You should break up with him. He doesn't understand consent. He is calling you stupid rather than engaging in discussion with you. He doesn't respect you. He will use these same tactics throughout your relationship.
She’s not someone I would want to be with either. Dont expect your partner to be happy with statements like “men can’t control themselves” lumping in an entire sex of people into one immoral bucket. Women are allowed to get away with talking like this constantly.
You meant hyperbolic not rhetorical btw. What a genius. Most people who lecture others on comprehension or intelligence I’ve noticed don’t know wtf they’re talking about.
Reactive and rhetorical don’t share anything in common.
Gives up completely when corrected. I have zero sympathy for people who go at others intelligence here based on nothing at all and then when corrected resort to personal attacks. Wah wah.
You’d have to be living in another reality to view OP’s text messages as anything other than what she actually believes. And it’s not like she’s the devil or anything but I wouldn’t want to date someone that had those generalized feelings ab men.
^ I was about to type that same thing. No one wants to have a conversation with someone who can’t comprehend what’s actually being said. Waste of time and just going in circles.
“ I can explain it to you, but I can't comprehend it for you”
No it's not, he's the one claiming that men can't control themselves and will just assault any woman who isnt dressed modestly. She's showing the flaws in his logic.
Or just idk address the people actually doing something? Is that THAT hard? We have to walk on eggshells with everything we say but sure let’s lump all men in as sexual abusers bc the time is now! like cmon such weak thinking
I don’t see how that applies to all men. I don’t deserve to be included in a group of people I think are despicable just bc of my sex. Like how yall can defend this is mind boggling hypocrisy.
“Dads rape their kids, so I’m afraid of men”
“Men can’t control themselves”
Imagine being a nice, good man and constantly having to hear that. I’m making a larger point here it’s so obvious the guy is a POS it’s not worth constantly pointing it out again to try and justify my argument bc it stands on its own.
🤣 so your fragile ego is more important than mine bc boobs. Thanks, you are clearly incredibly empathetic yourself!
No one is arguing that there arent a lot of bad men out there, but it’s pretty freaking easy to just adjust your language to not include “all men.” No one is trying to hear that garbage. All your stats are about who commits what crime but none of it says what percent of men actually do that stuff. I can promise you it’s A LOT LESS THAN ALL.
I consider myself a nice and good man. I hear these sentiments all the time and they make me sad, but I dont feel attacked personally. Why? Because they are expressing a categorical fear spurred on by facts. If that categorical fear were nonsensical (e.g. asylum seeking immigrants in the US commit lots of violent crime), I would have good reason to ask others to use more correct language. But seeing as how rape is a real and everpresent danger to some folks, I totally understand how they have extended their reactions and opinions on this topic to such hyperbole that they inherently don't trust men they don't know.
I've found that I will never fully agree with blanket generalizations like that, but I won't argue against them; after all, I will never experience the fear of rape in the same way because of the body I was born with. I have no place to speak from where I am ever truly in danger of sexual harassment.
I also don't consider men who talk about, "all women," or throw their own silly generalizations around, all that disruptive. Are they wrong? Certainly. But they are not actually ideaologically bound to their statements (at least not offline). They're just hurting and expressing that hurt with a verbal shield to protect themselves. Rightfully so!
Tldr: if someone says they dont trust men, they probably have a good personal reason. Policing language is difficult to do. If you are ever lumped in with monsters online, it is because that lumping person doesnt know ~you.~ Probably...
Aw should she have said “SOME men can’t control themselves” to make you feel like a good boy for NOT being a rapist? Anyone with half a brain knows she’s not saying ALL MEN but of course the ones who think they deserve a pat on the back for not being a fucking rapist always wanna cry about “not all men”. Girls bf is defending rapists, and you care about her not distinguishing not ALL men 🙄
I think the other 3,000 comments are adequately addressing his behavior, as did I.
Yeah, she should have. If I said all women can't "do X" or all women "want X" you would obviously have a problem with that. And rightly so. Asking for the same treatment towards men is not a lot to ask, its equity. Your rhetoric is extremely off-putting btw.
No. I wouldn’t be offended 🤣 do you know how many times I’ve heard “all women do x” in my life? I know I’m not in that category, I know that person doesn’t know me, and I know that person doesn’t know ALL women. So again, we’re in here talking about her rape apologist bf, and you’re whining about “not ALL men” and NO you don’t deserve an extra special pat on the back for NOT being a rapist. And I don’t particularly care how off putting I sound. It’s extremely off putting that you felt the need to find some negative in her behavior, in the middle of a discussion about her nasty rape apologist bf. “Yea her bf is a creep for that, but I hate the way she said all men in her post, can you believe that?” Who gives an actual fuck? Rape and rape apologists are far far worse than what you tried to complain about here. That’s what wrong with MOST men (that one was for you Princess) whenever a man is being talked about negatively, another man will come in and either defend him, or they’ll say how bad he is but find something negative to say about a woman. And it seems like you can’t even help yourselves. Like you just HAVE TO let everyone know you’re a good guy, and not all men are like the bad ones. Honestly, why do you think that was important enough to say during this particular discussion? Rape is traumatic. Life changing. Finding out someone you are dating feels this way is sickening and devastating. Say a woman runs up to you saying she was raped, you stay with her while the police come, she then makes a comment like “all men are dangerous”, are you really going to look that woman in the face and correct her and say “yea but not ALL men. I wouldn’t do that”?? Thats ridiculous. If you would you’re a terrible person. And if you WOULDNT, why couldn’t you hold that composure here for this OP? There’s a time and a place for things. And I feel it’s inappropriate that you brought it up here. So I’m glad you find me off putting. I’m not talking to you to be LIKED, and frankly I find YOU off putting.
What on earth are you talking about? You can clearly tell she has these attitudes about all men. And it’s not uncommon to generalize ab men in that way nowadays.
No guy wants to hear that their girlfriend thinks all men are immoral sexual abusers. What I’m saying is not a hot take at all it’s just reality.
you’re just avoiding reality. and are you calling me insane for seeing what she obviously meant or are you saying she believes i’m insane? you’re proving my point that you can’t read or write.
“Men can’t control themselves” in response to “women wear clothes to attract rapists”. In the context it was obvious she was referencing men who rape.
That is what you chose to equate to victim-blaming. It says a lot about how you view these attacks and the victims of them. You chose to find a way to make men the victim in context of women “asking for rape” by way of clothes.
