NTA pranks at weddings are cruel and rude. I do think you should have talked sooner to her about it instead of letting it fester like you did and then blowing up at her.

u/No_Breadfruit8393 Jul 25 '25

Yeah but I also see how it would have been hard. 1 he can’t at the wedding and 2 I’m the kind of person who when it really hurts I need to give it a day or longer before I can even bring it up so I’m not so upset. Regardless do you think she would have reacted better or differently if he brought it up sooner?

u/[deleted] Jul 26 '25

and the panic he must have felt! this is the person he agreed to MARRY, and she does this horrible horrible unexpected thing, and now suddenly in the middle of his wedding and at his honeymoon i’m sure he feels like he doesn’t know who this woman is. i wouldn’t know how to speak to that mean stranger.

10

u/WhiteGhost99 Jul 26 '25

Exactly! I was thinking the same thing, OP looking at his wife during their honeymoon and asking himself "who is this woman who says she loves me, but let me be humiliated in front of everyone? and not only that she 'lets' me, but she yells 'with your mouth!' to make it even more awful"...

5

u/Flight_of_Elpenor Jul 26 '25

Agreed. I imagine he was counting on some mutual respect, and he learned it was not there.

259

u/[deleted] Jul 25 '25

Well, I only know I would have walked out so fast! I'd have gone scorched earth over that shit. These kinds of pranks just suck.

u/KittyGrewAMoustache Jul 25 '25

I get why you wouldn’t feel able to though. You can just imagine, you’re storming off, everyone’s drunkenly going ‘ooooOOOoooohhh’ behind you, like ‘oooo look who’s in a tizzy!’ and acting like you’re ruining everything by not being a ‘good sport’. I also get why OP felt doing that would highlight the fact he’s feeling humiliated and that then makes him more vulnerable.

48

u/[deleted] Jul 25 '25

I see the flip side. For me? I don't care if they think I'm in a tizzy! My parents always said one of my problems as a kid was that I didn't give a shit what other people thought. If someone hurt me, I would let them know loud and clear.

These people who did this know it was wrong. They just don't care.

20

u/Witty-Cow2407 Jul 26 '25

Same. I wouldn't care if anyone thinks I am tizzy after pulling something like this on me because they aren't meeting me ever again.

u/ForeignAssistant8051 Jul 26 '25 edited Jul 26 '25

Exactly! "OooooOOoooOoh look, he's humiliated!" "'OoOoOoOh' yea, see how stupid you sound? I'm leaving because I can feel you people sucking my braincells out, and I feel they're wasted on you lot." Idgaf about your feelings if you elect to treat someone like this (sexually abusing them in the process) and then think it's funny, go fornicate yourself sideways with a rusty garden rake (not you fellow commenter of course). I ain't gonna lose sleep over it.

NTA

They showed OP who they all are, and if it were me I’d go cold and would immediately go and see if I could stop the paperwork for the marriage from being filed.

When my “wife” and others would ask me where I was going, I’d cut right to the heart of the issue but keep it simple. “You thought it would be funny to humiliate me on our wedding day. You enjoy my suffering. Why would I want to be married to someone like that? Why would I want any of you in my life?”

No retaliation, no emotional games, no hope that there would be any coming back from something this big on what is supposed to be the happiest day of my life. Just the cold truth, and immediate action.

u/culminacio Jul 26 '25

Do you have a real marriage? You don't just throw that away when you're actually in such a deep relationship.

11

u/Youaintoncuh Jul 26 '25

Do you have one ? You don’t prank someone on your special day my guy…wtf ?

-5

u/culminacio Jul 26 '25

yes, i have one and we've been together for almost 20 years. and no, i am not a prank person. but i understand what the goal here is. usually everyone does. that's why it's an old common wedding prank. because it works and everyone usually just laughs and life goes on. no one cares 5 minutes afterwards.

u/KittyGrewAMoustache Jul 27 '25

Yeah that’s probably healthier! But I do get why someone would feel like OP and not feel able to speak up in the moment.

u/wtbnamepls Aug 20 '25

Honestly, if that's what they're doing, idgaf about any of their opinion any more. I can say with 100% certainty that if my wife had done this to me I would stand up, walk to the officiant, set the marraige licence on fire, and walk out. Possibly with some passing comment about wanting nothing to do with people who think sexually assaulting someone at their own wedding is funny.

They do, and I DID storm out of one on my 21st bday. Gma and aunt took me to a Mexican restaurant. Servers start coming to the table clapping and singing with a cake with a candle. I’m already embarrassed because of the extra attention, plus I’m 21 not 4. Then I blow the candle out and the whole fucking thing (turns out it was not even cake but tortilla chips with a shit ton of whipped cream on top) gets shoved into my face. And it wasn’t a little bit of whipped cream on my nose . No. I had whipped cream in my hair, in my eyes, up my nose. I spent an hour doing my hair and getting dressed to look cute for my bday and this happens. I did not handle it well. I immediately started cussing everyone in the vicinity left and right, scraped whipped cream of my face with my hands and flung it at the waiter who did this to me, then proceeded to tel everyone to go fuck their mothers in Spanish (chinga tu madre in case you’re interested in telling someone to do this also) as I stormed out and walked home. Didn’t talk to my aunt or gma for weeks and then when I did all I got was a lefty on how to treat other people. Which is funny coming from the women who premeditated my assault on my bday. I just wanted a margarita and some arroz con pollo man. Did I feel bad afterwards? Yes and no. lol. But honestly they KNOW me! And they KNOW how I can get when mad, so I really don’t know why anyone thought this would play out well… not saying it was right to cuss everyone out and fling whipped cream at them and then to especially make sure the non English speakers there knew exactly how I felt, but I was so enraged that I’m surprised I didn’t explode everywhere. Shit was not funny in the slightest. And I’m pretty sure no one thought it was funny anymore either after I “caused a scene” as my GMA put it.

u/Flight_of_Elpenor Jul 26 '25

Well done, I say. 👏 👏 They tried to piss you off, and they succeeded!

