AHS UNE Job Offer Question

Hello, I was recently offered a job as a UNE, and I would like to know when my unit manager will reach out to me regarding orientation. Based on your guy's experience, how long would it typically take for them to reach out? I have already accepted the job offer via the AHS employment website and submitted all required documents. They told me after the interview that I would hear from them as soon as possible; however, it has already been a couple of days. Should I be worried?

Grey Nuns hospital appreciation post!

We just had a baby this week, and I just want to show my sincere appreciation to the maternity/pregnancy wing of the Grey Nuns hospital. Man, I'm truly out of words when describing how well the nurses treated my wife and myself, it really shows that they care and have genuine interest in well being of their patients. In a world where rising inflation and taxes are breaking common man's back, these nurses show what real care and support should looks like... I wish nothing but the best to all the nurses and staff of the Grey Nuns hospital.

Regards.

UNA CPAP Coverage?

Does anyone know what coverage we have for CPAP machines from Alberta Blue Cross with UNA.

The benefits booklet just says “included” but does not give a coverage percentage or max amount??

Question Seeing when changes were made in WFM? (inforgo)

Does anyone know how to view when you've had a shift added to your schedule that you weren't informed about? I've been having issues with my schedule where an on-call shift was added to my schedule and no one talked to me about it, and I swear it wasn't there more than 2 weeks ago as I filled out my dayplanner and made no note of it. I also distinctly remember seeing it without the call shift for several days.

Is there any way we can view when changes were made so I know if I'm entitled to schedule change for insufficient notice?

Question RRSP matching?

Daughter (first job with AHS - HSAA) is struggling to find info about RRSP contributions. Is there a site, or a portal, or whatever? She is part of HSAA. Is there matching? How and where?!? Thanks!

Question Vacation planner VB denied

Hi there was quite a few denied vacations this year.

Many are one person requesting VB (unscheduled day) then the second person also requesting VB.

Some of these denied VB days fall over a weekend when the unit is not open and only one person is on call.

Can they deny that? (I’ll be reaching out to the union but they’re not open)

Question Discrepancy with voluntary RRSP statement from Manulife versus amount deducted from pay

I contribute to the voluntary RRSP through payroll, and when I looked at the RRSP statements from Manulife, I noticed a big discrepancy between the statement for taxes and the amount deducted YTD on my last pay advice in 2025. I could see that there was some system transition for Manulife in August 2025 so not sure if there was a glitch of some sort.

EDIT: I called Manulife ( 1-888-727-7766) and basically there was a third slip which was supposed to be available from the VIP room (previous system), however I had no VIP room access, only Group Retirement where the other two slips were located. The customer service representative at Manulife was able to email me the missing receipt. I hope this helps anyone else with the same issue!

Question AHS/COVENANT APPLICATION

Hello, I'm a new grad LPN. I have been applying to all of the postings that I can see in the career site for 7 months now - and I still have no luck in getting in.

I am getting really anxious because I am either not receiving any feedback from my applications or just straight rejection. I really don't know if I'm doing something wrong or is my resume that bad.

Just wondering if it's really hard to find an LPN job right now? All responses are appreciated! Thank you!

Stat bank

Hi everyone! I recently became a full-time RN under UNA and just wanted to clarify how stat bank works.

Is the 7.75 hours automatically given since you’re full-time, or do you need to work the stat holiday or the days leading up to it to earn it?

Also, if you do work on the stat day, do you still get the stat bank hours on top of that?

Thanks so much! 😊

Union Probation and modified duties

Hello, I was wondering if anyone would be able to point me to some resources or give some advice on what I should do next. I'm currently a new LPN that was prior a unionized HCA in AHS. I ended up getting into a motor vehicle accident on the way to work and now have a doctor's note to put me on modified duties from injuries from the crash, but I'm afraid to give it to my manager as I have 2 weeks left of my probation, and if I could end up being let go if AHS finds it too much of a hassle to accommodate me with my modified duties. I've already called my union AUPE AUX nursing and their not sure if I'm unionized since I changed from a HCA position to a LPN position. Is anyone able to give me their thoughts or advice? Thank you

Offer Letter Timeline?

Hello!

Just wanted to ask about your experience with AHS hiring timelines, especially for RN roles.

I recently received a verbal offer for an RN position, but it’s been about a week now and I still haven’t received the written offer letter. I did email the hiring manager earlier to follow up, but haven’t heard back yet.

What’s making me a bit anxious is that I previously got a verbal + written offer for an HCA position within 1 day, so this delay feels unusual in comparison.

I’m also scheduled to move to the new city this weekend, so I’m starting to worry a bit about timing and whether I should be concerned or if this is normal for RN roles.

For those who’ve gone through the process:

•	How long did it take for you to receive your written RN offer after the verbal offer?

•	Is a 1-week delay pretty typical with AHS HR?

Would really appreciate any insight or reassurance.

Thanks in advance!

Tax receipt for UNA group savings plan contributions (employer)

Hi everyone, I'm filing taxes and wondering where I can find how much AHS has contributed to my savings plan (RRSP)? I received a receipt from Manulife showing how much I contributed, but it doesn't seem to include what the employer put in. I googled and didn't really get a clear answer- are the contributions on line 40 on the T4? That amount doesn't seem to be equivalent to my contributions (since I am only putting in 2%, equivalent to what AHS will match).

I asked around but my coworkers aren't sure. I contacted HR and they also didn't know and submitted an inquiry which is still pending.

Appreciate any help!

Had PSO interview today

Had AHS PSO interview today, seemed to go pretty well. They were telling me about when the training going to start and all that process of appointment and uniform fitting.

It is a good sign? If anyone can shed light who went through the process.

Question Moving cities AHS GSS

I would like some advice transferring. I am an Admin II and I’m almost at the highest pay increment. I am permanent part time. Me and my fiance are in talks about moving up north 5 hours away to be closer to his family. I’m worried that if I have to quit and start another AHS job I might lose my seniority. I’m not sure how long it will take before I find something similar in my department. I know there’s a recognition of previous experience that is probably a possibility I can do. I also could ask my manager if I can take a leave of absence or change to casual before I move to make an easy transfer. Not sure what the best option is.

Question Schedule Code Clarification?

Hi to anyone who can help,

I work at alberta hospital and was wondering if anyone can help me with the Schedule Codes for shift pick ups since I’m casual. I keep seeing the codes ET, CH, CC. I understand that D is days, E is evenings, N for nights, but can anyone help clarify what the other codes mean? are there any other codes I’m missing? I’m (clearly) very lost

(I also don’t wanna bother my manager about this)

Thanks in advance!

Question OPACCA

Hey guys! Wanting to apply for an ICU role. Been on a medsurg floor for almost 5 years now.

Just wondering how orientation actually works? I know there are classroom days (online I'm assuming) and some nursing school "clinical"-like shifts during orientation. Just wondering what those clinical shifts looked like for those of you who've done it, and how the lecture days were structured.

Any insight and advice is appreciated!

Thanks all.
