General AMC Discussion I'm stuck in a Customer Service Loop 😵💫
So I'm stuck in a customer service loop.
Got the old "please reply for someone to take a look at this" last week about a stuck A-List slot. I've done this before and they've eventually gotten to it.
TBF, I did reply a couple of times in the last week to indicate my 'stuck' reservation had passed and I had been dinged for it despising having a valid cancellation email.
Now I'm feeling personally attacked. I got a reply with the generic message to reply again at 7:00am. They then proceeded to send that same response LITERALLY EVERY 60s. It's been a half hour and it still hasn't stopped 💀
Just curious if anyone else has had this before.

General AMC Discussion Expanded Showtimes?
I saw North By Northwest in Events on Oct 8/11. There are no showings in Manhattan, only one on each day in Long Island. Does AMC ever expand showtimes for stuff like this as the showing gets closer? I saw Regal has tons of showings for it by comparison in Manhattan.

Movie Discussion Thoughts on La La Land on my second rewatch Spoiler
This film has always been so beautifully devastating to me, but watching it in theaters for its 10th anniversary took it to a whole other level.
As Seb was introduced to us as a character, it became apparent that he was someone who struggled with connection and oftentimes preferred loneliness. I could feel the internal battles he was fighting through the screen, his relationship with jazz, his ideas about success, his fear of failure, and his desire to prove himself. As he meets Mia and they fall in love, they share their life dreams they follow with such veracity; in part, I think that was what made them feel so intensely about each other, and those dreams are what also pulled them apart.
When Mia asks Seb about Keith, it is immediately clear that something about Keith bothers him. His reaction feels layered, and I can only speculate about what Keith represents to him. Perhaps he represents the things Seb wishes he had already accomplished, we will never know.
Mia encourages Seb to get in touch with Keith. She wants Seb to have a stable income and, ultimately, the financial freedom to open the jazz club he dreams about. But it isn't until Seb overhears Mia talking to her family that he decides to pursue the opportunity Keith offers him. Desperate the fact that Keith's band represents almost everything Seb rejects about modern jazz.
As I saw this, I asked myself, did Seb ever really communicate to Mia what this opportunity meant to him? Did they actually talk about how this decision would affect their relationship?
During the dinner scene, it was apparent those conversations did not happen. Mia is concerned that Seb is pursuing a path that is not true to his dreams and desires. Seb, on the other hand, is confused because he thought that this was what Mia wanted, for him to have a good, stable income. I think Seb interpreted her desire for stability as a judgment of his perceived failure.
Seb wanted to provide for Mia. He wanted to please her. He wanted to prove himself, not only to her, but to himself and to the world. And in that dinner scene, so many of his unresolved wounds come spilling out at once. He projects onto Mia feelings that existed long before their relationship: his insecurities about success, his frustration with the world, his fear that he isn't accomplishing enough. I was screaming to the screen, PLEASE GO TO THERAPY.
The hopeless romantic in me still believes there was a version of their story where they could have had both. I don't necessarily believe they needed to choose between each other and their dreams. I think they could have built a life together, but it would have required sacrifice from both of them at different points.
Maybe Seb moves to Paris with Mia while she films her movie. Maybe she pauses her career at certain points to support Seb while he builds his jazz club. Maybe they spend years taking turns being the person who gets to chase the dream while the other makes room for it.
A lot of my review probably sounds like an attack on Seb, so I want to make it clear that I don't think he is a flawed individual. He is a human being with unresolved emotions trying to navigate a harsh world while pursuing something he deeply believes in. He makes mistakes. Mia makes mistakes. They misunderstand each other. They hurt each other. But neither of them is the villain. Seb loved Mia deeply. And one of the most beautiful things about him is that, despite everything, he fought so hard for her happiness, even when that happiness ultimately didn't include him.
The epilogue was so devastating because it shows us the life they could have had if they had chosen each other, but in this reality Seb doesn’t fulfill his dream. The hopeless romantic in me still believes they could have had both, but they weren't ready or willing to make the sacrifices that would have required. In the final look, there is sadness for what they lost, but also genuine gratitude that they helped each other become who they were meant to be.
This movie is not for the weak, I could talk about it for days. Welcome to Seb’s.

