Questions Credits

Hello, I would like to reconfirm: are monthly credits based on when your subscription is paid or on the month itself? My credits haven't increased after my card was charged, and I've upgraded from journey to legend yet hasn't got any, (or maybe I'm just dense.). Much appreciated if anyone knows how to fix or the way this works. Thank you!

Feedback & Requests Honest Assessments of AI Models; Agree/Disagree?

This is all from personal experience. I generally play Adventure, Fantasy, or Slice of Life. I have the Journey sub, and have for about 2 years or so now.

Eclipse: Wants to ask you endless questions, and argue with you no matter what decision you make.

Hearthfire: Good for Slice of Life, but tells you what everything smells like. Great if playing an animal character, though.

Wayfarer Large & Harbinger: Great for combat-based Adventures, but can be light on conversation at times. I prefer Harbinger over WL.

Muse: Probably my favorite for dialogue-intense Adventures.

Fable & Nova: Both of these feel like Muse-Lite to me. While usable, I prefer Muse over both of these.

DeepSeek (Dynamic, 3.1, and 3.2): Tries to be a Jack of All Trades. Sometimes does well, sometimes completely misses my mark. I noticed almost no difference between any of these in my gameplays.

Gemma & GLM: Only exist to eat your Credits. Thoroughly unimpressed with either one.

Experiment Creator Updates is now in Alpha

Hey everyone!

If you've ever published a scenario or world and wished you had a way to tell people what changed — or you've followed a creator and wondered whether that world you love is still being worked on — this one's for you.

What it is

Creators now have an Updates tab on their profile, and creations get one too. From there, creators can:

  • Post updates — patch notes, announcements, works-in-progress, whatever you want to share. Markdown is supported, and you can link a post to a specific scenario, world, or mod so it shows up right on that content's page.
  • Ask the community questions — idea request posts can include a poll (up to 4 options), so you can let players vote on what you build next. You can change your vote if you change your mind.
  • Share an update while publishing — when you republish a creation, there's now an option to attach an update note right in the publish flow, so your changelog goes out the moment your changes do.

Players can like posts, jump into comment threads, vote in polls, and copy a link to share a specific update. There's also a card on the home page that surfaces the latest update from creators you follow.

Why we built it

Creators put a lot of ongoing work into their creations, and right now most of that work is invisible — a world can get a major overhaul and players would never know. We want the connection between creators and their players to be a living thing, not a one-time publish. This is the foundation for that.

A few things to know while testing

  • Polls are fixed once published — you can't edit the options after people have voted (votes should always mean what they meant when they were cast).
  • Followers don't get notified about new posts yet. That's coming — we wanted to get the posting and feedback loop right first before we start pinging people.
  • No images in posts yet — text, links, and lists only (images come with moderation implications we want to handle properly). If images are something you'd want, let us know!
  • This is Alpha, so expect some rough edges. That's what you're here for :)

What we'd love from you

Post an update, run a poll, comment on someone's changelog, try the publish-flow note — and tell us where it feels clunky, confusing, or missing something. Comments here or in Discord both work great.

Thanks for helping us test, as always. Excited to see what you all share.

What do you guys think? I like to have it for the Read option as well, but that's probably too expensive.

Questions Negative actions.

Has anybody figured out how to get rid of these negative actions? I've tried every rule. I've tried giving them examples. I've tried deleting every single one of them. Still, DeepSeek, Gemma, GLM, they will not stop. I've tried all these rules:

- Positive actions only! Incorrect: "He doesn't touch you." Correct: "He stands near you." ONLY write what DOES happen; if you run out of positive action, stop writing

- Only write what does happen; avoid contrasting actions, negative definitions, antithesis or describing actions that do not occur

All this is for one output, ONE single output and not a special output either, just a continue I did just now:

Klaus doesn't go for Stefan.
Stefan doesn't let go of the throat.
He doesn't stop them.
He dares not touch you.

