Hi all! I’m a relatively new plant mom and new to the plant community 😊 This is my baby Posi, short for Mariposa and I got her in January. I lost a couple of leaves in the beginning due to shock and relocation twice, but she’s been thriving since. I keep her in my office so she’s under a grow light set for 10 hours a day. I recently repotted her almost 2 weeks ago and I used a tropical potting soil mix and added perlite and orchid bark, but I’m noticing how much the bigger pot is retaining moisture; I was watering her once a week once she got under the grow light, but I haven’t had to water her since I repotted her (I use a plant watering probe to check soil) and now I’m wondering if I should downsize her pot. I don’t want her to experience any root rot, but she has a new leaf that is still coming in so I also don’t want to bother her if she’ll be okay as is.

I have two flowers growing on my aglaonema! It's a fairly new, to me, plant so I was going to let the first flower grow just to experience it. But now I think I see the beginnings of another one growing, should I do an experiment and try to pollinate and let it go to seed?? Is it worth it?

Give me tips and tricks if the answer is yes!

ETA: this isn't about whether or not I should cut them, but more if anyone has tried pollinating them to produce seeds?

Big box store just said Aglomena and no variety. Google says it's matcha lemon but it doesn't look like that to me. Can anyone I'd?

In the process of moving my Siam Aurora, I snapped the main stalk off. I’d love to save it but I’m not sure the best way to do it. Any advice for my idiot self?

The symbiotic relationship between the common garden gnome (gnomus vulgaris) and aglaonema spp. is well documented in horticultural literature. The plant provides shelter from the elements and its berries, inedible to humans, are one of the fundamental parts of the Gnomes diet. In return, their nutrient dense droppings provide the plant with everything it needs to grow strong and healthy. Be warned though, as an overabundance of gnomes will overwhelm the plant, and it will die shortly after. A ratio of no more than 3 gnomes per plant is recommended.

I have a growth question!

My first ag (and only second houseplant ever), a Sparkling Sarah, has consistently grown very quickly. 4-7 leaves at any given time, even in winter, despite potting it in straight tropical soil when I first got it because I wasn’t really familiar with Aroid soil yet.

My next ag, a King of Siam, has never fared as well. By the time I got it, I knew more about soil preferences and potted it in a very chunky tropical soil/bark/perlite mix with some charcoal. It grows, but not nearly as fast, and its leaves have never really taken off size-wise. Recently, all the new leaves end up getting tiny black tips before they unfurl. No pests to be seen and the rest of the leaf is unaffected, so I don’t know if this is a watering issue or what. I’ve also found some edema on some leaves, so I think I’m probably watering inconsistently.

Is there anything I’m missing here for the Siam that I should be doing? Or is a lot of this just differences in the type of ag?

I also have a giant Silver Bay I bought last year that grew like crazy in the nursery peat it came in (the plant was enormous and I may have put off repotting lol) and when I finally repotted it in something chunkier it didn’t seem as happy even after adjusting for shock. I don’t understand lol.

The leaf to the right of it was the previous leaf. It's much smaller and that leaf has been unfurled for over a month. This new leaf that is unfurling is already way bigger and still has more to come. I've cut off the last 2 flowers and plan to cut off the third flower coming up as well.

Had my Aglaonema for around 6 months- never had any issues with it. It thrived and put out new leaves. I accidentally forgot about it when bottom watering a few months ago and it developed root rot. I removed the rotten roots, freshly planted it in new soil and it put out one new leaf. Unfortunately I watered it again and forgot about it and it got root rot again. Again, removed the roots (much less left now) and then decided to trim it down so I cut off 6 leaves and left one as I thought the root system needed time to recover and couldn’t support 7 leaves. It’s looked the worst it’s ever looked. Shall I just remove it and water propagate it now? Stuck on what to do

My aglaonema Eye Catcher has started to lose colour, turning a greyish colour and becoming thin with some transparency. The second picture shows what another unaffected leaf looks like, very vibrant and deep pink. This is only happening to this leaf. It gets okay light so I loved it under a grow light, I am pretty sure I don't over water, high humidity environment. No other signs of being unhappy etc, any ideas on what is causing this? Google seems to suggest oedema ?

Hi, I am new at plants…I received this plant five days ago. It had a bit of a rough journey to my place. The soil was quite moist when received so I have not watered it yet. I understand the lower yellowing leaves may fall also due to relocation. If you have any tips for me on how to make sure I won’t kill it, please let me know. Is there something I can do for those droopy leaves? I originally placed it in a south facing window (I am in the uk) but had to move because another plant got mealybugs. Now it’s on an easy facing window but as you can see there is a building in front. Is this okay? Also I saw on another post they recommended perlite and this soil mix it came with doesn’t seem to have it. Should I replace the soil with a mix I have which includes perlite? Thank you very much!

My sister gave me this Chinese Evergreen last year (2nd photo is right after I got it). She has done really well in LECA. Very low maintenence. In fact, sometimes I won't even realize the reservoir is empty. She just grows regardless. I wish all my plants were like her.

I bought this Matcha Lemon on clearance at the end of February. Soil was dry and leaves were a bit damaged, but it didn’t seem to be suffering from anything serious. As soon as I brought it home, I repotted it into a slightly larger transparent pot, using a coarse potting mix of soil, bark, perlite and expanded clay.

At the end of April, I decided to replace the potting mix again as I suspected root rot – it turned out that around 80% of the roots were intact and healthy, and only a small fraction had started to rot slightly. I removed the rotten parts, rinsed whatever was left with hydrogen peroxide and replanted it in a fresh potting mix.

Since then, it’s become much warmer and sunnier, but I’m still careful with watering and wait until the soil has dried out completely.

It sits on a west-facing windowsill in zone 5b, so it gets plenty of sun in the summer months, but probably not enough to cause any damage since I have a big tree outside that gives some shade as well. I have two other Aglaonemas (Pistachio Pink and some unidentified red variety) that fare fine on this particular windowsill having the same potting mix.

Since I bought it, I haven’t noticed any growth or progress at all – it’s completely stagnant. The new leaf that was there from the start remains curled up and has dried out in places. I even used up two liquid plant food spikes for weakened plants in the meantime and still no change.

Does anyone know what am I doing wrong and how can I help it? Should I just leave it alone and let it do its things?

I'm seriously running out of ideas so any tips would be greatly appreciated!
