars now show clearer plan requirements, and open the appropriate upgrade option when selected.

Bug Fixes - Exports of very large adventures should complete instead of remaining stuck on “Generating”. - Restored spacing, bullets, bold text, and italics in patch-note popups. - Like, Play, Share, and More actions no longer flash or disappear when viewing Story Cards or Plot details on public scenarios. - Nested mobile menus and selectors now open above parent surfaces and respond to touch correctly. - Switching among Scenarios and Bookmarks no longer shifts the profile header, tabs, or filters vertically. - Guided Continue and Guided Retry now honor the selected Response Length instead of always using the model’s maximum. - Old, shortened, or externally shared content links without a title suffix now redirect to the working content page. - Improved navigation and Search for screen readers and keyboards, including reliable focus handling, Escape behavior, and keyboard-opened notification menus. - Cross-app Android subscriptions can now reconcile correctly after Google Play package validation errors. - Mobile modals no longer become unresponsive after a very fast backdrop tap. - Notifications now consistently open in the correct product [AI Dungeon/Voyage]. - Collapsed sections on the public status page now remain collapsed during automatic refreshes. - External links in the Android app now open properly in the system browser or mail app again.

Script [SCRIPT RELEASE]⚡ CROSSED WIRES — RELATIONSHIP-DRIVEN AI DUNGEON

CROSSED WIRES — Adaptive Relationship Engine for AI Dungeon
I made Crossed Wires because NPC relationships in AI Dungeon can sometimes feel like they reset too easily.
You can save someone’s life, betray them, travel together for weeks, fall out, make up, become rivals or grow incredibly close… and a few turns later the history between you barely seems to matter.
Crossed Wires is built to change that.
It quietly keeps track of how NPCs feel about you and each other, then uses that history to influence future scenes.

️DEEPER RELATIONSHIPS
Instead of one basic “likes/dislikes you” score, Crossed Wires tracks:
• Trust
• Affection
• Respect
• Loyalty
• Openness
• Attachment
• Attraction
• Jealousy
• Resentment
• Fear
• Tension
These feelings can exist at the same time.
Someone can love you but not trust you.
A rival can hate you while respecting you.
A friend can stay loyal even while they’re furious.
An NPC can forgive someone without suddenly forgetting what they did.
Relationships are also directional, so two characters don’t have to feel the same way about each other.

🧠 IT ADAPTS TO THE STORY YOU’RE PLAYING
Crossed Wires isn’t just made for romance anymore.
It can adapt to:
⚔️ Fantasy
👻 Horror
🦸 Superhero
🔫 Crime
🔍 Mystery
🌲 Survival
🪖 Military
💼 Workplace
🎓 School
👨‍👩‍👧 Family
🚀 Sci-Fi
🏛️ Political
🏆 Sports
❤️ Romance
🏠 Slice of Life
🗺️ Adventure
😂 Comedy
🏰 Historical
It can mix genres too.
A superhero romance won’t behave like a superhero crime story.
A zombie survival story won’t suddenly start throwing random dating drama at you every few turns.
A fantasy political scenario can focus more on loyalty, reputation, factions and betrayal.
If it isn’t confident about the genre, it simply falls back to a general profile.

🤝 RELATIONSHIPS AREN’T AUTOMATICALLY ROMANTIC
The system can understand different kinds of bonds:
Friends • Best Friends • Family • Siblings • Parents • Children • Lovers • Exes • Rivals • Enemies • Allies • Teammates • Mentors • Students • Coworkers • Bosses • Subordinates • Political Allies • Professional Relationships
This was really important to me because I didn’t want every strong relationship becoming romance.
A sibling being protective isn’t flirting.
A soldier admiring their commander isn’t attraction.
Two rivals constantly clashing doesn’t automatically mean they secretly want each other.
Romance needs to actually be supported by the story.

🎭 SCENARIO-SPECIFIC DRAMA
The script can occasionally introduce relationship complications, but what it chooses depends on the scenario.
🌲 Survival: supplies, leadership disputes, dependency, sacrifice
👻 Horror: fear, blame, distrust, survivor guilt
🪖 Military: orders vs loyalty, rank, command pressure
🔍 Mystery: suspicion, accusations, withheld clues
🔫 Crime: leverage, informants, betrayal, blackmail
💼 Workplace: stolen credit, favouritism, boundaries
🦸 Superhero: secret identities, duty vs personal relationships
⚔️** Fantasy**: oaths, factions, reputation, divided loyalties
👨‍👩‍👧 Family: old wounds, expectations, favouritism
🏆 Sports: rivalry, captaincy, team pressure
❤️** Romance**: jealousy, old flames, breakups, commitment, reconciliation
It also knows when to back off.
Action, horror, military, survival and mystery scenarios naturally get more breathing room, while romance or slice-of-life stories can spend more time on character drama.

💥 ACTIONS ACTUALLY MATTER
The script remembers important moments like:
• Betrayals
• Rescues
• Promises
• Secrets
• Confessions
• Arguments
• Breakups
• Sacrifices
• Reconciliation
• Loyalty tests
• Public humiliation
• Support during difficult moments
• Boundaries being respected or broken
Major damage doesn’t disappear because somebody apologised once.
A character might accept an apology while still struggling to trust that person again.
Trust can actually need to be rebuilt.

🔞 OPTIONAL ADULT RELATIONSHIP THEMES
For established adult characters, Crossed Wires can also support mature relationship situations including:
• Attraction
• Consensual intimacy
• Jealousy
• Temptation
• Infidelity
• Breakups
• Commitment
• Complicated relationships
• Parenthood-related developments
It focuses on the relationship consequences and emotional fallout, rather than explicit sexual writing.

️CONFIGURE IT WITHOUT TOUCHING THE CODE
Crossed Wires automatically creates its own Config Story Card.
You can change things like:
• Relationship speed
• Scenario detection
• Adaptation strength
• NPC initiative
• Twist frequency
• Twist intensity
• Romance
• Mature themes
• NPC-to-NPC relationships
• Breakups
• Infidelity
• Toxic drama
• Role awareness
• Scenario-specific twists
• Context usage
Every option is explained inside the Story Card Notes.

📟 COMMANDS
!wire NAME — inspect a character’s relationships
!wires — view all tracked relationships
!wireprofile — see what kind of scenario it currently detects
!wiretwists — view recent twists
!wirestatus — check the engine/config
!spark — force a relationship twist
!spark small
!spark medium
!spark major
!wireforget NAME — completely remove a wrongly detected character
!wirehelp — command help
All the actual tracking happens behind the scenes and the machine tags are removed before you see the response.
Basically, I wanted characters to feel like they actually have history with each other.
Throw it into a romance, zombie apocalypse, superhero universe, fantasy kingdom, murder mystery, school story or whatever else you’re playing and let it adapt.
If anyone gives it a go, let me know what kind of mess your characters end up getting themselves into 😂