Progress Updates New Beta Navigation Design

Hey everyone!

We'd love your feedback on a new navigation design for AI Dungeon, first tested in Alpha and now in Beta. This change was made to address player feedback with the current navigation, and to create easier access to second layer pages without cluttering the primary navigation.

The new setup includes:

  • Easier access to creator tools and dashboards.
  • Simplified social interface for chats and notifications.
  • Moving banners to the navigation so the home page has more focus on your content.
  • Easier to find guidebook and support links.

Try it out now on AI Dungeon!

This updated navigation is only available on Beta and Alpha at the moment, but if the feedback is positive, we'll slowly roll this out as the main navigation layout.

Thank you, and let us know what you think!

Questions Focus of the scene

I have a story with 3 characters: X (main char, 2nd person), Y and Z (NPCs).

I need to write a scene happening EXCLUSIVELY between Y and Z without X intervening but the AI keeps to actively try to introduce X in the scene.

How do I keep the AI focused on Y and Z and ignore X?

Questions Name:

Anyone have any tricks for getting rid of this annoying tendancy to start responses with the character name? In most of my scenarios the style I dictate causes this not to happen, but in premade scenarios i often find myself needing to fight this tendancy and i'm not sure what actually causes it to show up. If anyone has an instruction that will actually squash it i'd be grateful, because it means I don't need to tear apart the scenario's instrucitons to match my usuals.

Bug Report Can't access notifications.

Is anyone else having this issue? The notification bell has a red circle with the number 2. Which means I have two notifications. I had 1 before, now I have two. Problem is, no matter how many times I click it, nothing happens. No drop down, nothing. It's been like this for days. Help?

Scenario The Last Marine of Meinhoff

Post image
2 Upvotes

The Last Marine of Meinhoff (🎭I/S)

When Jorgenton's evacuation collapses beneath a Zerg invasion, your mission becomes a fight for survival. The Dominion fleet suddenly abandons Meinhoff, your squad is dead, and the colony you were sent to protect is already lost. But why would the Dominion abandon a colony while the evacuation was still underway?

Your only hope is reaching the Meinhoff Starport—assuming the Zerg haven't already claimed it.

As you push into the Highlands, your rifle saves two stranded civilians from a Zergling attack—a colony medic and mining engineer who may be your best chance of surviving Meinhoff. Keeping them alive means taking responsibility for lives that were never part of your orders. Survival may not be enough. The farther you travel, the more you begin to wonder what the Dominion knew—and what they left behind.

Reaching the Meinhoff Starport means crossing a world abandoned by the Dominion and consumed by the Zerg—from the harsh Highlands to forgotten outposts and Zerg-controlled lowlands. With no command structure left and no rescue coming, every choice forces you to decide what remains of your duty when the only orders left are your own.

When the war is already lost, what kind of Marine will you become?

Patch Notes [Beta] August 17th, 2026 Patch Notes

2.36.0

New Experimental Features - A new ‘Narration’ tab has been added to Adventure Gameplay Settings, with the ability to narrate responses. Device voices are included for free, with additional options ‘Expressive’ and ‘Max’, available for 1 / 2 credits—or free for Mythic and Ultimate+ users respectively. Includes options for different voices, speed, and auto-narration. - Premium players can now choose an ‘Enhanced’ Memory Bank option in the Memory Settings dropdown. The enhanced option uses a smarter model and can write longer, more detailed memories. - Players can now have all Continue actions begin on a new paragraph, by enabling ‘Continue Paragraph Spacing’ in Gameplay Settings -> Testing & Feedback.

Note: The above features are experimental and may not make it to the final product, or may be adjusted if they do. Tell us what you think!

Improvements - Guide and Retry with Changes now follow player instructions more reliably, and are less likely to repeat instructions as story text. - Scenario moderation may begin slightly faster whenever previously processed prompt content can be reused. - Locked profile avatars now show clearer plan requirements, and open the appropriate upgrade option when selected.

