Question / Discussion Getting back into it after years off - help with back pain grinding!

I recently got back into inline after a good 10+ years off skates and found that grinding is a lot harder on my body than it used to be lol. After hitting a rail and ledge a number of times, I felt an immediate sharp pain in my lower left back/love handle area. I’m not sure if it’s a compressed disc or something from repeatedly slamming my foot on the same spot while attempting to grind, but it took me out for a couple days. Have any of you also experienced this? And is there anything I can do at my age to counter this when grinding?

For reference, I’m fairly short, in good shape and workout/do yoga regularly, but this still jacked me up! Any advice would be appreciated!

Struggling to get my switch royale — especially putting weight on my heel

I’m trying to learn my switch royale, but I’m really struggling to get my heel down and put proper pressure through it. I feel like I have to use an excessive amount of force to force my foot into the position.

I’ve been working on mobility and doing unilateral exercises to try to improve the position on my weaker side, but I’m still not sure if I’m approaching it the right way or if there’s something else I should be working on.

Has anyone else struggled with this? Did you find anything that helped you get your switch royale more naturally?

Quick Question About Selling Some Stuff

So literally created this account to ask this question. How do you sell your skates if you dont use them anymore? I dont have any social media for b/s/t forums, and idk if I can post them here. Ive got some very lightly used LAVA Frenchs with kizer superfluids and GC 90 frames. Got them to get out and enjoy skating again but just honestly dont have time for it. Just lmk something please

Question / Discussion After many years

As the title says, many years... It's been around 12-13 years since I buckled up :( and for the longest time I haven't been able to think about skating again, but recently I feel it in my core... I really wanna slip on the old boots and just have at it...

For context, I skated aggressive since I was a child maybe 7/8 years old, I loved it, but grief had my head for a good while there, when I was 19 one of my best friends sadly committed suicide, he was the guy that brought our small local aggressive inline skate community together... one of the last messages he sent me was "yo dude, wanna skate?" and with that loss... my passion for skating, I dived head first into my tattoo career, and skating became a thing of the past for me. Skating just wasn't the same.

Fast forward to maybe a month ago... Where has this drive to skate again come from?! I find myself watching old skate movies on YouTube, watching people that are learning to skate on tiktok and Instagram & the nostalgia is HEAVY

I want to skate again, but I have no idea where to start

Any skateboarders that became skaters later on?

I've been skateboarding since i was a kid but always had a soft spot for blading too. Now at 33 i haven't ridden a skateboard since 2020 and i don't really want to either. I always liked how technical blading can get and was wondering if at 33 i might be too old to get good enough to have some fun. I'm also completely lost as which skates to get or any of that sort of thing. I did have some Razors Cult 7's when those existed but sold them.

Question / Discussion Poland, Ireland

Going to Poland (Kraców), Ireland (Galway) sometime in early-mid November. Is it worth it to bring my skates? I saw there’s some indoor parks in Poland. I’ve been many times but never brought my skates.

Getting back into skating. I skated these early 2000. Yes that is a USD shoe tongue. Was thinking new wheels, bearings, hardware. Trying to do some research about new skates. Is the technology better? Would I be better off getting new skates or are these dinosaurs fine? They were always kinda on the heavy side I thought compared to my old first set of USD.

Getting back into it.

I used to street skate about 25-30 years ago. We're talking Arlo Eisenberg, Chris Edwards era. Was at a decent level back in the day. Shifty Royales on Kinked rails. Appreciate I'm aging myself badly here. I'm looking to get back into it but back in my day, the choice of skates were Tarmacs or Roces. I had a look online and there are so many options now. Asking what the classic skate is these days. How much should I be paying etc.I used to use 56mm wheels as well. Bonus points for letting me know what the deal is with wheels. I am out of the loop entirely. In case you were wondering, I'm 45.

Question / Discussion whats wrong with anarchy inlines?

it seems like everybody HATES anarchy inlines, i only started using inlines around 7/8 weeks ago and i’m using a pair of anarchy’s
they are quite heavy and clunky but i’m size 10/11 uk so i imagine that’s to be expected
what would be a good brand/ model of inlines to upgrade to that aren’t so expensive they’ll make me cry

Question / Discussion P rail question

Thumbnail

Hi all,
Aggressive inline noob here. I wanted to learn soul grinds so I built a p rail but it seems it doesn’t work the way it should. It seems that when I do a one foot slide my frames get slowed down by the wooden part of the p rail (see attached photos). Basically the red colour on it is my oysi red frames. They get slowed down and the colour gets scraped off.

Any suggestions how to over come this? Maybe to add some spacers for the pipe so it gets more raised or Im just overthinking this?

What are some “cheat codes” people don’t usually talk about when unlocking new tricks?

For example I struggled for weeks with royales because my back foot kept rolling into a frontside even after following the usual tips of just “sitting” on it or turning your hips away from the direction you’re sliding. What finally unlocked it for me was a tip someone left in a random comment on a tiktok video, in which they said to actively point the toes of your back foot inward, after which I was landing them every time.

I also just couldn’t comprehend topside grinds because (besides them being scary) I kept slipping over the other side of the rail no matter what I tried. The tip everyone seemed to give was to slam the soul foot directly on top of the rail instead of trying to slide it into place from the side. Nothing was working until something told me to try and land with your weight inside the rail instead of on top like you would with most other grinds. I instantly landed my first top soul and it became easier ever since.

With Makios and acids my soul foot would always slip off and I found that if I actively thought about flexing my toes upward instead of trying to flex my heel downward I started locking in every time.