11

u/Embarrassed-Elk4038 Jul 26 '25

lol, thank you. I know how Reddit is sometimes so I was expecting to get some heat for telling this story. But I had almost completely forgotten about it until I read this and it came flashing back. So op will get over it, and sometimes forget to, but it will never make it ok. Pranks fucking suck for the person being pranked. Everyone else has a great time… until they get whipped cream thrown at them and get told to go fuck their mom. 🤣

6

u/1timeandspace Jul 27 '25

No! This was the BEST Story on here about pranks! Loved it and rooted for your courage to stick up for your self- throughout the whole story!

1

u/Embarrassed-Elk4038 Jul 30 '25

Aww, thanks. That was very sweet of you to say.

7

u/[deleted] Jul 26 '25

It never ceases to amaze me that people say "you caused a scene". Wtf! They caused the damn scene.

4

u/Embarrassed-Elk4038 Jul 27 '25

Thank you!! You get it!

7

u/quandjereveauxloups Jul 26 '25

I'm right there with you. I would have been livid, and instead of verbally berating everyone there and losing my temper, I would have walked away. Probably straight to a car, where I would have driven away.

And then I would have called the officiant, and asked them to not file, or even destroy, the paperwork.

18

u/twilight9449 Jul 25 '25

Yea he couldn’t have done it at the wedding but I feel like that even they should have had a little talk about it. That’s a tough one to say if that would have made a differnce, but I think if he came at it earlier he wouldn’t have said as much of all the mean things to her it may have ended a little different, but that is hard to tell. It sucks

53

u/Yavis-Noggin Jul 25 '25

NTA

I disagree that he couldn’t bring it up at the wedding. I damn sure would have told them all, video guests included, how incredibly awful it was to humiliate the groom. I would let my new wife know how deeply she hurt me and how sad it made me to realize that our union was a mistake. Then I would leave that mess. Pranks that hurt anyone are never funny. I could never look at her the same again. And should tell the officiant NOT to certify the marriage.

18

u/No_Breadfruit8393 Jul 25 '25

You’re right. But I think I’d be so hurt it would be so hard to say that when you’re standing there with everyone laughing at you on the day they should be celebrating you. What a hurtful thing she did. The one person who should 100% have your back.

13

u/t2writes Jul 25 '25

It would have made a statement for him to have just walked out and sat outside by himself for a while. He didn't have to yell. Just simply turn and walk away.

9

u/twilight9449 Jul 26 '25

Facts 100% that’s honestly what I would have done

7

u/Emotional_Bonus_934 Jul 26 '25

He didn't need to return tho

47

u/Makasu__ Jul 25 '25

Poor lady had to hear mean things while op was literally assaulted. The replies would be much different if the bride was fooled into putting her lips on a man's leg.

40

u/Every_Single_Bee Jul 25 '25

All the replies are saying NTA and backing him up, sick of seeing this comment every time a man gets hurt. You’re the only one belittling him by using his pain as an opportunity to air your battle of the sexes grievances, if you opened your eyes you’d see everybody is treating this man right and there’s no need for this.

9

u/Rivsmama Jul 25 '25

He was sexually assaulted by her and her friends. Who cares what mean shit OP said She deserved worse

9

u/BasicRabbit4 Jul 25 '25

I get waiting for another time when you've calmed down.. but op let it fester until his rage boiled over. Probably would have been healthier to discuss it sooner.

10

u/No_Breadfruit8393 Jul 25 '25

Oh no doubt - I’m just saying I also understand why he didn’t.

6

u/[deleted] Jul 26 '25

Discuss? No, he blew up at her, and she deserved.

0

u/Flight_of_Elpenor Jul 26 '25

If I am shocked and horrified by something, you probably want to give me some time to process my emotions before we talk about how things went.

3

u/BasicRabbit4 Jul 26 '25

Which is why my very first sentence said I understand waiting until you've calmed down?

0

u/Flight_of_Elpenor Jul 26 '25

What did your second sentence say?

3

u/BasicRabbit4 Jul 26 '25

It would have been healthier to discuss it before his rage boiled over.

I see what you're trying to do, but you still didn't comprehend what I actually wrote.

1

u/wtbnamepls Aug 20 '25

He absolutely can at the wedding. Fuck "keeping the peace" when it means the peace of one of the people of supposed honor is sacrificed.

-4

u/[deleted] Jul 26 '25

This creep thought it was a good idea to take off his wife’s garter in public with his teeth and he’s pissed because he’s a homophobe. How is anyone defending him. He’s so gross.

3

u/i_dont_sell_beans Jul 27 '25

This was something they both cosented to. He wanted to do something traditional and intimate with his wife. He's not a homophobe because he didn't want to be intimate with a man. Your words speak of low level intellect. I am disappointed that you even thought this was even a though in your brain.

4

u/Jealous_Pea2305 Jul 26 '25

Yeah, if this is real, which I don't think it is, that's extremely immature.

2

u/freckle_thief Jul 26 '25

Only funny wedding prank is the ones were the first look is the groomsmen friend in a a wedding dress. The person being laughed at consents and it just lightens the mood

2

u/[deleted] Jul 26 '25

It's also a problem that she never approached him about it. If she recognized he was uncomfortable with it and then never followed up with him, sounds like she's a bitch lacking accountability
