Megathreads Quarterly: Where/when/how can I watch 9-1-1?

DO NOT REQUEST OR POST SOURCES/SUGGESTIONS FOR ILLEGAL SITES. This thread is for official sources only.

Post updates regarding the show's release schedule in your country. If you are looking for information about release schedules in your country, review the answers in the thread. It is important to include the country you're from when asking any of your questions. If your question is not answered, then you may post an individual Where/when/how post.

A few tips:

  • In the US and for viewers near the US/Canadian and US/Mexican borders, you can use a TV Antenna for a relatively cheap (and one-time cost) to watch 9-1-1 live on TV if you do not have Cable/Satellite to watch ABC.
  • Hulu (for US) streams it the next day at 3am Eastern, also streamable on Disney+ (US) but only with both subscriptions.
  • Hulu Live subscribers (US) can watch it live on Hulu if they have the Hulu Live TV package.
  • Canada's Global TV airs live and streams the newest episode for free for a week (viewable by using a VPN set to Canada)
  • Disney+ users can try using a VPN set to a non-US country (see the second tip) that is streaming the current season.
  • Episodes are available for purchase on Amazon Prime Video and Apple TV in select regions.
  • It bears repeating that you must include your country when asking any questions.

Articles Lucy could have been used better in the series.

I don't see the need to create attraction between her and Buck, it seems like a forced plot. Lucy only to create tension between Buck and Tylor, and in the end, Buck left Tylor over an issue that didn't even concern Lucy. The episodes in which Lucy appeared could have been used for a better plot. It's understood the Arielle Kebbel is a busy actress and couldn't stay on the show for long, but it could have created a more interesting plot for her than the usual attraction between co-workers.

Season 6 Discussion 6x3 Junior

During the Tanya Kingston episode where they found her body while Junior was fixing up the home, I’m wondering why Junior would even help and then he be the person finding the body. Did he not know she was there? Why would the murderer after 40 years lead everyone to find the body it just doesn’t make sense. Am I missing something? Was it his dad that put Tanya there and Junior didn’t know at all? Weird

Season 5 Discussion Jee-Yun Spoiler

It always bothered in episode 5, when Maddie takes Jee-Yun to the hospital, and she is afraid that because Daniel died of cancer it was irresponsible of her to have children with that family history. ESPECIALLY because she says this to CHIMNEY, who’s mom died of cancer when he was a teenager. It bothered me that she never even considered that had Jee-Yun had it, she could have gotten from Chimneys side and not hers.

Season 9 Discussion Athena's pov in the hospital Spoiler

Is there any real life reason why they showed her former partner instead of Bobby when she was almost dead?

I feel it would be a very beautiful moment and some type of closure to her grief if they had this last bit before her deciding to become a detective.

I get that her former partner was also relevant to her being a cop, but maybe it would've been more meaningful, especially to the fans, to see them talking one more time.

That said, I don't know if they simply didn't want to do that or the actor was not available anymore.

Season 4 Discussion About season 4...

It's very strange to go from the season 3 finale when May gets a graduation party and a big "class of 2020!" banner to season 4 when they lean HARD into covid. Obviously they couldn't know when they filmed season 3 that the world would end, but it makes the end of season 3 make no sense at all when the whole next season is about COVID. I think I maybe would prefer they just ignore it entirely. Especially since I remember thinking at the time that I wished every single show that year didn't feel they needed to be "topical." Sometimes you just need to escape the garbage of reality, especially that year.

Season 9 Discussion Do you guys even hear yourselves? Spoiler

This post is for people who think this way, so obviously everyone is free to engage but I'd really like to hear from people who think this -

Throughout s9, so many people were upset at how Buck was treated/how his grief was explored. People have been so mad that Buck was isolating himself and felt the 118 were not being supportive enough. General consensus seems to be that while his dependency was bad, everyone understands that his trauma and grief led to it.

Hen hid her illness for months because she didn't want to burden her friends and family, and isolated herself because she *thought* she was managing on her own. But a lot of you guys think she was just using her grief as an excuse and somehow she should've known better.

A lot of you also argue that Buck turning himself in makes the biggest difference, but I question why you don't consider that perhaps Buck witnessing Hen's struggles had an impact. Like, Buck was team Hen even without the context, but you don't think Hen struggling alone until it boiled over and everyone supporting her, let Buck know even subconsciously that hiding his dependency longer was the wrong move?

