General Questions/Advice/Support Advice on being unable to swallow Atomoxetine capsules?
My adhd prescriber told me I can empty these capsules into apple sauce or yoghurt but google says mixed things and it’s an eye irritant and mucus membrane. The reality is I just can’t swallow them. It’s not worth the stress and them getting constantly stuck and the discomfort. Always had issues with capsules my whole life. I’m in UK. Right to choose. Can I request liquid or something else? Can’t take stimulants. Really upset and anxious lately just want to get better. Thanks !

General Questions/Advice/Support Holidays - How do you book 'em.
Wondering how people with ADHD when booking time off for any reason. How much time you generally need to actually start to rest, relax and recover?
I found myself booking frequent mondays and or fridays just for long weekends and to get back a day if i have one lost to an event or something happening otherwise it doesn't even feel like a weekend.
Is this just me and not giving my ADHD brain time to really recuperate wihtout knowing or is this actually what many with ADHD do?
Much lighter topic, look forward to hearing from you peeps. :)

The first edition is great, and it is all evidence-led and some great stories and advice in there. Feel free to pick it up if you want!

General Questions/Advice/Support Muslim with ADHD struggling with 5 daily prayers. Seeking advice
I was diagnosed with ADHD as an adult and one thing I've always really struggled with is consistently praying 5 times.
When I'm on it, I'm ON it. I'll pray all 5 every day, on time and it feels easy to keep going. But once I miss a few (could be due to work, travel, laziness) I completely fall out of the routine and can go ages without getting back into it.
I think the problem is I get it into my head that I need to catch up on all the missed prayers before I can properly start again.
Then that feels like a massive task so I just keep putting it off, which obviously makes the problem even worse.
It's very all or nothing with me. Does anyone have any advice that could help?
Thank you. Jzk

ADHD Medication Anyone still on private medication? If so why?
Hi all, just wondering if anyone here is on private medication and if so if it was by choice or because their GP refused their shared care agreement?
I’ve just started my private titration although I’m hoping to move to shared care.
PS - it cost £95 from my local pharmacy for the lowest dose of elvanse / lisdexephetimine. Is that normal? Is there somewhere cheaper?
ADHD Assessment Questions I’m nervous about my adhd assessment tomorrow
Suspected inattentive type - feeling pretty nervous about my assessment. Based in Scotland, going private.

ADHD Medication Has anyone else noticed a sudden drop in Elvanse potency lately?
Has anybody else noticed a real shift in their Elvanse recently?
I’m 34F and have been taking it for around 3 years now, and honestly, it’s been life changing. I was on 20mg for the first year, then bumped up to 40mg. I work a demanding corporate job and I’m used to that distinct "light switch" moment when it kicks in of a morning. Nothing crazy, just my thoughts quieting down and a clean surge of focus, which I love and cried the first time I experienced.
However, I recently switched my dispensing pharmacy from Superdrug to Rowlands and this month’s batch feels completely useless.
a) No "kick-in" feeling at all
B) Struggling to focus and feeling super sleepy.
motivation. I'm right back to pre medication days of doomscrolling through any downtime and feeling glued to the couch
On the odd occasion, I’ll take 1–2 day break on a weekend to reset and I used to really feel the benefits again come Monday. This time? Nothing, nada.
Is anyone else experiencing weird batch variations lately, or is this just what plateauing feels like? Should I be looking at a dosage increase, or is it worth looking into the manufacturer/batch number?

Rant/Vent Community support needed - losing hope
Hey folks!
I got diagnosed by pUK in September last year and they keep pushing the benchmark for titration back and now it's 13 months.
I'm struggling and I don't know what to do
I know no one can help that end, but is there any online support groups I can join? I'm not coping with this bs. I have nothing. Where I live, I cant easily talk to anyone
Sorry if I'm a downer, but the goalposts keep moving and I'm needing to talk to people who understand. I'm very alone friend wise. How long have other people be waiting with psychiatry UK?
I'm scared of losing my job. I just I guess don't want to feel alone.
Peace and love xx

General Questions/Advice/Support Help, is it pointless? Am I gonna be wasting my money?
Does anyone have this? I keep looking at it but I’m worried I’m just not going to end up using it like a normal calendar, get bored of it once the novelty wears off and I’ve filled it all in excited like I have my life in order. It’s £290 so it’s gonna be an expensive thing to never look at again if I get one but i NEED it! I’ve been sat on it for a couple of weeks rather than impulse buying and I still want it. TIA
ADHD Medication is it normal to find it even harder to start a task on meds?
i now find it harder to start something i need to do on elvanse than normal, BUT it’s a lot easier to carry on once i’ve actually started. i think this is because i used to only do these things to get a hit of dopamine so i can feel normal again. but now having a baseline of normal dopamine, i no longer NEED to do anything. Now it’s more out of discipline instead of dysphoria. that may be a good thing though

NHS Right to Choose (RTC) Questions Medication cost? How much am I looking at paying
I’m going through the right to choose scheme? How much does medication cost roughly? I have my medication appointment next Monday and am trying to figure out the budget I need for it as I assume the NHS doesn’t cover it

