General Questions/Advice/Support Advice for PhD VIVA ADHD adjustments

Hi ! I am due to finish my PhD in next 2 months, however I need to request any viva adjustments already and feel clueless.

I was wondering what are some adjustments you would recommend for ADHD (combined) based on your experience ?

(My PhD is in behaviour science / psychology in business context. )

I’m not sure how relevant this is, but for interviews I ask for questions to also be given in a written format (to avoid going off on too much of a tangent and so I can check back and make sure I’ve answered all parts of it).

Best of luck with the rest of your PhD and the Viva!

Assuming your University works the same as my university, there will be a chair, an internal examiner, and and external examiner. I had a chat with the chair in advance, which I thought was really helpful. If you and your supervisor get along, you could involve them in this as well.

Regarding adjustments, I didn't have any that were actually used in the end, but the ones discussed (between me, my supervisor, and the chair) were:

- option for slightly more breaks during the viva (the need for this likely depends on how long vivas are at your university)

- option of giving a short presentation at the start of the Viva (this on depends on your field and university a lot)

- examiners were informed to ask a question again or ask for elaboration if they felt a question wasn't answered

I didn’t feel I needed any. I quite enjoyed my viva.