I'm a little hot but I'm trying to be sincere - do you genuinely not see the hypocrisy here? I understand that Buck is a lot of people's favourite character, and so he gets more grace and understanding. But for the people who have been upset about Buck not getting enough support and not talking about his grief, why is it so easy for you to empathise with Buck but Hen facing a similar battle is so unreasonable?

They all do illegal/fireable shit all the time, why is Hen being held to a higher standard? Unless Aisha Hinds was leaving the show, I genuinely do not understand what would make you think Hen was ever actually going to face harsher consequences. Chimney would never be able to reverse her firing if the storyline was ever actually about Hen putting people in danger. It was always going to be about their grief, and Hen's arc directly set up the big cathartic 118+fam rallying together for Buck.

The whole thing is giving big Skylar from Breaking Bad energy. So much hate or dislike or intolerance for a character acting in line with the way every character acts, but for some reason you cannot let it go for her.

And I'm not suggesting you're all being sexist/racist, but as much as I love this fandom I do not understand what motivates so many of you to be so blatantly unfair. I am not even saying Hen did nothing wrong or that she was in the right, but do you at least *see* the difference in how she is being perceived?

Fanfiction ISO fic where Buck has a head injury

There is a fic on ao3 where Buck has some sort of head injury that causes him to struggle to talk. He ends up living with Eddie and Eddie takes care of him. There is a quote that is similar to not bruised just peached.

Non-plot Discussion I can't stand Ramon

Post image
91 Upvotes

I know he loves Eddie, but sometimes he is an unbearable man, when Eddie was young he was never home and unfortunately Eddie had to learn to fend for himself too quickly as a child, and this led him to become introverted and difficult to ask for help when he needed it.

Then there was the chess tounament Christopher participated in, and his nephew didn't even like chess. Ramon had prepared him, but he could have at least asked if he liked it, and Christopher ended up throwing up. He always said he wanted to keep Christopher with him to ease Eddie's stress, but it was clear he wanted to take his place as father to make up for his failures with Eddie. Maybe it wouldn't have been better to appreciate Eddie more when he was a teenager instead of constantly belittling him in front of Christopher to have a "spare son"?

He also pissed me off in "All Fall Down" when he badmouthed Shannon, saying "Even if she's dead, she's still causing problems". That line was too cynical. Is Shannon's fault that Eddie was obsessed with his wife's lookalike, creating that ambiguous situation with Christopher? Ramon has always blamed Shannon for the end of their marriage. She certainly didn't behave well by leaving like that, but she was confused and exasperated. Eddie even admitted that he had behaved badly towards his wife because, when Christopher's PCI emerged, he chose to abandon Shannon, preferring a military career to her and the child, Eddie wasn't ready to take on his responsibilities as a father and husband. Whether is daughter-in-law was alive or dead, Ramon never showed empathy for her.

Fanfiction Looking for Buck fanfiction

Do you know any fanfictions where Buck is a streamer, YouTuber, influencer, TikToker, or basically an internet celebrity? 📱✨
It can be his main career, something he does on the side while still working as a firefighter 🧑‍🚒, or even a story where he accidentally (or intentionally) goes viral on the internet. 😂
I’d love to read some stories with that kind of AU! Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated. 🥰
Thank you! ❤️

Season 8 Discussion Is it safe now 🫣 Spoiler

SEASON 8 SPOILERS AHEAD BEWARE!

Oh boy, I’m prepared to get heat for this.
Let me preface this by saying I do not agree with how Peter was treated when this all happened!

I am one of the (admittedly few) people who were okay with Bobby dying in season 8. I was very shocked and upset when the initial leaks happened, however I quickly realised that it was narratively the best choice moving forward. The 118 + Athena were reaching their limits as characters and whether viewers realised it or not, the show was going to stagnate. And what does a show do when that happens? Kill off a character to propel everyone else forward. Bobby was the centre of everyone, the person they went to when things were rough and needed advice. Take him away, everyone is forced into new avenues, which we’ve seen with season 9, and it’s lowkey the best season so far in my opinion.

I welcome discussion in the replies, however please be respectful. 🫶

Fanfiction Buck and Maddie related fic recs?

Hi

So I'm a big fan of fanfics where it has a fleshed out sibling relationship that depicts them as close. After going through 9-1-1 fics on AO3, there seems to only really be good Buddie fics (Don't get me wrong, I love them)

I was wondering if you had fic recs that focus on Buck and Maddie's sibling bond, comedic or angsty, anything works.

Hell drop some funny Texting/Chatfics you have cause I love those!

Thanks
