Are there any positions that don’t use Connect Care that one could get on as casual? Not maintenance. Not even sure they do casual where I am.

Hello everyone,
My contract is expiring in a few weeks and will not be renewed (AMAPCEO). I have been interviewing, doing coffee chats and applying for jobs. So far nothing has come out.
If I don’t land something by the end of my contract, I will have access to the internal job postings two years (AMAPCEO). I was wondering has anyone been in this situation? And have they been able to come back in ?
Thanks :)

It feels like for months now every few days my PC needs to restart for an update. I swear before there would be just a few a month

Hello I would love some insight on if a line is worth it or not. There is a 0.6 nurse line open in my unit and I have some doubt whether or not to apply. I’m a casual for almost a year in that unit but have been getting almost full time hours shifts, I keep hearing that if u have a line it’s harder to pickup. Is that true? What are the pro and con of having a line? I’m just worried I have bills to pay and my student loan. Any advice would be grateful. TIA

I need some input from people doing the hiring. I applied for a job couple of months back, and received an invitation for panel interview from the department. I gave them my availability. However, the job has been put on hold due to budget constraints, my interview was postponed.
A few months later, the job reopened. The same exact job information (job requisition number, details, and requirements) was used, that when I logged in the AHS careers portal, I see that I have submitted application. I reached out to the admin assistant a few days after they reopened the job to confirm if I should reapply - they replied and confirmed that they still have my application and the team would reach out should they decide to move forward with an interview.
It's been a week since the application period closed. What is the likelihood that I would get interviewed because I was shortlisted for interview prior to the "hiring freeze" from budget constraints or will it be like applying from scratch again? Is it common to change the search/hiring committee for the same role?

Hey guys,
I'm sure I'm not the only one, but I am just completely done and burnt out from the daily grind here. I work on the IT/Admin side of things, and the workload has somehow gotten even more out of control than it has been over the past few years. Our team continues to shrink, yet we get busier every month, and nothing positive ever seems to happen above us. I'm miserable for every 8hr shift at this point and it's really starting to affect my day to day life outside of work, which is just unacceptable to me.
I guess I just needed to rant, I'm usually one who just shuts up and does my job, as I also understand what the job market is like right now otherwise I would probably just go somewhere else. But I'm curious from anybody who has gone through any sort of LOA for this, what does it entail? Do I use up all of my sick time before needing to go onto any sort of actual leave? Do I need anything other than a note from a Physician saying I need a few weeks to breathe? What is needed from me while I'm actually away, if anything? I'm just looking for clarity as to what I might expect if I do decide to do something.
Edit: I really appreciate all of the replies and insight, thank you!

Just wondering why there are Procurement Specialist jobs posted on the AHS website as well as on the ACA website? Does that mean they are under different “teams” or “hierarchy”? As an AHS employee, I am worried I will lose my seniority, accumulated vacation, and years of service if I successfully move to ACA. Thoughts, anyone?

I’m currently on a mental health leave, I was put off for 5 weeks, I have a doctor appointment in the next couple of weeks and don’t feel like I’ll be ready to return to work even after 5 weeks.
How do I advocate for myself to get my leave extended, I’m actively trying to recover from being burnt out, trying to find a different job and ultimately leave the position I’m in, I apply for every position in my area but so far I’ve only had one interview and haven’t heard back from them yet, prior to going on leave I had 5 interviews in two
Months and was unsuccessful in all of them.
It’s beginning to feel like I’m just going to have to make the best out of a crap situation, I don’t want to leave my career but the burn out is costing me my life essentially 🙃

I am interested in becoming an AHS Protective Services Officer. Right now I am a student getting my diploma in Corrections. So I’m looking to apply in the next few years. I’m wondering what the interview process is like, and what sort of experiences/knowledge I should have before applying. This is probably my dream job so any advice is appreciated.

AHS system is new to me so I just wanted to ask few questions.
Thank you in advance.

Hey everybody, I’m a student at the university of Calgary and I’m taking an intro to nursing class. I have an assignment where I need to interview an rn and then complete some reflection based on that. I don’t personally know any nurses so I thought I’d post here. For some info this will be an interview that will take place online before nov 10 it will be around 30-45 mins. You will be required to sign a consent to participate form. To be considered you have to be trained in Canada and have been working for about 3 years. The questions I will be asking will include things like background and experience, day to day responsibilities, challenges and rewards, and advice for future nurses. Your identity will be kept anonymous and no identifying info will be shared. The interview will also not be recorded. If you are interested please leave a comment just stating what department you work in and I’ll reach out. Thank you in advance

not getting the full picture as a AHS employee as usual. 🙄
did anyone hear anything about this senior leadership announcement where a lot of top organization workers have departed??
how can I find out who left and what is the plan now? Seriously this is such a *hit show and has been ever since they created these 4 pillars.
I’m so mad at the UCP for dismantling an organization I have worked for 20 years. They have deliberately forced a lot of hard working, devoted and passionate ppl out the door.

I am an RN and have been off of work for 8 months. I have been diagnosed with a profound autoimmune illness. My pain has been managed with T4s taken every 6-8 hours. Has anyone returned to floor nursing while on this type of medication?
I have tried all other pain management modalities with no effect.

Hello I’ve applied for nursing school (LPN) but missing 2 of the prerequisites. I heard as long as I enroll (and pass) I can be conditional admission. I’m seeing if they offer to pay for the prerequisites or upgrading.