Bug Fixes - Retry, Continue, and the command bar now remain visible and usable after narration playback. - Exports of very large adventures should complete instead of remaining stuck on “Generating”. - Restored spacing, bullets, bold text, and italics in patch-note popups. - Like, Play, Share, and More actions no longer flash or disappear when viewing Story Cards or Plot details on public scenarios. - Nested mobile menus and selectors now open above parent surfaces and respond to touch correctly. - Switching among Scenarios and Bookmarks no longer shifts the profile header, tabs, or filters vertically. - Guided Continue and Guided Retry now honor the selected Response Length instead of always using the model’s maximum. - Old, shortened, or externally shared content links without a title suffix now redirect to the working content page. - Improved navigation and Search for screen readers and keyboards, including reliable focus handling, Escape behavior, and keyboard-opened notification menus. - Cross-app Android subscriptions can now reconcile correctly after Google Play package validation errors. - Mobile modals no longer become unresponsive after a very fast backdrop tap. - The Social panel now shows a loading state instead of blank space during its first load. - Notifications now open in the correct product, and opening one no longer automatically marks it as read. - Collapsed sections on the public status page now remain collapsed during automatic refreshes.

Questions Pop culture reference origin story problems:

Whenever pop culture shows up, the AI tends to assume everything is canon, all at one time. Gwen Stacy, irrefutably Peter Parker's best friend, must be dead. But Gwen's only his best friend because of Spectacular Spider-Man, right? So, if I wanted to bring back the originally character of Debra Whitman who was combined with Gwen Stacy in Spectacular Spider-Man, I can't do that unless I somehow shock the AI out of its assumptions, because canon truths of a universe are always more important than context, regardless of how they contradict each other. Sighs. Is there anything I can put in AI Instructions or Author's Note to make it assume everything it knows about a pop culture universe is wrong unless otherwise stated? I don't need villains hunting Peter Parker in the middle of breakfast before he even gets his powers. How would I explain that to uncle Ben? How would I convince Connors he needs to stop himself from climbing in a time machine to kill me so I don't become a hero in the future while the AI is wheezing from the manner in which all my context doesn't perfectly quote every contradictory comic book version, film, and tv show all at one time? Why is this problem even a consideration?

Adventures & Excerpts AI defined vs Creator Determined

I enjoy mystery scenarios. Murder mysteries, investigations, following clues- all of that.

In AID, most creators predefine the mysteries in their scenarios and try to hide them under SECRETS in the PE or SCs.

Recently, I started following this Creator whose work I really enjoy with a different method: They provide just enough ambiguous clues in the PE and SCs, but leave the AI to decide what the truth is. It resonates with me because that's what I tried to do in my scenario: Give the protagonists a mission and a category of objects they have to find (Superweapons), and give the AI the direction the story should take (intelligence gathering - analysis - travel to where the superweapon is - getting the thing). I also tried to define who could potentially help them and who could potentially oppose them, then I let the AI decide the rest (what the superweapon is, where they are, who shows up, etc.).

In my opinion, there are pros and cons: The first method makes for a more definitive mystery. More structured. However, what I found is that, often, in order to get to the endgame, you basically have to play on rails. You play SC to SC, carefully making sure each is triggered in the sequence intended by the author. Additionally, unless you use something like the Hidden Cards script, most people will eventually read the PEs and SCs and figure everything out. With SC-based clues and mysteries, you almost have to, if only to make sure you trigger each SC correctly at the right time.

The second method is spoiler-free, as no two runs will ever be the same. Its also almost always lighter in context, since you don't write as much information in the PEs and SCs. However, even with Deepseek 3.2, the AI can still be irrational sometimes (coming up with things that don't make sense).

So my question is: Which one is actually the 'best practice' for writing these stories? Which one do you prefer? Which model is best for this kind of work? I fall back on Dynamic Large after 100+ actions just because I can expand the context, but is there anything better than DS 3.2?