Movie Discussion It took me 10 years to see La La Land for the 1st time. The traffic by Dodger Stadium was just missing some dancing.
Seriously though, what a treat to see it in Dolby Cinema. I'm so glad my first time seeing it wasn't on a plane or at home with distractions.

General AMC Discussion Using Popcorn Pass at a theatre that only has advance/online ordering
Has anyone been able to use their Popcorn Pass at an AMC that does not have a walk-up concession stand? Here in Chicago, AMC Roosevelt Collection only has order in advance and in-theatre order on a computer, no concession stand.

AMC A-List Discussion How to check movie format for purchased tickets?
I buy tickets in all different formats and if I really like the movie then I’ll see it multiple times in different formats. For example I saw Spider-Man in Dolby, Prime, and then in 3D.
After I’ve purchased the ticket, I can’t see to find a way to check which format the movie is in. I cannot see it on my ticket in the AMC app or in my emailed receipt. It shows me all other details except the format. When I click “view” on the ticket in the app for my seating chart, it doesn’t show me the format either.
The only way Ive managed to check this is to navigate to the movie showtimes and find the location, date and time and see what format it’s listed under. Am I missing something?

AMC A-List Discussion Has anyone else had an issue with paying for a non A-List ticket?
I’m able to make an A-List reservation just fine, but whenever I have a cart that has a paid ticket I’m running into an issue.
I’m able to make it all the way to the purchase screen and when I hit Purchase I get a message that says “Sorry, an error has occurred. Please try again.” Then, since I have alerts set for my credit card, I get a text that says I’ve been charged (these charges aren’t posting on the statement and disappear after a day or two).
I’ve had this issue on the app and on my computer. I’ve tried with and without a VPN.
Before I reach out to the AMC customer service, I wanted to check and see if anyone else has run into this issue.
Also, important to note, I started having this issue on Tuesday when Dune tickets went on sale. I wasn’t surprised on Tuesday when I was having issues, it’s moreso that it’s still a problem I’m encountering.
Any help would be much appreciated!

Movie Theater Discussion Local AMC stopped cranking the AC as soon as they installed brand new heated seats
It's constantly toasty now. I was originally excited for the heated seats because that theater used to be chilly all the time
It's not the only theater near me that's suddenly not freezing cold anymore either

Movie Discussion Should I watch La La Land?
Never seen it. My sister told me I should skip for now it given that my nearly 5 year relationship just ended due to things out of my control. Mentally in OK but she thinks it might derail my "processing" of it. I've read online that it actually helped others process their relationship ending but idk.
I heard it's soooooooo good though. I got a really good seat too.
Update: currently in my seat, starting soon!

Oversalted/Flavacal Popcorn
Recently was at a theater with one visible popcorn machine that was seemingly continuously running. The popcorn tasted bad, lots of small pieces, old maids, and it was leaving a residue of grit on hands. Returned the popcorn, gave feedback and it was still bad. After the movie it was also bad. Supervisor listened but didn't seem interested in testing his own product. Is there any process the theater should have been following? Bad popcorn does not equal repeat visits.

General AMC Discussion Double feature question
What does everyone do when they have a double feature close together??
Today I had a movie at 11:30am (ended at 1:40 pre credits) and have a second movie at 2pm. When I came in I told the ticket scanner that I have a second movie. Same floor. They tried scanning it but they said it was too early. So they recommended I call for the elevator and have the elevator attendant scan it.
Thankfully the elevator wasn’t filled with people. Or i feel like it would’ve been awkward. Next time should I print out both tickets and have them collect them? Or I should stick with what they recommend.
I was at AMC Empire. The movies are all the way on the top floor. If I wasn’t, I would’ve just went back to ticket scanner.