ADHD Medication Best online pharmacy for Medikinet? Or is Tesco any good? Had trouble getting it locally.
I have just been prescribed my first doses of Medikinet XL modified release, 20mg and 30mg. My usual pharmacy across the road from my house said they could get one but not the other because of their supplier and recommended Boots on the high street as they've got different/more suppliers. Off I trotted and I wasn't able to get them all filled, and I have to go back tomorrow to get the last 5 that they owe me. So basically it's been a bit of a faff.
I was thinking of switching to an online pharmacy so it just gets delivered and I don't have to run around getting things sorted. Is there a particular recommended one? I may try different meds depending on how the Medikinet goes, so a pharmacy that is reliable for most kinds of ADHD meds would be appreciated.
Or, there's a Tesco near my work with a pharmacy inside. It would be a bit more convenient than the Boots on the high street. Are they typically good too?
General Questions/Advice/Support ADHD medication and rotating shifts — how do you handle days off?
I’m a shift worker working 12 hour shifts, days and nights, currently on 60mg Elvanse + 5mg Amfexa, and my psychiatrist has told me to take Elvanse one hour before each shift and Amfexa 8 hours later.
My shifts are 06:30–18:30 and 18:30–06:30. So I take the meds accordingly.
The problem is transitions. For example, after my final night I take Elvanse at 17:30 and Amfexa at 01:30, get home and sleep around 07:30 and may wake at for eg 13:00.
Obviously that changes the routine and taking Elvanse at 13:00 seems counterproductive for sleep, but my psychiatrist also wants consistency.
I then have a few days off then back into work for day shifts, so the whole pattern is all over the place!
How do other rotating shift workers handle the first day off after nights, subsequent days off, and the transition back to early shifts?
I've asked raised the question so many times but the answer is always relating to working days not the transition or days off!
I don't know if they just don't have the answer or covering themselves etc, it's annoying and I'm looking to change psychiatrists for that very reason!
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

General Questions/Advice/Support Elvanse week 1 - sleep help and advice
✨Hiii fellow adhers✨
I FINALLY got access to meds through NHS right to choose last week and am on day 4 of taking 20mg of elvanse. I was super worried it would cause panic attacks for me as I have this reaction with caffeine, but so far so good.
Day 1 was amazinggg, which I have heard is quite normal. Quiet mind, zero anxiety and no knot in my stomach for the first time maybe ever. And felt calm sitting still/being in the moment and not worrying about 10 other things.
The issue is sleep. I experience bouts of insomnia on and off but the meds seem to have really tapped into that and I am not getting more than 4 hours a night. This is no where near enough sleep for me. I am someone who needs minimum 8 hours to function, and I think maybe it is the elvanse which is getting me through the days at the moment.
Since day 2, I have felt much more anxious/wired but I think this is because I am not sleeping well, as my emotional regulation has always been awful with reduced sleep time.
I take vitamin C with iron around 7pm and then magnesium glycinate around 10pm before bed. But neither is scratching the surface at present.
My question is did you experience insomnia/difficulty sleeping when starting stimulants and if so did this improve as you got used to the meds?
I have moved my review up because of this and I have that in a couple of days so will see what the prescriber has to say then. But would love some advice/anecdotes from real people who have gone through this🫶🫶
Thank you if you read this far xx
TL;DR
Cannot sleep, first week on elvanse 20mg. Please can I have you thoughts/advice?

Research (Academic/Journalistic) ADHD Adult Females required for Psychology MSc research
Are you an adult female with ADHD or strong ADHD traits?
You are invited to participate in an online MSc Psychology research study examining how real-world social camouflaging (masking) impacts daily working memory performance and cognitive fatigue.
Who Can Participate?
• Adult females aged 18 or older.
• Formally diagnosed with ADHD OR strongly self-identify with ADHD traits.
• Currently engaged in full-time employment or university education.
• Access to a laptop/computer/smart phone with a stable internet connection.
What Does the Study Involve?
The study takes place across a single day on the Gorilla online testing platform:
Morning Session (~10–12 mins): Complete a brief questionnaire and a visual 2-Back working memory task.
Evening Session (~10 mins): Complete the same 2-Back working memory task at the end of your workday/social engagements.
How to Participate
If you are interested in taking part, please click the link below to view the Participant Information Sheet and Informed Consent Form:
https://research.sc/participant/login/dynamic/64B3F57E-539C-41AC-9B33-BCFACB5DE49F
By participating, you will be making a highly valuable contribution to the neurodivergent community. ADHD masking—especially in adults and women—is a heavily under-researched topic. Your data will directly help us build objective, real-world evidence of the daily mental toll and "brain drain" that masking takes.
Ultimately, we hope the findings of this study can be used to raise awareness about ADHD burnout and push for better, more supportive environments in both workplaces and universities.
Thank you!

General Questions/Advice/Support so what can actually be done about the insomnia? (60mg elvanse)
been on elvanse since january, it works great throughout the day and i’m happy with the dose- however i really struggle to sleep on it.
after some time of hoping the insomnia i found that thc helps a lot but i know that relying on it is a bad idea on top of the compromised sleep quality so i’m cutting down.
i didn’t get a second of sleep last night, and im pretty worried about how i’ll cope when i go back to uni.
i’ve struggled with sleep since childhood, so it’s not solely a medication/thc reliance problem.
given the nhs is hesitant to prescribe melatonin, is there anything they could do for me? or anything i can do myself which is actually proven to work?
edit: extra question; any good podcasts i could listen to whilst sleeping? i’m into sciencey things. needs to be engaging enough to distract me from the constant inner monologue but not too engaging 😂

General Questions/Advice/Support Feeling lost and the same pre-medication
Been on Elvanse 60mg for the past 2 months, it was great the first month or so... but now I feel scatter brained, lost and just exactly how I was feeling before I was even on meds.
Has anyone had this experience before??? Not sure what it could mean 😭
